Do you think Robots will take over the world?
Humans are going to take over the world using machines.
No matter where technologie gets, there will be for sure a group of people controlling the machines. It will appear to the rest that machines have takes over the world.
There is always a small group of people behind the scenes...

They probably will. I don't know how they won't considering all the things technology is advancing these days. Take for instance communication technology. Take for instance the increase in the understanding of robots. That will allow them to learn at a much faster rate than humans. There will be no way for humans to compete against that sort of advancement. With knowledge, they can evolve themselves into higher beings. We will never have a chance at all. That said, we might just robotocize everyone and thus in a way we'd all be robots.
You see things like the Matrix but I'm more inclined to believe that it will be much more cooperative rather than anti-human type. There have been a lot of anime about things like this as well. If you look at something like the fairly classic anime such as ghost in the shell, you'll see some of this. Otherwise there is still the idea of androids. I'm not positive about the definitions though so they may actually be considered separate entities.
With time will come change. It's inevitable that there will be change to the human race into one more reliant on technology. Eventually we'll just become a part of the technology itself through andriods.

Man, forget the robots. Where’s our flying cars?!?!
No, I don't think that, not if we program them in the right way, that is, that they do good staff and come in handy somehow. Ok now I am talking from another perspective about the movie, but I think that the last movie, terminator salvation, was totally terrific, absolutely the ultimate movie I've seen for a big while
, but anyways, back to the discussion, robots can never be more clever than a human being, because it is up to us to program everything in their minds, so whatever they will be able to do will be thanks to the humans. Whether the robots do good staff or not is up to us, I don't know how they will be able to make it on their own, like, think and decide to kill all human beings on their own, I think it's a bit beyond possible. We could program them if we wanted, for revenge or whatever...

"No one is more dangerous than man himself." No robot will try to kill us unless someone wants to kill somebody by using a robot, then from then on, I could say, that will be the start of human-killing robots. Man made & will make their doom, and no one's to blame for it. But if you'll ask me if I think Robots will take over the world, I could say yes, they can, if we let take over. As long as there are people to maintain the balance, I believe they won't.
I wouldn't say robots will kill the world. In my belief Man has that power and only that power to do so. However I do think that one day humans will loss the ability to communicate with one anther with out have some kind of interface going on.

No.
In the end, technology cannot think for itself and create original ideas.
Technology may be programmed, but there is only so much deviation that can occur in processes. All processes follow an algorithm, and to an extent, are predictable. Humans are the ones who created technology, and it is unlikely that technology will control us because it would take amazing advances in technology to do so. We should be quite safe for a few hundred, if not a few thousand years to come. Even if technology , like robots, do turn against us, we can always battle against that defiance with other technology that we've created. It's inprobable that robots will dominate over us on a large scale degree. Hopefully, they never take control of us!

The question isn't "Will they", It's "How long".
Well I think machines in general will but not all I,Robot style. Just that we'll count on machines for everything in the future.

I dont think that robots will take over the world, in a big apocalyptic or warfare type of way, however, if you think about it, robots already have taken over the world. Well, technology at least. Think of what happens when theres a blackout- its so hard to function. In this way, technology HAS taken over the world, in that we are completely dependent on it. I think also, with the rise in AI, it could be possible to have 'smart' machines. However, I dont think that AI could rival human emotions or logic, in that way, I don't think they'd be possible of coordinating a takeover of humans.
RedZeshinBut I don't believe that all of that reasoning is sufficient for mankind to be "very very afraid" of a robot uprising, as you put it. Why? Because I don't see any reason that robots would want to suddenly start killing us.
As of a year ago, the Pentagon was putting out a request for a "Multi-Robot Pursuit System" that will let packs of robots "search for and detect a non-cooperative human".
http://www.newscientist.com/blogs/shortsharpscience/2008/10/packs-of-robots-will-hunt-down.html
"What we have here are the beginnings of something designed to enable robots to hunt down humans like a pack of dogs. Once the software is perfected we can reasonably anticipate that they will become autonomous and become armed.
We can also expect such systems to be equipped with human detection and tracking devices including sensors which detect human breath and the radio waves associated with a human heart beat. These are technologies already developed."
Robots don't have to find a reason to start killing us, we are racing to create them and program them to do exactly that. The military applications are obvious and the technology is not as far away as you would think. Unmanned vehicles are already capable of an impressive array of feats and we are quickly approaching a point where human control is slowing down time sensitive combat. To think that we won't make deadly military robots autonomous at some point is a bit short sighted.

Umm the previous posts were tltr so forgive me if I say anything already mentioned.
Technology has been advancing every year or two, hence more advanced phones i.e. going from your Motorola RAZR to a shiny new Apple iPhone. If you've seen Sci-fi they always mention how rules will protect them, and then boom they don't, technology for the last 50 years has followed Moore's Law which claims that the amount of transistors on integrated circuits will increase while the price of a single transistor will decrease every year or so. Moore's Law has held up for 50 years with a large degree of accuracy, Moore's Law applies for many things such as Hard Drives, LCD displays, RAM and other things. If Moore's Law holds true there will be a point where there will essentially be spontaneous sentience with a technological being, i.e. a computer or robot. That is called a Technological Singularity, something I don't know off the top of my head... Howstuffworks talks about it fairly well http://computer.howstuffworks.com/technological-singularity.htm

I do not think so. robots will be great partners for us. i think the coopeartion between robot and human should be indispensable. according to the tv program i watched yeaterday, the roles of robots will be very very important to dismantle the nuclear plants. in order to stop the being exposed to radiation, the robots come up big. and robots are prety effective for removal of land mines and duds. so i believe robots have the wonderful posibilities. it should be ideal that robots and human complement one another.

There's always a possibilities
in everything. But I don't think
our technologies is to the point where
we have to worry about robots
taking over the world yet. Maybe
in like 100 years or so.
