School Rumble
3 years 2 months ago
This was my first, second and third attempt at vectoring (in order below). the images are screen caps i got from the anime school rumble. the first one was an easy one that i made to get familiar with the pen tool. I did my vectors in photoshop since i found it easier to use, but i probably will move to illustrator once i figure out how to use it :P
Enjoy.
(hopefully my links work)
EDIT: blah the best i could do was put thumbnails..no clue how to just link them :P
EDIT2: er..haven't been on here recently and just saw there is a new rules section..if this doesn't follow the rules then you can just delete it, sorry.

Wow, not bad! You should try vectoring small and poor quality scans if you think you're up to it. ;)
And I didn't think Photoshop would actually give out a result as good as this. Dude, you have inspired me to learn how to vector. :-P

That's a very good work! is very difficult to do that! ^^ congratulations!
You have some very nice vectors. The first one looks so cute!
Heheh very nice vectors and I was surprised to see you did them in PS Well awesome job keep it up and make some walls with those xD
Nice vectors, although the lines aren't as smooth as it should be. I've never used Photoshop for my vectoring, but can that be the problem?

that's cause they are resized from 1600, if they were left in their original aspects.. it's superb really...
froom, i recommend you use ripway, 30mb file hosting with direct-linking, approx 10-15 mb daily bandwidth... decent for hosting images (though they kinda suck if you have images that are about 500kb+)

Thanks for the comments guys =]
i did it in photoshop because i couldn't really grasp illustrator that well. also i couldn't find a good tutorial on how to use illustrator to vector stuff, but i found a good photoshop one so i decided to give it a try anyways.
for image shack, if you click the thumbnail then click the image that shows up, it should technically resize it to 1600x1200 i believe. i will look into ripway and probably try it out for my next vectors whenever i get around to them :p
thanks again :D

For future reference, i suggest you buy adobe's illustrator v.x classroom in a book. there's many out there, but that book in particular seems to be the most recommended from my colleagues and professors.
the dive into illustrator will be well worth the trouble, especially if you're workin on redrawing certain images so that you can adjust their sizes without losing resolution. photoshop can handle your most basic of vector work, but it's not really meant to be used for linework. its more of a higher degree of control for precise selection of portions of whatever image you're working on. hence the pixelation.
keep it up~

Yes, agree with Zeek...
Illustrator is better bet to use especially if you plan to scale up the drawing... I haven't used vector in Photoshop (as I've been a long time user of Illustrator) but if that's what happens when you scale it up in photoshop (loss if resolution) then what is the point?! ;o)
the *whole point* of "going vector" is that you can scale like crazy and the image stays perfectly sharp (no "jaggies")...
I would highly recommend getting a hold of Illustrator and try it out... you don't even really need the latest and greatest version... even as old as version 5.5 (and that's "antique"!!) would do what you need to do to trace images...
seems that through all the new versions all they added was more and more filters and more "photoshop like" features the basic pen tool and vector drawing functions have remained the same all these years.
oh BTW, your drawings look great to me anyway! ;o)
