I don't know if this topic is repeated or not..

But I just thought it is very nice to talk about family and what does it mean?

I'll be the first to answer.

My family is everything to me. I love them very much and I can't imagine that it could be one day they are out of my life.

Each member of them means something to me. They are all like the warm chest that I need when I feel cold. And they are like the shoulder that I need when I am sad and feeling like to cry.

I know that there are those moments when we fight and get angry, but this does not mean that I hate them or they hate me.

You know sometimes I really learn from my mistakes when I do something bad and they start to yell at me and tell me that I did something wrong and bad.

I know that at the end this is for my own good.

So they really means a lot to me.

They are everything.

I would not say that family is simply limited to those that share your blood, but can be extended to anyone who fits the description you listed above and would say that my family includes very nearly two hundred people.

Ironically only a hand full of actual blood relatives make it into my idea of a family

I as well agree with most of what you two posted.

I have people who I could consider as a family even if they aren't related to me in blood. And they are people who understand me perfectly and be there for me when I need them. In my term of "family", I'd include "girlfriend" too if she could love me for real. Boyfriends, girlfriends, fiancees and so on, if they are meant to be, they are the ones who'll become part of the family in the future.

My family means something to me but how much they mean differs from one member to another due to the conditions I grew up. I love my family members but that doesn't mean I'd always be around them but I'd be there when they need me.

I love my family. They're the ones that would live by me and die by me, and I the same for them. I know I can count on them until the very end!

Once upon a time I extended this definition to those beyond my parents and my brothers, as some of you do... But in recent times I've become gravely disillusioned with the concept of friendship. Friends come and go with the wind, even the close ones, even those you've known for over half your life. They can disappoint you and leave you in the dust, or just simply grow a world apart. There is no strict bond between you. Where a mother will always be a mother and a brother will always be a brother, a friend won't always be a friend, or always be a part of your family.

Sometimes I like to think that I've grown beyond this sort of primitive "bound by blood" concept, to embrace all of humanity as one big family... but my life experience is yet to play kindly to that effect. It's probably just the selfish, immature me, afraid of being hurt again when I know the right thing to do... C'est la vie!

I agree that family can extend beyond blood ties, though there aren't many who I would consider as such. I have lost three of my family members, two of whom I was very close to. So I have a pretty good idea how important family is. Cherish your family, you never know when they may be taken from you.

Family is everything, blood related or not, my friends, my relatives, even my animals, they're all part of my family and I love every single one of them!

No one ever knows the real meaning of the family unless they lost someone so dear to their heart.

For everyone family means a lot, it means their life which they can sacrifice it for their family. Family actually is the main source of happiness, family is the reason of your smile and your laughter, it is like the sun shines upon you and gives you the energy to go on, it is like the moon lights you up whenever you're lonely, it is for sure the blood that runs through your veins, in short family is everything for everyone (Or at least for me).

Out of a personal experience, I have never known the real meaning of the family but after I have lost one member so special to me (my younger sister)"Rest in peace Laura" then I figured it out, Anyhow I must admit that I'm nothing without her, now I'm all on my own, now I'm the only one left for my parents.

However, life goes on and we shouldn’t be sad all the time, because there will be times in which we turn our sadness into happiness, and as I believe the family will be the first to help you out changing all what you wish.

So after all, Family worth our souls and family needs our support and our care.

that is so sweet, I completely agree with you, although I am too young and don't have a family, yet, I can't assume that I know how it is and what it entails, but I know that when the time comes that I will be just like you, I am already badly in love with a guy and feel that it's not worth living without him , so I guess that when I have my own children that I will feel the same way, perhaps even more intense feelings. My parents were too young when they got married and they made so many mistakes, I don't want to repeat the same old mistakes, I would want to be a great role model to my children, teach them good staff, like, to love and forgive, and I would always be by their side, a shoulder to cry on, to listen to their problems and whatever they want to share. I also want to experience a lot now when I am young and only have school to think about, to learn from my mistakes, in order to be a good role model, because without experience you don't learn anything, and of course, it's a good way of understanding my children's actions afterwards, I remember that my parents always screamed at us (me and my brother), and eventually we decided that it probably was better to not tell anything at all. I don't want that, I want my children to know that they have someone to turn to, to rely on, 100%.

Well, I think that having a family means big responsibility, among many other things of course, but first of all, I think you need to know what you truly want and if you are ready, because it's a big change, do everything you want to experience and afterwards when you feel like, it's time, then start to make such plans.

It means a deep and emotional bond between three or more people which can't be broken,this is seen between friends,brothers,sisters,etc.it doesn't have to be a blood relative but as long as you have people around you whom you can trust,well,that to me is family.

“Family,” as far as I’m concerned, simply means people who care for you deeply. They don’t have to be blood related. The only family members I care about are my mom, dad, brother, and aunt, and grandpa. My cousins mean nothing to me (yet), and I’d easily place myself in harm for friends than for them.

I agree with everything you've said.
I value my family so much because they're the ones that are always with me, no matter WHAT happens. They like to see the best in me and will do anything they can to improve me, be it giving me an education or helping me with personal issues. They're the ones who take care of me for free, because they love me...no one else in the world will go so far to nurture me (not yet anyways :P). It is them whom I learn from everyday; even though it is not always sunshine and rainbows, I try to resolve issues and keep an optimistic attitude. I am the person I am today partly because of their influences; their character, their beliefs, everything that can rub off on me. Without them, I wouldn't be anywhere.
