How important is money to you?

The whole reason I am going to school 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, putting up with at least 5 hours of homework every night, volunteering like crazy in the community, is for money. So yeah, I would say it definitely has importance in my life.
But does money equal happiness? Nope. I could be the richest man in the world and still be unhappy all the time. Of course with money in this world, I could probably attain happiness through the means of material items easier than a poor person. Meaning I wouldn't be starving, I would have shelter as opposed to a homeless person. But humans each choose their own lifestyles, so I can not tell someone how to live their life, just like how they can not tell me how to live mine.
Money though is definitely something most people desire just because it has come to have connotations of happiness in our society.

tofuguyIt does not have much value for me outside of the means for survival and support of my future family. And I don't think it will be much of a benefit to my happiness because I'm already content with what I have for the most part and hope to be in the future.

Money, like air, doesn't seem to matter much until you don't have enough. While most of us can agree that there is a point where more money will do little more than buy frivolous toys, there are definitely those who would benefit greatly from an increased quality of life. There is something to be said about growing up poor and having "the joy of a wellfare Christmas" or those forced to grow up in ghettos or slums because they cannot afford anything else.
I'm not sure exactly at what point you cross that line in the sand from poverty to a 'reasonable' standard of living to needless luxury. I'm sure everyone has their own version of those standards.
I believe that in addition to a comfortable level of being able to afford the basics (housing, food, clothing, transportation, etc), a higher education is important, as is traveling and the occassional ability to explore some of the less common experiences in life. Things like skydiving and horseback riding cost money but I'd also argue that those kinds of experiences really do help to round a person out.

To me money doesn't mean much as long as I have enough to live on and fulfil my small wishes. It's not something that makes me happy or not, it's more like a tool that makes achieving happiness a bit easier. Also, happiness is not a set state for me.

Money is what you need. the only time you dont have to worry about it is when you are left with a million dollars in multiple trust accounts with a big interest rate

A few days ago someone at TV said: "Money can't make you happy. But when it's gone, you realize that it can make you very unhappy."

I really don't care how rich or poor I am in the future. I could be happy poor and living in a small room it would suit me fine. That doesn't mean I'm not gonna try for a decent job/salary cause I'm going to college and stuff but it really doesn't take a lot to make me happy. I guess my parents saying no when I asked for something when I was a kid resulted in this. I really don't need anything... I haven't asked for anything for Christmas/birthday for quite a few years now. lol

Thing with money is it really depends per person how valuable it is like if you think about it their are alot of people where if they just had the money they could become stars, idols, or like if they had the money they could save their family etc.
Money is actually pretty important to me cause like it helps create oppurtunities for me to do something that I could do if I had the money. In a sense money grants you some power in a sense cause like without money their are alot of things you have to struggle in life and alot of things that you end up worrying about. Like everyday your working in a 8 hour job just to earn enough money to come by with your bills and your pay check immediately goes to paying the debts you owe, the food you need to buy, and other things. Like if you had money you wouldn't have to be like doing that kind of thing everyday rest of your life. Like if you had money your time could be used elsewhere enjoying with friends, things you want to actually do. There are alot of people who have dreams that have never been fulfilled because of the constraints of money. But yeah I think money is pretty important.

Temporary happiness can be bought, though not in a long term. Having a lot of money would certainly make my life easier. It wouldn't make me happy though, but the first few years would probably be hell fun

Sure, money isn't everything - there is always something you can't buy with money. But you can try to achieve it through the use of money (for example buying a car and being able to visit friends more often or buying home cinema equipment for movie-nights with your friends or something like that...).

I support the idea that money is important,
At least to me it is,
It is something that allows me to do the things I want, have internet connection and such but maybe not as important as things like love for anime and manga. If I didn't have a hobby and such, money would be useless to me.
So in combination of other factors, money currently is very important to me.

To me money is very important to me as it is not only the means for survival for me it is also my entertainment, mainly because without money I wouldn't have all this good stuff that I have today. To me money does bring me happiness because I only need a few things to be happy and all of these things can be bought with money. so money to me is not only important it is also a thing that provides happiness. Without money i doubt much people would be happy though we could all just go back to the way humans used to live but for me without anime it would be a horrible world.
Money makes life more confortable & easier, brings happiness, health, food of every day.. etc. The most important thing is that it can save your life (in case of disease or accident). Its a lifeguard & thats why imo its really important for everybody to have.
Money is just a mediator.
