As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

There are alot of movies out these days and to me some of them are just a waste of time.lol
So in your opinion what factors contribute to a good movie?

Um, good movie have Good characters and they have interested personalities.
And the story must be interesting and must have enought action, not the battles but not like the main character: "Now i'm lying in bed and sleeping this whole movie".

End of the story have to be good and It Must Not be ended like it would continue.

Sorry my bad english I hope you can read that and I hope I got the right idea xD

Well developed characters are the hallmark of a good movie. If the character starts with cliche's or have little background it often weakens the story significantly.

Movies that try to load up on special effects and cg, but have weak or poor story can't compensate for the weakness, no matter how much star power you put in it.

Hollywood in the last 5 years has really lost it. They simply rehash things. What's worse is I can just about bet that in the next 20 years you're going to see Hollywood doing rehash of strong anime titles and completely ruin them.

Shitload of shit movies and only a few good movies comming out these days.

And people are going back to the old classics and some are actually quite good and others are just pile of shit ruining the whole thing.

WTF was terminator salvation? No I don't care what people say to justify it but it was shit.
Don't even get me started at transformers 2, wtf was that? though it can be excused at the level that no one really went to see it and expected a story, just robots fighting. and megan fox and lucas

I agree with tunika about the ending of movies, it should give a feeling of closure.

character development and good characters at that are really backbone to a movie, so is the plot.

Yes I agree with you but I just cant help but wonder why Hollywood is loosing its touch with movies?

HEHEHE your english is great hun!
What I dont understand is why directors are overduing action scenes.Yes of course they are not suppose to just stand there and do nothing but in some movies they have gone to far like for example the terminator movie, there was to much of blowing up people, but I will say that it was good.the same thing does for the wolverine movie there was too much action.

Okay dont say any more on transformers because I havent seen that yet haha!
Well they reason why Iwould see transformers any wasy is cuz I have seen the anime form ever since I was alittle kid so I have there is no turning back now.lol I was just talking about that I dont understand why terminator has to blow up people every 2 secounds thats is soo disapointing on so many different levels

In direct contrast to the wastes of film that were Terminator 4 and Transformers 2, this movie gives me hope that there may be a good sci-fi movie this summer. A person can hope, can't they?

In my opinion, what makes a great movie is strong plot and character development. You'll really notice the difference between an OK movie and a great one. Shawshank Redemption is one thats high on my list. But then there's also movies that are pretty unique... Twelve Monkeys comes to mind.

Good movies are really hard to find these days. I think it's because all the original ideas have been used up already. A lot of the movies these days are just remakes of really old ones, like War of the Worlds, The Day the Earth Stood Still, etc etc.

The last good movie I watched was Letters from Iwo Jima by Clint Eastwood, and unlike most Hollywood movies you don't get any of that propaganda, patriotic crap. Instead, you get a really sympathetic depiction of the lives of Japanese soldiers who were stationed on that island. It really didn't feel like an American film at all because 95% of the dialogue was Japanese and there was one part where a marine executed these two Japanese soldiers who were trying to surrender.

And I absolutely love movies that get so much hype like the ones people have already mentioned in this thread and the reviews turn out like crap in the end. I should know better to only listen to other people's opinions on a movie and not watch it yourself, but when I scrolled through the comments of Dragonball Evolution on imdb.com I just lost all the motivation to watch it.

It's always a matter of taste. If the Industry keeps making crap and people keep going to the teathers to watch it, is because said crap sells. Said people like crap. Sometimes the movie is so bad the investment made on it is not fully returned, but it's based on a formula that sold once, so they'll exploit it as long as there are people who might be interested. There's no genre that sold zero and disappeared because of it.

Personally, a good movie should make me want to watch to the end and give me a good feeling afterwards.

And in comedy movie I hate when there is stupid jokes and bored "funny" scenes. And I really don't like those jokes what are some sex-jokes. I't more fun to watch family movie than a "funny" strip club movie, whats meant to be Funny.

Okay again I'm explanning something weird XD

I agree with you because poeple are trying to re-make the "balck in the day movies" and are failing miseriblly! People are trying to make the movies better then what they were and its actually ruining the original movies. A movie that come to mind was "The Day The Earth Stood Still" and "Invasion". Now Invasion was the most nastiest movie ever,it made my stomach turn. The only reason I saw that movie was because Nicole Kidman stared in it,and I think she is a great actress.Another reason was because I saw the original version and loved it.lol I also saw the original version of TDTESS and it was Awesome too.I could watch that movie again but I wish there wasnt alot of things takened away from the movie.:/

Hmmmm, it's hard to find a movie that has everything, everything you like, they all have small things from everything, but not everything, and when somebody asks you what you thought about the movie you just say, it was good...... but...... could have been better? (you surely thought about many improvements already(^3^) emoticon). For me, it must have a good start, not a storyteller trying to tell a story, but instead a fascinating event that immediately catches my attention, then after that the story itself must be fascinating as well, filled with great events, characters getting revealed, fiends, a problem being solved eventually, and happy ending of course<3 emoticon. And if there was a point with the movie, like, many of the movies show something, they have a meaning, they try to tell you something about life, it's even better.

I think there are no special atribute a good movie must have. It only need to have a good and coherent atmosphere.

(But a movie which starts wiht a big explosion, cant be so bad.)
