are you an OTAKU??
Actually, i'm not.
I enjoy anime, and i buy it along with artbooks and such on occasion, but i don't practice it.
Basically, i'm an animator. If i was an otaku, thats all i would draw. And i'm happy and proud to say it's a rare occasion to get me to draw anime now. I have a simplistic style, so i can use it to it's fullest animatable capabilities in the time frame i get.
Like i said, i buy, and watch anime and read manga, but i'm not obsessed. I used to be obsessed, but i grew up. To me, it's another form of animation, that i enjoy and need to keep up with.
And like previously mentioned, i'd be careful about using the word otaku. It's most definitely a negative thing in japanese. It's one of those misunderstood and wrongly used "japanese-american" words.

Yeah. I'd say I'm and Otaku. And proud of it.

In the language institue where I learn Thai, when I told some Japanese women that I was a Japanimation fan and when I told them I knew so many different Anime and Manga, one of them said to me "Otaku desu", and I said "No, not directly,... I thought Otaku is something very bad" But nevertheless she insisted calling me "Otaku",... but she didn't mean it in a bad sense I think...

Im not really very sure...but people say i am...
As much as I love anime I do not consider myself an otaku.
I watch anime and read manga,my only source forgetting them is the internet, since you can't find anime dvd's or manga in my country ;_:
When at school or with my friends,I don't speak about it,because I'm sure they wouldn't understand me. For them anime=cartoons and they'd rapidly classify me as a "freak..."
So,yeah,that's how it is.

I do consider myself an OTAKU in the positive way of being in love with anime. However, I want to be fair. I'm not quite sure I would be considered an otaku from the way the japanese describe it. I really do watch anime, read manga, collect figures and dvds but I still want to be fair. I am not super hardcore up to the point where everything in my life is anime. Anime is a big inspiration to me with great stories and great artwork. See, even though I am an otaku, I can't call myself a genius at anime. I can call myself a huge fan of anime series that I really love. So... yeah, I guess I'm an otaku but am I REALLY otaku enough to be an otaku as the japanese term?
Haha, too bad being this way still goes with all the otaku consequences. (having a horrible social life)
It's okay right otaku? We'll fall in love ANIME STYLE one day and live happily ever after. WOO!

In the japanese language we westerners reached them and do call us otaku's otaku. basically we westernized their language a bit... (we do this a lot and is basically part of their culture)
Yes, I'm quite the otaku! But still I'd like to be more, you know? being an otaku its not something to be ashamed of, its all the opposite.
I'm an anime fan, but i don't think I want to be called as an Otaku. Bear in mind that in japan, otaku doesn't only mean an anime/manga fan.

I'm a moderate otaku. I like anime and manga, sometimes feels strongly about some good series and hunt down the merchandise. But I don't really talk / discuss my interests unless I'm meeting people with similar interests.

Slightly but my world does'nt revolve around anime alone XP there's also the love for games and comic books.
In general I think I wouldn't regard myself an Otaku,... because for a year now I just watch just my favorite Anime series. Actually I have many,... but I do not have the time to watch them all. I have my current standard Anime programmes and that is already enought to watch for me. (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Aoki Densetsu Shoot)
At broad daylight I really have something better to do then watching Anime "all day" like in the past when I was more...... "OTAKU".
