Anime Paper...
Hello
I read many comments on the SB regarding this scan:
Ecchi has existed in this page since it's creation, I enjoy it myself, but the exponentially increasing popularity of Ecchi scans (which a few are turned into wallpapers) has started to worry some members.
Does this trend evidence an underlying problem?
Do regulations regarding Ecchi scans need revision?
Does this topic need to be discussed in depth?
Disclaimer: I have nothing against the scanner of the image or the people in Ecchi group, so please don't take this post as a personal matter or offense. If the discussion turns out of scope, I'll personally ask a mod to close the thread.

I'm going to say this as someone who has been buying magazines and art books for 12 years now: the content is changing. The same art books that were PG in 1999 are often R, even when it comes directly from an anime series. Megami is 10 times more ecchi than when it started. Don't believe me? These are posters that were in the first issue:

And these are the posters that were in the most recent issue:

The art has improved, and the people who buy the magazines want more gratuitous, borderline pictures. And this is a formula for success. What was borderline in 1999 is nothing now.

I agree with Nat, the content of anime magazines is changing.
Probably because times are changing as well.
What people used to consider as "sexy" or "ecchi" 10 years ago now
is considered as normal.
In my opinion, AP's policy regarding ecchi scans doesn't need any revision.
I don't think the scans in the gallery are that vulgar or offensive,
if you don't like them, just don't look at them ^_^''
The discussion in the ShoutBox was probably because of how the scan
was drawn by the artist, not because of its ecchiness.

Yes, it's perverted. Yes, the most popular scans these days tend to be perverted.
I'm pretty neutral on the matter. On one part I think it's slightly insulting the female body in humiliating ways to some, but honestly?
Humans are too conservative and those who aren't are perverted. It's a female body. Is that now supposed to be a shameful thing? It's the most natural thing out there, it symbolizes creation, beauty, balance, nature, peace.
I admit, I most probably never going to go and strip naked in front of a crowd of men, but neither am I ashamed to have breasts, female private parts and such.
Yes, I do think it's perverted and gross; I don't like the fact that most people who can appreciate the picture are perverted men. But neither should it be hidden from anyone. We all know what a naked woman looks like, we all know what a naked man looks like. We're human, and we cherish ourselves. So what's the point of hiding our bodies? There is no shame in them.
So, even though I'm a girl, I think you're just being a conservative wimp. Sorry Gvn, but you are.

Yup~ I'm in line with Nat and Warrior. Scanners are just scanning what's out there. Remember these are just fictional pieces of anime art somebody is drawing. Like what Warrior said, if you don't want to look at scans you find offensive, then don't. Simple as that. As long as the scans are within our guidelines, we'll allow them. I don't think there's a need for a revision either.

Honestly, no adult content is in theses picture.
Ecchi is not pornographic or even erotic.
Ecchi is not pornographic or even erotic.
Of course the definition of H has changed since 1999 and naturally things will get more and more gratuitous as time goes on, but it's nothing to fret about. If the pictures that are flooding the gallery remain a level of H that doesn't include sex, penetration in any way, vaginal shots, or anything beyond that, then it's not really a bother to me. Just be strict about the pics with more than maybe a tit flash or pantsu shot, or maybe a little ass. If you go any further than that then I imagine this site will go the way of moe.imouto and allow sexually explicit material to be uploaded along with safe pictures despite the generally normal audience that used to browse that site.
However if this site agrees that an "adult-only" section or even one for H-related pictures is needed for the scans, then so be it. A little organization never hurt anyone and I don't see why it wouldn't be applicable here.
Just don't screw it all up.

There is no move to go to any explicit material. All the scans by regular members go through the approval queue by an admin, so there's no need to fret.
I agree that the amount of H content seems to be increasing, which may very well be a sign of the times. I agree with FourthEspada that there is nothing wrong with this type of art, and if one happens to have a problem with its sometimes distasteful, often objectified portrayal of women then such an individual may simply avoid looking at it.
I would caution, however, that I believe most members appreciate this site primarily for its laudable artistic merit/integrity and its peaceful atmosphere. Though there is nothing inherently wrong with H content or the people who like it, there is a possibility that a great proliferation of such work upon the site may sully the artistic spirit with an undercurrent of debauchery (note, in this sense this means indulgence in sensual pleasures). There is nothing morally wrong with that either (in a certain sense, since we're all human), but I am suggesting that the atmosphere could simply change. It is possible that there may be users who come to frequent and post on this site solely for the purpose of H material, and not for the wallpapers that are the namesake of Anime Paper. It's possible, though I'm uncertain how likely.

The content doesn't really bother me. To me, this subject is very influenced by a person's psychology and how/what they "feed" their thoughts. The number of people who favor perversion outweigh modesty so to the people who are against/aren't for ecchiness then they just have to not go beyond glimpsing because it can't be avoided completely but you can have self control/discipline. And people who are generally against it that rage about it are just wasting their time when they could just not pay any regard to it; they just feed the fire.
To FourthEspada: It doesn't matter if you're a female or not, gender has no real relevance to the topic or the issue at hand. And it seems you analyze without contextual relevance in mind nor the idea that there is such a thing as modesty/self-discipline. All natural things does not necessarily mean that it is a good thing.
People are all fundamentalists, just in different areas of thought/life/living and that's is what you have to accept.
Edit: And I would like to mention that some things that may be considered "ecchi" does not necessarily make a person think about perverted thoughts (but I would assume this would apply to a select few).

I have to Agree with Nat and Warrior...if you look it's your choice.
Personally I'm neutral, as long as it's not H i'm okay with it. I just did an ecchi wall and vector. Being a girl many people think it's odd that I don't find it offensive rather, I think it's complementary. even if it's on the borderline it's still with in the rules.
And you can only scan what's already out there. Ecchi has given me a deeper appreciation for the human form like one would get gazing at classical sculptures. As long as it's not like Watchmen...(not for kids. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RATED X NOT R)

I would agree with everyone above since nobody is forcing anyone to look at this they don't want. I'm an avid fan of ecchi ever since 10 years ago. There is a thin line between ecchi and H. AP is not like site that force pop-ups in our faces. User has absolute control over what he/she wants. And there are girls who take interest with ecchi as well.
H is defined by abuse, rape and the sort done to another person by <insert item here> (Lol...). While ecchi is like a "teaser/intro" category but still not it.
I was a stalker/leecher of AP for a long time and I appreciate all the things that people do here for the community.
Ecchi can be associated by the word "Sexy"

Well this is one of the reason I came to Animepaper in the first place, NYAYHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!
Okay, actually I am a disciplined person and wouldn't do anything stupid, but which Anime and Manga Culture lover wouldn't mind to see some sexual content and collecting them via wallpaper and scan to his collection...
...as long as one stays down-to-earth, there is nothing to this passion that you rarely talk about in public or towards your elder family members

Personaly i like ecchi so i don't mind if there is ecchi papers . i would like to see more .
It would be nice if Ecchi content are optionally hidden and restricted to users over a certain age only.
Otherwise, if the trend of ridiculous ecchi continues, then people would only be able to appreciate AP for porn.
Also, there are also a lot of young users on the site. =/
I don't know about the "if you don't like them, don't look at them" or the "nobody is forcing anyone to look at this they don't want" idea. Mainly because the front page, and many walls on display on AP, have them plastered everywhere. You really don't have control over what you see, unless they are optionally hidden.
I think this is a problem everyone should increasingly aware about, because ecchi nowdays can be just as bad as hentai. You have -- for example in Gvnkwyr's first post -- a girl with breasts that is twice the width of her entire body. You have, say in ^Nat's post, fully nude women on top of each other.
In short, I hope there's an ecchi-free option when it comes to browsing scans, one day.
