What's your take on killing animals?
Not only dogs are cooked and eaten as pulutan also cats, frogs, lizards, and even horses.,
In my general opinion killing animals for sport only is cruel. We're already depleteing the resources and causing many animal species to go extinct. But if you think about it human beings as a species have been killing animals since we were apes living in Africa. The protein that the meat provided actually allowed our brains to get bigger. Which in turn allowed for more complex ideas and thinking. If we hadn't started eating meat our species wouldn't have survived. Now I'm against people killing animals for sport just to prove they've killed the biggest and badest. That is egotistical and wrong.
Humans always believe that they are superior beings the next closest to God.Thus its perfect ok to kill and hunt animal for food or leisure. For those "cuter"(dogs/cats) or closer to extinct animals(polar bear/panda,etc) we "pretend" that they are precious to us and preserve and protect them.In short we decide what kind of animals deserve to die and live.In conclusion animals that does not appeal to humans die ,end of story.Sad to be animals.

For food, it is all okay.
no matter what it is, or how it is done.
our ancestors did it, we still do, primitive? That is subject to debate.

As human being, most of us eat meat. And I don't think geting food from animal meat is wrong. But else if for some other reason to killing animals, such as killing bears or foxes for their fur, or killing whales for their meat, that'll be very bad.
People get animal for their survial, that's very natural, but when people get greed and kill animal for geting rich or any other vicious purpose, then they are just like devils, and will oneday be punished by GOD!

It's nothing new, but my stand here is simple. You don't kill animals if you don't intend to eat them or they don't pose an immediate threat to you or other people. Doing otherwise would be quite harmful for the planet.

Killing animals for food to survive is ok to an extent. but killing animals for fun especially endangered ones is a BIG NO. people can survive without ivory and fur

Ha lol. I agree, funny too.
When I was young, I was a demented little kid, I found joy in torturing little bugs. I'd put snails and slugs on hot pavement, and put a ring of salt around them so they can't get out, setting roaches on fire, and just other stuff along those lines. But as I got older I realized these are creatures just trying to survive, and even if I disliked them, there was no point in inflicting extreme pain before they die, don't get me wrong, I hate roaches and will squash any in sight, but I just lost the urge to torture them.
I'm starting to think, actually, we kill too much. Here are some interesting facts and figures from Mark Bittman at ted.com:
Animals and Junk food:
-We don’t need either of them for health (animals products, white bread, coke)
-Both have been marketed heavily creating an unnatural demand
-Their production has been promoted by government agencies at the expense of more health and earth-friendly diet
In America, 10 billion animals are killed each year for consumption. If you strung them together they would go to the moon and back 5x.
Cattle are being raised unnaturally, eating soy and corn that are hard for them to digest. For the producers, this isn't a problem because they can develop drugs to keep them alive, not "healthy".
In between 1950 and 2000, world population doubled, but meat consumption increased 5-fold.
30% of the earth’s land surface are either directly or indirectly devoted to raising animals we all eat.
Experts who are actually concerned about people's health recommend adults eat only a little over half a pound of meat per week. We eat a pound of meat per day.
We don’t eat animals for sufficient nutrition, we eat them to have an odd form of malnutrition
Stop raising animals industrially, and stop eating them thoughtlessly
And finally, "Less meat, less junk, more plants"

The reason why I brought these ideas to this topic is because after watching that video, I just might start eating a lot less meat. The statistics scare me, a lot. People back in the day didn't eat processed food like McDonalds, Poptarts, Pringles, and other junk food mentioned in the video. Back then, early 1900's, people ate whatever was grown, like fruits and vegetables.
So back to the topic about killing animals and whether or not that's immoral or not. In a broader sense to me, now, it's becoming immoral, because I question the worth of killing animals for the sake of our own selfish consumption, not for self-nutrition, but for self-satisfaction. I'd say we're killing too much. That's not to say we can't eat animals anymore, but the way we treat animals and the amount we kill just isn't worth what's coming out the other end, and all of that is illustrated in the video, like the fact that 18% of greenhouse gases come from methane from cows, some cancers, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, those all come from over-consumption of animals.

Cause i love animal so i do think that it's immoral for killing dogs, cats or horses, but i hate bugs or insects so i don't mind killing them all, i wish they have never existed! And those animal like snake, mouses, spider ect... i also hate them from deeply bottom of my heart!I can't stand even only seeing them make me angry and scared... i wish such things would disappear.
I don't think eating animals is evil or wrong. But I agree that most of us eat far too much meat. I've worked on a farm and I've hunted too and I insist on treating animals with respect and dignity.
Having said that-I'm also a softy and won't eat veal and am thinking of giving up pork thanks to a friendly pet pig I met! I'd never hunt for a trophy or fur. Just feels wrong to me.

I have to agree that you shouldn't kill for sport, but it is far better than killing in sick horrible ways. Sometimes sport helps population control, which is supposed to be very good. I'd have to do more research before making a definitive response, but right now I only think you should kill for need.
To answer the topic question, it's not immoral if you kill animals for food or as eronth said, population control. It's only disgusting if you kill animals for sport. But then again, killing animals for sport is also part of nature. Dolphins attack and kill porpoises for no apparent reason, too. Is it immoral that some animals such as hippos would kill the offspring of other hippos (and the father) just so that they could mate with the female hippos? Sure is, but it's nature.
Lol.. Sure, it's nature but humans weren't given larger brains and the power to choose for no reason.. o__o I think saying that we were animals anyway or whatever is just a silly excuse. Even though we are part of nature and we have these animal instincts, we still have bigger brains than them XD and we are obviously smarter than them.. so we should at least put our huge brains to good use. o_o
