Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

I liked Fushigi Yuugi, Ayashi no Ceres and Imadoki..well those are the stuff that I've read from her. But I like how she creates the plots and I also like the way she draws.

Any opinions on these? Or any other manga from her that you recommend?

I've only read Fushigi Yuugi, and it's still one of my favorite titles. I heard it also had a lot of side-stories involving Genbu and Byakko no miko, but I wasn't that interested in that.

Ayashi No Ceres seems interesting too. When I get the chance, I'll buy all the manga books from it.

IIRC, Tokyopop is publishing another Watase manga, but I don't remember its name.

Yuu Watase is a very good manga-ka. She created the Fushigi Yugi series, Imadoki, Alice 19, and Ayashi no Ceres. I've only read Fushigi Yugi and Ayashi no Ceres. I heard that there was a new verion of Fushigi Yugi which is kind of similar to the original one, but has different colors. Yuu's art is very remakable and impressive.

Her art style is very nice and generally I really do like her works (though I've only really read two of them). So far, my favourite stands at Imadoki! since the anime for Fushigi Yuugi ruined the manga for me.

Dunno about any tokyopop releases since most of her stuff is released by Viz o_0

Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden is nice. Although it is incomplete since it doesn't show all the Genbu Shichiseishi being found. It kinda left me hanging. But it still is nice.

I haven't read Alice 19th. Is it nice? What about Zettai Kareshi? What are they about?

I saw Yuu Watase on a anicon a few years back...She gave out a sketch of Hotohori as a raffle prize. There were so many people in that anicon, it was almost impossible to win. -_-

Jeeh... if I had to pick one of Yuu Watase's works I would pick Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden (even if she's still working on it) out of FY S/S, Ceres, Absolute Boyfriend, & Imadoki! Although most of her love plots are the same - you know the whole love triangle, where the girl always ends up with the first guy she meets- the overall stories are of different genres and interesting. I'm very attracted to Genbu Kaiden because I would say Takiko and Uruki are the sexiest, sweetest, and most mature couple ever made by her yet. I think their story is the most unique and I'm kind of hoping that their ending will be more fulfilling than expected (refer to Suzaku/Seiryu story). Knowing how Yuu Watase's works are, I think she'll definitely make a happy ending for them,
SPOILER (click to view)
. Their relationship isn't so high school rated and the way they hook up is so CUTE! Anyway, I definitely recommend reading every single Genbu Kaiden out there NOW and keep on reading until the final one is out there!

BIG PLUS ON HER ART! SHE'S ONE OF THE GREATEST SHOJO MANGA-KA`S EVER!

How many Genbu Kaiden volumes are out, anyway? I have 3 so far... So that means, Watase's still working on it? It isn't over yet?

Nope.. it's not done yet coeli, there's a whole lot ahead. Then, most likely, she's going to go on to the Byakko storyline with Suzuno & Tatara. Now that's a cute couple too. I can't wait to hear their love story!! With Yuu Watase, she tells everything THOROUGHLY. She wouldn't entirely leave you hanging. Look at Fushigi Yuugi (the Suzaku/Seiryu story), did you know originally it was only up to Volume 13? Yet the ratings were so high and the fans wanted to know more about the deal with Tamahome, that she decided to extend the series up to Volume 18 (which comes out next month!!). Yet, it was still so popular that she, with the help of Megumi Nishizaki, created the 13 novels of the main characters, which has not been translated to English, but with crossed fingers I hope it will, since Viz is publishing novels now. FY OVA 3 is based on two of the novels: Eikoden Part 1 & 2. Same thing with Ceres, after the 14 volumes, there's 6 novels -- 3 of which feature
SPOILER (click to view)

Now that's what you call a dedicated manga-ka! Then Genbu Kaiden was written mostly due to the fans who wanted to know more about the preistesses of Genbu and Byakko, since they only had small parts in the FY S/S. She's awesome!
So far I think 6 volumes are out in Japan. We're just still on Volume 3, but Volume 4 will be released in July. ... So far! =( I can't help but look at the spoiler scans... Hey, but at least it's not like Fruits Basket, whose practically on Vol. 21 back in Japan and we're still waiting for Volume 13! But, at least it's being translated unlike Elfen Lied.. Looking to the bright side, at least the anime was translated! Anyway, back to the subject.
There's a magazine called Fushigi Yuugi Perfect World in which Yuu Watase releases chapters of Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden bit by bit. However, that magazine is published every 3 months in Japan. It must be really hectic for her though! Yet, we're there for her!

I can't wait for it then! Yeah, I like the way she completes the stories without leaving anything unanswered. Isn't Fushigi Yuugi already finished? I mean, I didn't read the whole manga but I watched the series, so isn't it complete already? I know that there are manga on other characters like Chichiri and Tasuki, but I haven't seen translated ones yet.

I read Ayashi no Ceres scans before, the one after the main story...Aya and Tooya's daughter is so cute! Is Watase creating another story for AnC? I want to read that too.

I also read that Watase is planning to write about Byakko too. But meh, I'm sure it's gonna take some time before those come out since she's not done with Genbu yet -_-;

What about her other works? I liked Imadoki...is there another story after that?

I don't think there's a side story for Imadoki! because it didn't gain as much popularity as Ceres and Fushigi Yuugi. And yep Fushigi Yuugi Suzaku and Seiryu are finished. Volume 18 comes out next month for us. I think that came out in Japan in 1997. Anyway Imadoki was one of her many short stories.

Well i love Ayashi no Ceres and i have read imadoki's first volume, it was kind of cute but i think i am far too old to like it now. Not particularly for the drawing style but because of the interesting story and the way it develops around love keeps me wonder what will come next in ayashi no ceres, so i bought like 12 volumes and i will keep buying instead of reading on the computer. That series worth it...

My favorite manga by her is Alice 19th. ^^ I relate to Alice, and I also share the same first name. =D That was what attracted me to the manga.

I do hope they make it into an anime...that would be wonderful. But I doubt it at this point.

I have also read Fushigi Yugi, Ayashi no Ceres, Imadoki, and Absolute Boyfriend. I love them all.
