I find MMORPGs really addicting, but I slowly drifted away from that addiction. I'm more into console gaming and FPS now, but anime-like RPGs still persuade me. Usually the addiction doesn't last more than 2 weeks, though. The excitement of an MMORPG really dies off before then unless you have a lot of friend to play together with. But oh well, my grades did not drop whatsoever, but procrastination really did consume me, although that's normal for me xD.
Final fantasy X is my main addiction, there are so many sidequests it's ridiculous. But I don't play too many online games, I suck so bad that I don't think I'd have fun. xDD I used to paly Halo 2 a lot, but got my butt handed to me and lost interest. Mainly the internet itself is my main addiction. :P
Most of time yeah MMORPG's are most addicting for me when i start playing it's hard to stop .

I used to play WoW (World of Warcraft), and for the longest time I would prioritize it over quite a number of Real Life things and schedule my free time to it. Now I've stopped cold turkey since June, a record over my last attempt of 1 month. This hasn't dampen my interest in the Warcraft universe as a whole as I still love the lore and game universe.
My personal opinion is that if you have low self control is not to start an interest in the MMORPG area. Balancing your commitment in-game and in-real-life is extremely difficult especially if your the type who don't like letting others down.
Other areas of gaming I feel are just fine as it is as they do not take up as much time commitment as a MMORPG does.
Heck, to get out of MMORPG I ended up getting myself addicted to devouring more and more anime but hey, at least I can pause the show (you can't pause a raid!).

I think addictions are bad only if they interfere with life. For example, I used to play MMPORGs a lot in the past, to the point where I'd be playing 3-5 hours per day! I tried to keep my grades up, but I couldn't stop playing, the games were so addicting! Obviously, I figured out that playing those games were not worth my time, so I eventually stopped (it was hard to!) If you're a student (I am) then your education is the most important thing in the world at this time; it is with education that you can go places! Playing games on the computer doesn't help in any way; if you gain 100 levels, it's not like anyone recognizes your amazing feat (besides your friends). It's all virtual. Sure, it may help with motor skills and such, but there are other options such as exercising and doing puzzles that don't require a computer and go easy on your eyes. Addiction can be a dangerous thing; moderation is definetly key with issues such as computer gaming.
