As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

Well if animes didnt have stupid childish cheesy scenes & plots & characters id be able to show them to my friends so they can see how awesome it is

but i cant b/c rlly nearly all animes are weird

& even the few good ones (like Death Note) have stupid scenes that i think are unnecessary & suicidal
&
i dont know but mangas tend to be better than anime & even in cases in which manga are made into anime the original manga is better than the animation (due to fact that animes get ruined by gay voice acting & edits)

I can imagine a new genre of animation that I'd call "counter anime" which essentially plays out like anime plots but is absent of all the bad/weird aspects of anime & characters look like real humans. it'd be equivalent to alternative music in contrast to bubblegum pop

the truth is that anime characters dont look like homo sapien sapiens & the drawing style looks only good for depicting likes of caucasians although in fact caucasians look totally different. ive seen rlly handsome or cute people who dont look like anime characters at all but many anime fans seem to be occupied too much with whats on the computer screen that they forget the awesome beauty of people in real life

No it isn't an unpopular hobby. Its really a sub-culture lifestyle. I have 12 friends that like anime that outnumber my friends that don't like it. Anime is a great thing to get into. Don't let the haters bring you down.

Anything can be lonely if it's your only interest.

I actually prefer anime to be a "lonely hobby" if by lonely you mean watching by one's self. I like being totally involved in watching the series with no distractions or comments from those around me. Though, of course there are times when anime viewing with others is fun, but I just prefer otherwise. I've got plenty of friends in my area, from my school, and from conventions who I share my love of anime with.

And I'd have to say that the only part of anime I enjoy alone is actually watching it. Otherwise I cosplay and attend many conventions, and meet all kinds of fans that way. It doesn't have to be lonely if you reach out to the community, whether in person or online.

And if you don't have many friends who are big fans of anime, show them a few series and perhaps you'll change their view on it.

For me, it doesn't feel like a lonely hobby because I always watch anime with my sister :) I can also discuss it sometimes with my cousins, who are also into anime! I don't discuss anime much with my friends, but I rarely hang out with friends in the first place ;_;

It does feel like it's a hobby that's looked down on though, even though it's becoming so popular that American cartoons are mimicking the anime style. [sarcasm]We all know cartoons are for kids.[/sarcasm]

It can be and not be.

If you share this same hobby with other people, then obviously you'd have them to talk to about an upcoming series, latest episodes, etc.

But if not, then yes, it might feel like you've been isolated D:

Hmm..it doesn't really matter to me. :D Hehe.. I'd rather be known to watch anime than do drugs or smoke or have premarital sex LOL :)) It's true though, since that's what's happening to the youth today..well in our country that's what's happening.. Anyway, being an anime fan isn't lonely, it's quite fun. It's what makes me different from my friends. And there are a lot of things I can learn from anime. Sometimes there are stuff in class that I already understand because I learned it from anime. haha :D My only talent is drawing and anime is a good way for me to enhance my skills so I don't think of it as a lonely hobby, in fact, it's fun. :D

Yeah, even though it seems that millions of people love anime/manga, even more people are not into them.

At my school, I only know 4 people who has watched more than 4 series of anime, or read more than 2...umm, volumes of manga. (because they just buy one volume and feel happy >>).

But, I still have the internet, so it's OK.

Few of my friends share my passion for anime, but I think that makes this hobby even more special.

It wasn't always a lonely hobby for me. When I start out watching Anime, I watch it together with my sibling. Now that we live in a world of personal computer were everyone has their own PC, we no longer have to watch it together. We now watch it on our own time and watch the series each of us like. So yea, it become lonely.

I have never once considered being a fan of anime would make me lonely. Mostly because all of my friends are big anime fans like me and because I just enjoy solitude a lot. I love drifting away in a good show and absorb as much as I can. It's an amazingly good way to have the weight of other things disappear for awhile, as well as getting a deeper sense of connection and involvement from the ones you watch. Even if you alone out of your group of friends enjoy watching it, you still don't have to be lonely. Sites like these let you express your views about anime with other anime fans. I don't think there is ever a true feeling of loneliness about watching it in this day and age, that's one of the great things about the internet.

I would say it all depends. I won't say being a anime fan is lonely, I actually enjoy watching anime by myself cause when you're really into it and you're watching it with friends they might be making noise and talking and just plain old distracting you; so watching it by myself is fine with me. On the other hand my brother(who was the one to introduce me to anime) and I talk about anime that we both like. Then other times it's fun to watch it with your friends. Some of my friends and I got together and watched Ouran High School Host Club and killed ourselves laughing and it was fun. We also suggest anime we think we might enjoy and talk about it, not all the time but...

Also I won't say anime is an unpopular hobby, maybe a few years ago sure but now the amount of persons that watch anime is almost ridiculous even persons I wouldn't think would be into it watch it; maybe not as religiously as some but they still do. As for your friends that don't like anime, at one time neither did any of my friends and trust me trying to explain it to them is a waste of time mostly, you need go get them to watch some of it and before you know it they're hooked! Just got to find some stuff that would appeal to them. And hey don't let it get you down, anime rocks; I know it, you know it and sooner or later they'll know it too.

I don't think so, but I know some people are... these are caused by much social rejeciton. They will soon get over it (I hope... I had a friend, which did not make it) so some may not.

Most people are just afraid to share their opinion (this is iRL) since they dislike rejection. When online these people are not afraid since they does not reveal their true selves aka "Acting like a cool person" [The Great Pretender issue]

People like anime because we like it. Others may think its lonely since they don't like it. All of us are different and that's why there are lots of things which people share and lots of things where people contrast.
