Best martial arts fighter
Hey hows it going?
In general, whats your personal overall best fighter (from cinemas, t.v or real life) and why??
Some people to think of are (with some example movies or series):
- Sylvester Stallone (Rocky)
- Chuck Norris (Texas Walker Ranger)
- Arnie Swavrhavrhsvahsvrahvrrnegger ( yeah)
- Jean Claude Van Damm (demolition man etc etc)
- Bruce Lee )enter the dragon etc(
- Jet Li (The One, Hero)
- Jackie Chan (Police Story)
-Tony Jaa (Ong Bak)
- Kostya Tzu (world fighter)
- Ryu (street fighter)
**jokes Ryu isn't real! i just dress, act and everyone thinks i'm him....HA**
***if you want to add more go ahead***
My Personal Favourite would have to be Tony Jaa for Ong Bak because his fighting style is the better (from my point of view) for average freestyle / street fighting.
I believe he is better, because the others make the people getting hit, stand there and wait for the combo to hit them e.g. PUNCH! 1....2....3... KICK! **explosion in background for no razon**
Don't pay out other peoples ideas but if you wish, rebuttle too please.

Whoever wishes to reply, ANSWER THE QUESTION. There is a "why?" which requires you to answer to that. Don't list your choices.

Wait, this thread is redundant cause you did not state, real fighters who ACTUALLY know KUNG FU? or Acting-fighters?
In this case, Jet Li is a real fighter cause he also trains people to fight, knows martial arts and so on.
Jackie Chan belongs to the latter, but a bit blurry since his fights are more to ochestration of moves and maneuvers.
Jean Claude is more to act fighting, so does Steven, since they do not really embrace martial arts as their way of life, they primarily rely on the show's special effects, agenda of the hollywood production to mark their fights as well. (Act Fighting, nobody actually know kung fu can be applied)
that said, my all time favorite?
Jet Li, a master of many types of martial arts, he is both skilled in soft and hard martial arts as well as being a constant leader in scene. His many achievements and morals in martial arts practice showed a respectable following of the cores laid down by the man himself "Huo Yuen Jia". His latest movie is based on this man's history and his biography. He is also a great actor, plus the way he expresses his moves shows his ability to do moves between a dance like way and a style of force and anger (made famous when he filmed Once upon a time in China series and Huo Yuan Jia (before he understood his mistake)).
I say, he is my all time favorite, I grew up watching him fight and was inspired by him, I was also a member of the Karate and Shao Lin Kung Fu club back in high school. He is an inspiration to many.

Best Martial Arts Fighters ... are The Ultimate Fighters... serious now. Just think about it. They're very tough guys, strong and big who are very determined to kill one another when set free. Nobody in real life could stop monsters like these guys.
Jet Li once said: "If these guys fight for real, they could kill me in a second..."
Other fighters that are veeery effective are Masters of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I've seen footage once how a Kung Fu man struggled against one of those Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Fighters. That was incredible... I think even Tony Jaa would have trouble against those guys... cause that's the reality of Fighting, face it, guyz and Martial Arts Fans...

My answer:jet li, when i was young, i noe, i watched the same movie 7 times, (insane), since then, he became, my "hero" in those movies that i have watched, as you noe, he is a skillful martial artist^^, but still, i dunno how to express it >.< recently, i watched his movie called "Huo Yuen Jia", based on real history, and it is said that it is his last action movie(i was sad...), and the action scenes in the movie was just as impressive as ever...

Ah this is simple:
Brandon lee (crow) of course, 'cause he is cool. Well he died during the making of the film but still. Uma thurman is also very nice in kill bill's and Lucy Liu too. Jet li was also great in hero for example.

My favourite would be Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikido.
@Omnidevil
Steven Seagal is a 7th "dan" practioner of Aikido ... my Aikido sensei is currently working trying to reach his 4th "dan"..
In 1975, Steven Seagal became the first American instructor to open a Aikido Dojo in Japan.
Euuh hello ... Seagal holds black belts in Karate, Aikido and Kenjutsu and has also studied Judo, Kali, Kendo, Eastern Philosophy, Shinto Religion, and the Holistic Arts (including Acupuncture, Herbology and Calligraphy).
He is a Shodan in Shitoryu Karate and has trained briefly under Fumio Demura.
I mean when Morihei died ... he left for Japan to study Zen, Buddhism and Aikido.
In 1975 he married and continued to live in Japan where he eventually inherited a dojo from his Japanese father-in-law.
Seagal is a very very scary man.....
A bad actor yes. <g>
A fake martial arts practitioner no.

One of the best martial artist in my opinion in movies is Donnie Yen, who stared in "Hero", "Sha Po Lang" and "Seven Swords" recently. Not being a very big guy, he is able to deliver a very big punch. Mr. Yen is also an action chrographer in flims. His fight with Jet Li (who was playing Wong Fei Hong) in "Once Upon a Time in China II" (1992) is surely a classic to any HK films fan. And his fight against Jacky Chan in "the Twins Effect II" is also something not to be soon forgotton.
Words alone is insufficient in describing the magnitude of any martial artists, it is something has has to be seen to be fully appreciated.

Never saw the latter with Chan. Yen DID fight with him in Shangai Knight's too. Ranged weapons seems to be his specialty in all of the films I've seen with him in it (i.e. Highlander: End Game, Shangai Knights, Hero)
