I don´t think TV shows have gotten worse at all.
At least not American shows which is basically the only ones I watch. Series like House and Lost and Heroes are totally awesome.

Here in the US, the shows have changed so much..I remember, when we were kids, we used to look forward to after school hours/weekends so we could watch x-men, gargoyles, transformers, thunder-cats, etc...but now, most everything seems boring!
I am really not much of a tv watcher, esp nowadays, but I have seen some of the anime they show during the weekdays, & some of it's not too bad (somehow, listening to the eng dub irritates me...it all sounds so fake.

I don't watch TV much anymore at all, however I watch TV shows a loooot more than I used to growing up, pretty unhealthy actually. I really hang for the next episode of House and South Park, there's plenty of other shows I have semi-interest but I've never really liked shows as much as I love stuff like House and South Park :)
Right now i almost never watch television arround max 2 hours a week dont know complety lost interest in it
TV is boring nowadays. I don't watch anymore like I used to in the past. One significant reason is that every Action movie, I mean the TV version of a movie is CUT and edited-raped anyway, so why waste my precious time when I can save a few bucks and buy the uncut version anyway. I'd even do part time work to speed up the process.
As some of you said, most people here world wide, be it in USA or Germany (where I am from) every Saturday morning we would wait for cartoons like Saber Rider, MASK, Transformers... you name it. Or watch Knight Rider, A-team, Dukes of Hazard...
Ever since the day of reality shows like Big Brother my interest in Tv has rapidly gone down, man.

Well as a kid I watched lots of TV and their were alot of good shows however most of the shows became really good well since I'm a kid and it's cool to watch a guy like Mcgyver to make something coll within his surroundings.
Nowadays I think TV is more or less boring with lots of commercials or like live competition shows etc. It just aint how it used to be.

I watch the Discovery Channel occasionally, but I don't watch much T.V. besides, unless I catch an episode of House or a National Hockey League game.
There's way too much crap on T.V. these days. Once you filter the half million News channels, sports channels, religious channels and retired grandma channels, your left with 2 cartoon channels, the comedy network and a few american stations that may have interesting content but are stuffed to the tits with garbage and commercials.
Anime on T.V. is typically the Shonen crap that drags on for about 5 years or so. I put up with Dragonballz when I was younger, but I put my foot down after that. Anything Anime-wise I just buy or watch online now.
I need to find myself satellite or something, cable just sucks.

I'm not a fan of most of the newer series around; Heroes etc. and I never liked reality shows. Most of the time I drop a series before it ends. At one time I was watching all the CSI's but I just got too busy and they got too repeatative. The series I watch constantly now are re-runs of old ones. American cartoons have also lost it a bit in my opinion, but the anime that's showing in my country is still acceptable.

lylaThough I find myself watching the discovery channels more often now. I hate the movie channels.. since they always show the same films over and over again. But yeah, I hardly ever watch tv anymore either.. who needs tv when you've got the internet =o
I agree TV has gone down the drain in many ways, but the worst thing to happen to TV has to be realityTV. Dont get me wrong I enjoyed realityTV in its early years, but now its too much. Thank goodness for the Discovery Channel, House, and Super Natural. If I didnt have the internet, Anime, and Movies I might be insane in a completly defferent way than I am.

Well there are some good shows nowdays like supernatural or terminator.. but theres a lot of shows that makes me 
and few good cartoon like the fairy ood parents but theres even more bad shows...

Everyone's making reality tv shows now because it's much cheaper than fictional shows which require writers and special effects teams, etc. There are still some decent tv shows on, I think, but there's also a lot of weird gimmicky shows. Like the ones on Fox. One show is about a guy with split personalities. One show is just a remake of Knight Rider. Than there's the remake of 90210. And the series based on the Terminator movies.
Everything is trying to tie in with something else or else it's trying to copy something else. There isn't a whole lot of original shows anymore and the ones that are original get cancelled (Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Firefly).
But I can't complain a whole lot. I still manage to find decent stuff to watch each night.
What also bugs me is the way kids shows have gone. I remember growing up with Magic School Bus and Bill Nye. These shows were educational and informative. Now we have shows about Pinatas or that show that was just copying Dexter's Lab (Johnny Test, I believe it was called).

Yes nowdays people watch any show regardless of originality or historyboard... thats how Casin says only remakes or series based on a famous movie or series and ... reality shows OMG! they realy s*cks and everyday are more and more supermodels, couples, actor, doctors... everyone have a reality show but if there is an original history it is canceled if it doesn`t have the rating because most people like more to watch a bunch of models playin fools in a reality show

What I hate the most is how adult swim is turning more toward comedy than action. In the good 'ol days, yu yu hakusho, trigun, cowboy bebop, gundam wing, pilot candidate, and more where on. It was at that time that I converted myself into a late sleeper/late riser. Don't get me wrong... I like a good comedy every once in a while, but the family guy episodes they show are old, futurama is gone, and everything else is second rate. Bleach, code geass, and moribito are all i watch anymore. Even then I have to record them because they come on at like 5:00am sunday morning. That's some 'ol bull****!
