How much do you care?
DrusilaI think that ignoring other peoples opinions is wrong, everyone should have the right to have a opinion of there own so that we can discuss them and find out that everyone is different.
I partially agree to that. I do believe that ignoring others opinions is wrong the actual reason I see is that by talking with other people you gain expiriences that else you would have to live for yourself. So, one possitive thing from sharing expiriences is learning from your friends' mistakes and not do the same ;)
DrusilaI have been a person which liked to care for people even though I didn't really knew them, opening doors and helping people with stuff even though I didn't know them was fun I thought. But lately humans have become so ungrateful when I open a door for a old woman which has a hard time walking she walks through the door ignoring me totally and after that people just continues to run through the door so that I can't let go of it because I don't want to hurt anyone. Suddenly I have gotten the job of holding the door for everyone and no one thank me instead if I try to let go of the door they look angrily at me.
I know exactly what you mean.
I used to be the exact same type of guy, being polite and stuff. But lately all i see around me is greed and ungreatfullness from others around me. So i stopped carring about most of them and kept going with my life. I do help old men and women when i see them though because i know they apriciate that and they show it with a smile and a big "thanks son" which makes me happy and boosts my self esteem.
Feeling a better person is a great thing, dont be afraid to open the door for the ones you know will apriciate it...
I always thought most people didn't care about stuff that didn't affect them -.-

I live my life with one idea in my mind : live YOUR life! you don't have to care about what others and what they think. That can be about their own life and believes or about the way you are leading your own life! As long as you don't hurt anybody and nobody is hurting you, then you don't have to care!

Depends. I care about school and the things that happen there academically.
I care about a lot of things that are everyday, but if it's a big thing and I can't do a thing about it, then I just don't care. I guess I care more about small life.

I care A LOT. lol I care about other things so much that I often get annoyed or pissed even though it doesn't have anything to do with me. Although celebrities aren't part of my over-caring attitude lol. I think that NOT caring is a bad attitude, it pisses me off that people don't care about more important things in life. I am really bothered that some of my friends are a bit insensitive and self-centered because they seem to care only about their lives. o__o They don't listen or participate actively during group activities in class, I think it's rude. Anyway, although I do care a lot about stuff, it doesn't mean that I stick my nose into it.. I talk to people when I notice something but I don't tell them to do what I want them to do.. hehe. x__x I think its dangerous if people stop caring about others..I think people who don't care are the reason why this world is so rotten.. XD hehe.
Ever since i started bodybuilding my whole life changed. I used to be a die-hard gamer (as well). Bodybuilding gives me a way out of the 'actual' life. On top of that it's a other way of socialising. I mean, I go there, do my thing and afterwards i usually chat with others, about... fitness, sports and such. I don't care about the rest of the world like: I study, but that's it. Friends,.. hmm no i don't have them, i mean not friends from school. You talk with people for like one year, and that's it, then you'll never see them again.
Basicly i only care about the things i gain something from. Like my basketbal friends, they can still teach me things, and i can teach them things.
When i was like 16, i used to care about other people. The only problem is -like some have said already- that when you need people to care about you... no one is there. So i decided to let people in my life, but only people whom i care about or whom i can gain something from. These are often guys though, mainly because girls often disapoint you (for example: you're like, hey lets go to ****, and she's like: yeah! good idea, but just a day later she's like: oh no, tomorrow i can't. I already have something to do with one of my friends. Now, the only friends i have which are girls, are my friends whom i can watch a movie with, just to chill out. Another reason why guys are better friends then girls (for me) is that girls usually want YOU to call them, instead of them calling you (for once). You're often the one who has to make the move (even if neither of you wants a relationship). Never will they call you to say "hey, lets go..".
Anyways, what i'm trying to say is:
- Don't care about the people who don't care about you
- Only care for people whom you can gain something from (and whom you can give something to)
- be like "accept me for the way i am, i'm not going to change, just for you".
- Living your own life... Rocks xD

I have to admit there's not much I care about at all. I care for a few personal affects and hobbies, anime for example but on the whole - if it doesn't effect me, something/one I like, then I couldn't care less. The thread owner also made a very interesting point about what other people seem to care about - celebrities. Couldn't give a cr*p how many time Britney Spears got pregnant, although admittedly I am only vaughly aware she is some kind of music person.
Even if you're a huge fan, there's a difference between being a fan and being one of those pathetic people who are obsessed with the lives of famous people. I mean I'm a big fan of Wendee Lee (LOVE her sexy voice [yes I know she's like 50] ^.^; ) but I couldn't care less about her personal life; all I care about is what anime she dubs. So in short there's really no excuse for people who obsess and gossip about the lives of celebrities, it has nothing to do with them and doesn't affect them in any way.
This is also a good point to drag up Big Brother. OMFG, it's insane, I mean WHO THE HELL CARES? Yet so many weak minded people go nuts for it. But then again that could just be a hobby.
Maybe caring about things that don't affect you is a hobby? I don't know. Bottom line is there is no "right" way to lead you're life. Admittedly there are things that hinder your survival (crime for example) and could be argued to be a !bad" way of leading your life. As far as caring goes, you're not alone in not caring about things that don't affect you.

About your WRX, I find as a fellow car enthusiast that if you like your car then no one elses opinion matters, take for example my favorite car the Nissan Silvia S13. Most people I know say it's just a normal ugly, boxy looking car. But the reason I love it is that people underestimate it's power just by judging by the way it looks, I love the fact that it hard to find a person who feels the same about it, It makes me feel like it's my own.
It's good to have a personal opinion on something because as it is coming from you, not your friends or family, it means that it is something you truly feel is right, not someone else, you.

I don't care
Depends, the impact in my life, like, a political change concerning your job, right to study etc etc, I think many care a lot about such things. What others do with their lives is none of our business, at least not mine, if it is supposed to exist gay couples then so may it be, I am not interfering. What concerns hollywood stars is none of my business either, I might have something to say, an opinion, but I am not sharing it with anyone unless that person wants to hear my opinion, and secondly I don't really care what they do because it's their lives and they are adults, they know what is right and wrong, so why should I worry about what they are doing? they don't even know that I exist. On the other hand, if I see something happening near me, an accident of some kind, especially when it comes to children, I feel bad unless I do something about it.
