What do you think the world would be like if men acted like women and women acted like men? Would it be a girl giving a guy chezzey lines at a bar? would men have book clubs that make them express their insecurites with one another? If you were in that world what would you do and how waould you act? Is there anything you would say there that would be strange here?

The topic is delicate (and completely interesting, this gonna be a blackbuster forum thread) because switching roles in society is something that has already started: men are more expressive about their feelings, they are playing active roles in childbearing and now they are allowed to take care of their image (although criticized in some societies, the metrosexual phenomena). At the other side, women are participating more in jobs and social roles that were men-exclusively in the past, some of them freely express their aggressiveness and so on. More than a switching, we are experiencing a mixing of roles and attitudes in an eclectic way, and in the future both genres will look and act very similar.
Is hard to discuss this topic without involving sexist theories. My best and neutral guess is that if roles would suddenly and totally switched it will be odd at the beginning, but with time we'd get used to it and the whole situation would be normal.

In some cultures the roles are reversed.
women are the ones who are expected to go and find a husband or lover. but in todays north American society the switching of traditional gender roles are begining to blur anyways. men are allowed to be sensitive, and women can be dominant in courtship roles. this world is slowly being flipped.

Well I like to think Im already kind of a boy. I love video games way to much and comc books and I think Im like the most un girly girl I know I cruse alot like a drunken sailor, Plus commenting on the thing thewarangel said I would totally go and grab a guys ass . But if all you guys woke up one day with a cooch I think you would all stay home a play with your selfs. 
I wish i could see that in my country,but that would be awesome cause it would shut those sexist men saying that women should have more delicate jobs,but what I'm seeing is that women these days are having more jobs that a man would have which means that at some point,all men will have feminine jobs and women will have masculine jobs(I predicted 2012 event).

Well I think its gonna be hard to assimilate at first, but when all the situation is normalized I think the story would start again, women are going to be the heads of the house the ones that do the hard work and men are going to do the laundry clean the house etc. and past the years that is going to change again, and so the story repeats, ah so messy

The thread that I was looking for though I can only say a few words.
I have witnessed some of the changes and I find it pleasant and funny. Pleasant in a way because finally a man can do a woman's job and vice versa. Funny because...is what I'm seeing reality?

I don't really consider myself to be very feminine. I don't dress in a very feminine way, I'm not one for skirts or frilly things. I'm happy to be in baggy jeans, with a plain top etc on. You might see me in a tank top but thats about it. I do own dresses but they are for rare occasions really.
Otherwise, I listen to rock/emo/metal and most of my mates are male. I've always been told I'm more of a tomboy, so I guess thats how I see myself.

There is a lot you have to take into consideration with this question. For example, what is it that makes a female act like a female and a male act like a male. Why do we act like this? Is it something that we naturally do or something that our culture sets on us that makes us act a certain way. They say that maybe if our society didn't put such pressures on us you would find men and women aren't all that different. And would act very much alike.

I saw a group of girls walk by some builders the other day, and the girls started cat-calling them! That to me perfectly demonstrated how the gender roles are already blurring and/or being reversed.

I think It'll be disturbing imagining something like the wife coming home and saying "honey-bunch,I 'm home",and the husband would be in the kitchen cooking launch,and the wife would go to sleep after launch saying that she doesn't have time for some alone time,but that could be true in places in the world.
