How important is money to you?
It does not have much value for me outside of the means for survival and support of my future family. And I don't think it will be much of a benefit to my happiness because I'm already content with what I have for the most part and hope to be in the future.

Money is important to me but it does not equal happiness. Money comes and goes, we buy things, we spend, we eat, we party - but how long does all that last? A few seconds, a few hours, a few days? Having just enough money is probably the best way to go - enough to lead a good life, but not so much that the money blinds you to the real things that matter. Money does weird things to people. What really lasts is happiness. Love, a family to care for, and close friends - all linked to love. Money can help those things blossom but the truth is, it cant give you those things. Living a good life with enough money is what will help your happiness.
Don't you notice that when you give money to charity, you feel an intrinsic pride, and a glow of happiness? But when you buy a 100 dollar top, you feel too guilty to even wear it (at least I do) because you know that there are people in the world, that don't make that much, in a year, and they are the ones who made it.

Money is important hell yes but it's not the only thing; I don't want to sound cliche but there really are things that you can't buy with money. Money can get you some pretty important stuff but you gotta remain sane too. I'd like to have a little more money than I need to and save it up, maybe spend quite a few on rare occasions but keep a steady amount piling up in the bank. If there are extra money I'd definitely save some of it up for my future kids, but then that worries me if my kids are going to mis-use the money or not.

You have to begin by asking the question yourself.
Does pleasure and satisfaction mean happiness?
What is happiness?
It is a philosophical question of course, but you cannot disguise it.
If we do have happiness, how does it look like? Japanese people can say and call it "Shiawase" in Chinese terms, that means "Xing Fu" To feel elated, complete, happy.
Does having power and position, rank and stats make you happy? How are you supposed to be happy? Does happy mean to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, such as using money to buy the things you like?
Or does Happy mean family, finding the one you love, and sharing love even through the hard times?
In The Last Samurai, towards the end of the film, the writer quoted "Some believe he has went back to America, and was never heard from again. Some believe he is in Japan still, and remained silent. But I believe, at long last, he may have found some peace which most of us seek, but few have ever found"
Don't you think in Tom Cruise's role, that is true happiness? Did he used money? No, he didn't, rather he was back to the end with his another family, and he stayed there for all his life.
He attained happiness, but not with money, now we turn back and ask, is happiness attainable by money, again, that is up to the individual. It is a chicken and egg question, which comes first? Money? Or Happiness?

Of course it is!we need it to pay for our food, shelter, utility bills, internet bills,ps3,etc
Money is what makes people strive and work harder for the future. It is also what that corrupts and destroy people lives.Happiness comes in different forms and it might not necessarily mean that you will be more happy or anything. However more money does mean that you would have more options to do in your life(travel, study, etc earn all requires $$$) and for that most people believe that
more $$ is happiness.

I think life and happiness is more important than money for me, if you have money maybe you can buy anything but you can buy happiness.
If you have money but you always sick, lost people your love, so i don't think money is only important things for me.

Money doesn't necessarily make people happy, but a lack of money can throw people into a pit of despair causing them to fight all the time. Unfortunately, money is needed for survival, and without it, we can't but food, shelter, electricity, water or anything that is needed to survive. Al lack of money brings people fear of being thrown out onto the street, or going hungry, and thus causes anxiety and stress. When my company decided to stop paying us, but demand we work overtime, I became heavily stressed out and irritable because I was freaked out that I wouldn't be able to pay my rent, and would lose my home.
So, in my opinion, money doesn't bring happiness, but a lot of the things related to it do, such as a good job (which brings in the money) a secure and stable shelter (which you pay for with money) and being healthy (which you fix with money).

Man, man, man,... that is a difficult question because first of all it depends on what kind of character you are but very importantly... under which circumstances one grows or grew up. With so many cultures and social status in nowadays society, the points of views differ immensly.
Well to me, money is of course important. Or let's just say... With little money I wouldn't have anything to enjoy except boring housework, a job and ... fighting for survival... and that's it. So it would cause me despair of course. But entertainment facilities like the one "that I am using right now" (in other words Computer and the Internet, for example) cost hell a lot of money, and if I wouldn't earn a lot, I wouldn't be able to enjoy our beloved discussion in a forum like this.
But let's also say... when the wealthier people in the world would use their money to help the less luckier people it would build up a helping hand society, of course not perfect, but as a start.

Without money, life would be terrible. Money does give us happiness in a way, we need it to get a lot of things in life. So yes money is important to me.
YES, it's very VERY IMPORTANT to me!! 'Cause I buy very very much things and also expensive ones!! Very much also!! So it's really REALLY IMPORTANT to/for me!!

Its important to everyone
true it cant buy true happiness, it can buy things to take our minds of the things we cant have, i do it all the time, even if the happiness bought only lasts around a few days.
also we do need money to live in this day and age, well an enjoyable life anyway. so its very important for that reason

We need money in order to survive, but we can never experience true happiness by them, money is a good servant but a bad master. Just like all other things in life, this also can be seen in with pros and cons, it's good because you can live an easier and more flexible life, you don't have to worry about your economy and you can do many things (not like magic or something, but realistic staff, like many trips, go out a lot, buy expensive staff etc). Without money, you'll experience exactly the opposite, but, you will learn much more about life and also evolve some strategic skills, like, you won't have enough money to buy a new car, but if you save money for a while, you will still be able! maybe not right away, but after some time, you will still have what you wished for. You learn to have patience, you learn that you can't have everything you want exactly at the time you want, you appreciate life and its content, you don't put much focus on money itself, but much more on family, friends, things that mean something to you, with money in your life, you will always be in a competition, you will always want to win and gain more money and buy more new things and do greater staff... and there is a cycle, never ends... you will become addicted in the end and that's it. I'm not claiming that money isn't good (or perhaps I do, I wish that money didn't exist or at least that they wouldn't be appreciated so much, because people are so much addicted these days that they have no idea what is the most important thing in the world...), you shouldn't save money the whole time, forget to live your life and do things, because you only live once and you should spend money, but also know when to stop shopping and where there is a limit, you have to balance it.
Besides, life seems much easier when you have everything, so what would there be to learn and evolve? life is much more interesting and meaningful when we have to struggle, when we have to suffer and when we have to overcome challenges, because without a possibility of failure, victory is meaningless. You have a goal and you are ready to achieve it no matter what, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step, and for every step that you take the nearer the goal you get, the way you take might not be straight, it might not be kind, it might not be shiny, but you have courage and faith in your heart, and if you believe, it's enough, you will succeed and experience true happiness, and also pride, which is much more worth because you will have succeeded the same thing with a big battle from which you will have a great experience no one can ever take away from you, and that will count much more than already having money and spending them with no second thoughts.

18 year-old-little-girlWe need money in order to survive,
We need intelligence in order to survive. Money is complementary.
18 year-old-little-girlbut we can never experience true happiness by them,
money is a good servant but a bad master.
Money is a tool used good or badly. The problem is money on the hands of fools. So, it is not a question of money being a master, is about lack of intelligence, consequently, lack of knowledge.
18 year-old-little-girlJust like all other things in life, this also can be seen in with pros and cons, it's good because you can live an easier and more flexible life, you don't have to worry about your economy and you can do many things (not like magic or something, but realistic staff, like many trips, go out a lot, buy expensive staff etc).
Who have money do worry about economics, and who don’t have money actually don’t give a dam about economy, because don’t have intelligence or knowledge to make money, and due to this, don’t know a thing about economy, only what the television says, and television is entertainment.
Money will never make your life easier or flexible, it demands responsibilities, otherwise you end like other fools with nothing, alone and being hated.
18 year-old-little-girlWithout money, you'll experience exactly the opposite, but, you will learn much more about life and also evolve some strategic skills, like, you won't have enough money to buy a new car, but if you save money for a while, you will still be able!
This is not strategy, this is basics, the same as to walk.
18 year-old-little-girlBesides, life seems much easier when you have everything, so what would there be to learn and evolve?
Everything. When you think you have everything, you have nothing. Life is not materialistic, but spiritual. Reaching your full purpose is not about having material goods, but the right direction and intelligence to seek education to pursue your goals. Is more about perseverance on what you want than competition to be in the first place.

This is the real meaning of life, this is when we really learn something.
This is the ultimate lesson.
Applauds for tifa!
To Omnidevil: I'm not implementing a philosophical discussion, rather it is a personal/direct question. The study of what true happiness may be or rather just what may be is another matter. I meant happiness as it is understood in general, nothing complicating. Don't try to complicate a matter when it does not need to be.
"It is a chicken and egg question, which comes first? Money? Or Happiness?" - I asked the second question in conjunction to the first, which comes first is not necessary here.

I guess money can buy happiness. Well, for me at least. I get such a feeling of happiness or satisfaction when I buy something- though this is always temporary.
I guess if I had a steadier income, I wouldn't get so down about spending, but I don't earn very much at all, and I spend a lot.
As a cosplayer, you have to spend a lot to get a good product. I guess thats why money is important to me, because cosplay really is a link to my friends, and I have a lot of fun doing it.
And money really is important to everyone- without money, you don't get food, shelter, any of the basics of human life..
