In my country we are very relaxing people, if you failed an exam, we always said :"Relax, is just an exam, soon will be another exam like that, so dont worry and study hard for the next".

There always people who get depress for failed, but this people only get depress like 10 minutes, later they live their lives without bother for the exam.

Actually failing an exam used to just make me sad, but not it makes me panic and freak out. I means sure it's not that bad. It's only one exam. But I want to do the best I can, and if i fail one, that means I'm definitely not.

That said however, If i study as hard as I can and then still fail, it will make me feel inept. I hate that feeling.

Don't be too serious about the result you got. Just relax and hang out with your friends. Really keep on thinking about it and that will only make thing worse.. just chill

ps. sry for any bad grammar :P

Ah, I just become depressed after hearing a note that is under 70/100 > and yeah this means usually 99% of my exams xDD
Anyway, I become depressed getting angrier and angrier of people who talk about exam questions and say stuff like that: "ahhh... I cant believe I got only 80! I did this wrong in this!!", "Wah?? If I got 8 more points I could have 100!! I should find points!!"
For example, I am usually a OK person about jokes and react rarely. But when someone jokely hits me for example, I become frustrated and start talking bad... Then I think about all the past and present and future exams and try to calculate of my chance of passing... Then my future appears as a failure before my eyes and I pretend to sleep all day long.

Well I failed a couple of times before...but I placed my expectations as low as possible so I wasn't really disappointed...besides it wasn't a major exam.

For some people, mostly those who are known to be smart and were one of the class top, failing an exam would be a very hurting blow.I give an example of myself. For Chemistry I never get lower than 90,but just 3 days ago,my Chemistry score is 34!Immediately goes to a shock and went to a cry.And even after that,I get depressed until yesterday, when I took remediation test and get 93.

Getting depressed over exam failure is soo normal, some people would have their pride in it,but to go as far as suicide, now that is a different case.

Failing examination? That's really common for me since i enter jc(junior college) I am so used to it that i won't cry anymore. However, I do feel sad about my result and angry at my performance. (afterall, i really did study for my exam) It motivate me to study harder and to score better. Anyway, I will really cry if i ever failed my chinese. :P

With regards to those who commit suicide for failing examination, i simply despise them. They are selfish people who does not consider about their living parents, relatives and friends. How sad would the parents be? What would their parents feel? They spend effort and time and whatever to look after a kid and ended up with nothing except sadness? I seriously don't understand why students want to commit suicide simply because they fail their exam. It is not the end of the world! There are still retest or whatever? As long as you continue living, you have got a chance to score your 100/100 or whatever!

There a lot of people who are struggling to live just another day, either because they are terminally ill or living in poverty state or whatever. And there are people who commit suicide because they fail their exam?! They should really learn how to appreciate life!

Due to the overwhelming amount of apathy I have, resulting from trying my hardest and failing repeatedly, I have not only stopped trying, but stopped caring. I probably should care due to the fact that I now pay for school, but I can't help it :-P If I fail an exam, I react the same as I do when I pass the exam. I just go home and watch anime until I have to go to class again.

Just recently I received my results for a practice Graduate Record Exam that I took a few weekends ago at my university. I found out that on both sections, I got a score of 430. At the program I'm applying to, they are looking for a score of 450 or higher. I was 20 points short on both sections. Even more ironic was that I got this on last Wednesday. February 20th.

Even worse, my men's basketball team dropped another heartbreaker later that night. Good thing this was just a practice exam. Otherwise, I would have to retake that GRE to get my score up to the cutoff of 450.

But that's the thing: I detest failing any type of exam because it reflects on your academic record. There have been times here and there where I didn't take the time to look at the results, and once that happened, my grades suffered when exam day came. Hopefully I can see what I did wrong, and do something to prevent it from happening again when the real GRE exam day comes (for me, March 20th).

I used to relate about getting high grades and not accepting to get anything lower then 90. After I reached HS and was taking a few classes that I wasn't accustomed to, I started to get lower grades. One of my exams was for physics and the result I got was 60%. I was in shock I didn't know how to react. I really thought I let myself down. Eventually I was able to understand that I really shouldn't go crazy getting a few low scores here and there. It's normal for people to have high and lows from time to time. Now that I'm in college I take everything with a different outlook. I always study hard for all my classes and the result show the effort I put in. I mean sometimes you get one of those exams that are like (x_x) emoticon and its a wrap. Other then that, you really shouldn't overreact after getting the results of your exam. If you really study hard and put effort in the class the grade will show. If you know you didn't study then I don't know what you where expecting. If you have a professor that loves to make your life H.E.L.L. well then I am sorry for you wish you the best of luck. 9(>_>) emoticon

Thoughts of suicide aren't just induced by the environment - low levels of serotonin in the brain are associated with depression, OCD, borderline personality disorder, schizotypal disorder and low-self-esteem. Low serotonin is generally brought about by not eating proper foods and whatnot...I know all this because
A) I live with some of these disorders and
B) I research them.

I'd post links but I'm lazy. You people seem smart so just type "low serotonin" into google and read up.

I used to be obsessed with grades from JR high school since I kept a good 99+ average but now that I entered a tougher high school, getting low scores is pretty common, so I learned to adapt and not worry so much over a bad grade ;) Usually the teachers are nice and even though you have a 50 average in tests in their class, they will give you a 90. I just learned myself not to focus so much on what letter or number a teacher gives you because that doesn't prove whether you studied to your best for that exam or not, just that you know for yourself that you tried your best, and that's all that matters .(n_n). emoticon
