I can already see white area sticking out in the angles of his hair. You want to get rid of that. The BG... well, it just doesn't seem to fit... as it looks to me.
The picture is not extracted well enough (the white around the edges), so you might want to fix that. The colors of the background and text don't go together well at all. I think the background is kinda plain and the swirls would probably look better green or darker blue. That would tie the scan to the background somewhat.

You shouldn't use the 'magic wand' tool to extract the picture... it has to be done manually :)
I agree with what hurricanedra and rymfire said - the colours of background and text don't fit the scan, you should change their colours to greenish/blueish.

It's a good attempt, heck I haven't even gotten a wall approved yet, so I've got no room to talk. lol, but I did notice that there is white visible along the character. Also the font/colors you choose don't really flow. Look at some of the other members walls, that should help. Good luck! ^_^

How do I remove the white border? I can figure that one out =/ Will work on the background though :)
