Do you think the base nature of humans is evil/bad?

I personally have no answer to that...But i do believe that every human has a bad as well as good mentality/characteristic that exist within themselves,it is just a question of either which one becomes more dominant due to the surrroundings and experiences in life you have as you grow.
But then again, guess it doesn't really matter if human were born kind or evil cause it will eventually be influenced and channged by what you see, hear and learn later after birth...
to say we are evil is to say humans are demons that is what you are saying to me and that makes absolutely no sense and its a slap in the face of people who dedicate their lives to doing real good in the world rather than sit around saying that we are all demons.
humans aren't 100 percent evil but we actually are just imperfect
by my logic...
a demon= evil an angel=good but a human= balanced potential of good and evil with the majority in favor of doing "the right thing" according to some extent how they feel plus their own understanding of it, but largely how they were raised and what they were taught, ...or decided to pick up.
I believe we are simply imperfect beings with a penchant for labeling things :P that are currently in the process of evolving or changing for the better

I am under the impression there are equal parts of good and evil. Since the big bang we came from a singularity, I believe that evil is only 1 side of the coin that was once with good. Some people create, others destroy.. this seems an unavoidable cycle until the universe collapsing on itself.
Now group mentality is a different subject. Individual people have greater scale between good and evil. Group thinking often leans toward the darker aspects in my view.

I'm a personal believer in the blank slate theory. That would be that when a person is born, they are completely clean, and are neither good or bad. That gives them the chance to become either one. So I don't think that human nature itself is either.
Hormonal (testoterone for the violence), with survival instincts, yes; evil in itself, no.

Not trying to be rude or anything but to me your question is quite flawed in that you assume humans must have a 'basic nature'. Humans as a whole are to broad in their differences to be grouped as one subtype. A stretched example would be to ask why are most fishes so aggressive. I am referring to sharks as being the aggressors, but not all fish nor all sharks are aggressive.
Humans like all animals exist only to survive, no matter how much humans may think more of themselves. When circumstances arise humans will react in a way to save either themselves, kin, or their own, so long as their species survives. Humans are also driven by animal instincts and as products of nature nothing is prefect mutations do occur. Evil.. is a word created by humans. Only humans can be evil, there are no evil animals or storms or plants, they simply exist. Humans are evil and humans are good, if to be so broad. You can not treat this as an equation, where you add all the good people and all the bad and once compared the higher number reigns.
Evil is not an absoltue negative nor is Good an absolute positive. When compared together humans are both evil and good, therefore they are both, neither and neutral. The soil and the ocean exist together it only depends on where you are looking, and where you are standing. It's basically neither since good and evil are all relative to your subjection.

Being good or evil is dependent on how you look at it. But personally i think that there are good people but the speaking of the human race as a whole the base nature of humans race ARE bad, we've caused war, kill other animals, and pollute the earth, ect...
I think people are both good and evil, it's just a matter of which influence of the two that they allow to control them.

I don't think a person is born either evil or good, i mean can a baby really tell whats good and whats evil? we say something is evil or good because majority agree so. human only become good or bad depend on the way they are raised, their environment and personal experience. i don't really think there is such thing as good and evil to begin with good and evil is just words use to describe thing that we human don't like and things that we like. for example since survival is our main instinct, anything that gets in the way of our survival is bad(natural disaster), but thats not true since we human are not the ultimate being, we are all only borrowing this planet to live on, is not ours, it belong to nature, if we are living on it then we got to accept what nature give us.

I look at as humans are not good or bad, they are just . . . . . . well . . . . . . all different, but everyone has a good side and a bad side, and everyone has faces they hide and most times its their bad face.

I'd say neither or either and prefer thinking the basic human acting/thinking still is influenced by instinct. Refusing to think the world is divided in black-white I'd rather see the world as one big grayscale picture.
The basic nature of humans can't be really evil because a big number of people are honest and kind, caring about other people and not only themselves.
Of course I do think there are people who are genuinely bad, for example hurting others without caring in an extent normal people can't even imagine.

I'm going out on a limb here, and in doing so just going ahead and putting myself out as a Christian.
Yes, humans by our Fallen nature are evil. Our natural state is one of complete debasement. Through the Fall, humans became so depraved that through the ages we naturally run away from things that are pure and holy.
