Hello there!
I've completed my first wallpaper for AP.net (technically, it's the third one I've ever made...) Sure, it may look pretty and neat, but I'm still unsure about how this turns out, as I'm still new at making wallpapers. (however, I'm quite experienced with Photoshop and icons I've made for LiveJournal for more than two years)
Constructive critism would be greatly appreciated!

Symmetrical walls are not my forte...so i'm not really qualified to instruct you about the layout. however, i can say that your beauty and the beast cirlce thing is not aligned correctly. every other circle is lined up right against the border of the wall but this one isn't. either you have a more randomized layout or else you must stick to symmetry! ;P
and speaking of circle, though i hesitate to comment about leftovers from extraction and jaggy edges these days because my monitor displays things differently than what can be seen on other monitors, double check your extraction of the circles nonetheless. i seem to see something on top of the...i forgot which princess it was, but it's in the bottom right corner.
as well, you might not have noticed but the text is not centered. you should center it. In addition, if it says seven princesses, they why are you showing only four? the text and the images used in the wall must make sense together.
move your sig to that it rests right against the bottom edge of the wall and that's all i can say for the moment. =] good luck.

Oh, thanks!

D'oh!

I didn't think anyone would notice it. Oh well.

Look at the background ;) (though, I'm now removing the word "Seven" -- people might not get this)

...I beg your pardon? My sig is at the bottom edge.
Now...to the Photoshop!

Well...i'm not to good at making my own walls myself..but as far as I can see is the colors on the princesses look kinda dull ... you may want to liven up the color on them a little bit...otherthen that i like it...
good luck

Ah, my bad. i missed the other three. ^^; i see them now...so there are seven after all. oops. i did not pay enough attention to the bg, which is very careless of me. sorry about that.
and i know you sig is at the bottom but i meant position it so that is is right up against the bottom border. it's for the best coverage. sounds like i'm talking about make-up or something. -_- but anyway, yeah, the whole point of having your sig down there is so that the taskbar can hide it when people use it. sig is identification but it is not part of the art after all. but it really is no big deal so...
okay then, i'll comment again when i see an update. =]

Okay, I've taken asa10's advice and made changes.
Presto.
Any further C&C?
You think so? It looks quite bright on my monitor -- and I don't want it to be garish.
Well, I've realized this just before I logged in :P

Gotta run gotta run. hurried post. i give you the ability to update on anything you want since you can't double post and i have posted. but i'll be sure to comment in more detail tomorrow.
for the moment, i cannot think of much to say. it meets all the technical points right? quality's adequate, there's sig... yeah. all i can think of is garnishing the text. make it more fairytale and beautiful and fancy. so try out stuff that would make it look more like it comes out of a disney movie...sparkles etc. don't go over the top but do try it out. i cannot guarantee you a good outcome because i am in a hurry and cannot think it through thoroughly. but i'll be back tomorrow. x_x

Another update...
I've decided that the original images used were too crisp, so I blurred these a bit. Do they seem to unify better with the whole wall or what?
@ asa10: Oh, don't overwhelm yourself! Just take your time.

Hm, blurred? well, i don't mind it, but i didn't mind the sharper version either. ^^; most people tend to keep their work crisp...although some do "soften" it a bit. if it looks good to you, then i think it's okay since you didn't really over do it to make the images look filtered/low quality.
now how about that glitter and sparkle? it'll add a touch of asymmetry to your wall. and as you told me, you like randomized things. so give it a go. =] maybe a rather sparse, scattered, curved streak that goes diagonally over the wall or something. just to add that touch of disney magic.

Oh, I've just added some sparkle onto the text -- and finally submitted it (I decided to not bother you or anyone else at SZ for further feedback. It's time to finish this and send it in) I'm very grateful for you taking your time to critique, even if my wall isn't accepted. I thank you very much.
I think it looks pretty good. Maybe you could have your signature in a different color or font, though.
I like it except that there's onyl four princesses when it states there ar seven. the text seems kind of slapped on there (that's the only word I could think of to use, I don't mean that you were being lazy). and your signature is a bit dominating

Heh...thanks for the critique, but I'm totally done with the wallpaper. It didn't get accepted, unfortunately. But I won't be asking for any more feedback -- I want to move on and create a whole new wallpaper.
