Does their technology need to be the same as ours? No.

Its the style brought in GL. Its not odd, its called concepts. If anything, I'd say that the buildings are inspired by the Moai stone faces. Do you NEED buildings to be the same as ours? Explanation? Its right there when they introduced Rossiu. Rossiu's clan/group/town thinks that the Ganmen are gods, and thus worshiped them, with some stuff following suit. The time-skip buildings are similar, with one person at the center, Kamina. The legendary, tenacious demon leader of Dai-Gurren Dan.

Nothing new? Of course. Because its simply bringing back the impact of Super Robot shows, like the King of Braves GaoGaiGar (One particular usage of Gurren Lagann's drill is a tribute to GaoGaiGar, as well as courage powering up Spiral energy), Gunbuster (Chouginga Gurren Lagann's pose during its "awakening" was a tribute to Gunbuster), Neon Genesis Evangelion (The Lazengann is a tribute to this), and so on. Welcome to the year of Mechas.

Also, after rewatching over and over, I wouldn't say that its the best anime ever, 'cause Captain Harlock, Legend of Galactic Heroes, Ideon, Macross, and Mobile Suit Gundam are right there holding the spots together. GL is also one of those anime which is love it or hate it.

That's an interesting idea for Rossiu to think that of the face gods, but I think he would realize by the time that the civilization is built that, they are nothing more then fighting machines.

Bringing back old shows ideas, and fight simulations, re-drawing it, and adding a new face to the concept of old, is alright, but I would very much so like a new idea all together, and by that I mean not from this anime.
The only thing I have from this anime is why was it taken to such an unrealistic extreme.
I can understand science fiction, and fantasy books, and many novels. There is a limit to how much you can imagine for the viewers to keep up with, and keep it interesting.

But for taking the fight in a galaxy where anything is possible WAS TOO MUCH. In my opinion.

Taking fights to galactic-size is nothing. After all, it is possible that it was a warped time-space, like how Anti-Spirals are manipulating time and space. They never really mentioned the actual size.

Demonbane could take fights to the UNIVERSAL size. Yes, the universe. Hell, Getter Emperor is ever-growing and will surpass TTGL's size.

Wow, I can't wait for the movie to come out.
I seriously might have to fly to Japan to watch it on opening day. It's gonna be amazing!

A movie? That´s great news for all the Gurren Lagann fans around here.
I watched the series a little time ago and it was breathtaking. The story, the opening and ending, the music, the animation, the characters, all was perfect as gainax has made ever.
And the last part...was breathtaking, all to uber enormous galactic size...i want this series to appear in the next Super Robot wars game. Watching a SD Gurren Lagann could be awesome.
I have to say that I´m in love with any of the two openings (share the same song) and a song that appear in the last chapters named "Libera me "from hell"". Is sooo wonderful song that combines opera...and hip hop? that kind of remix that you could hate it or be in love it.

I know that it´s not gonna be a second season but...well, the movie for sure gonna be epic.

Gurren Lagann to be in SRW would probably take about 2-3 years for Banpresto to take them to avoid spoilers. Though a conflict would probably occur between Banpresto and Konami, since Konami licensed GL for the DS game.

And the biggest problem of GL in SRW is easily Chouginga Gurren Lagann and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Chouginga is the size of a moon, and TTGL's size is uncertain.

It could be a last-mission-only unit like how RahXephon was in SRW MX.

To compare, Arc Gurren Lagann is to Gunbuster, Chouginga is to Getter Emperor (Never appeared in SRW, if GL enters, I'm gonna hope for Getter Emperor.), and TTGL is to Demonbane.

I haven't started the time skip yet but I can't wait to. (watching other new series at the same time)

Yoko's obviously been learning how to wear normal clothes...although I like the other look better...Simon as the only guy who can kick ass in the anime is getting a little annoying for the good guys...So what if the otha dude went blooey, there could be another kid out there who can fight as well as Simon, or a Lagann as good as that freakin nazi drill...RAGHAGHA, this is a very good anime though...top 15 for me i thinks...

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann...... wow, is one of the best animes I watched! I really like the originality of the story, the design of the character and the battle betwen mechas.

I also love Yoko-san, she have something that makes me crazy!! Do you know that the opening is sing by Nagakawa Shouko, an idol knowing in Japan because her love for the anime and the cosplay?

Definitely the best show of 2007.
This is the show that got me into the whole hot-blooded mecha genre, though I'd seen G-Gundam before, it wasn't nearly as awesome. I think a series like this is the closest thing to real life daredevilry; It's an exhilirating experience, and it gets your adrenalin pumping no matter how many times you see it.

What really makes it stand out, though, is the characters. Their designs are quirky and exaggerated, but at the same time you can see the humanity in their personalities. No other show has made me felt like the characters were all real like GL, and that just deepens the immersion of the experience further.

The plot isn't spectacular, but of course that's because it takes a backseat to the series's message, which is one of hope for the future, self improvement, and taking life for all it's worth. Your drill is the drill that will pierce the heavens. You have the power to do incredible things, so make it happen.

To me only Kamina period was great, after that anime suck, really hated it :'(

I wouldn't go as far as saying it sucked after Kamina died but I definitely enjoyed it more when he was around. It was still a very fun and entertaining show. Just a tad bit over the top towards the end.

The first time I watched Gundam, in the first 2 minutes, I decided that mech was officially the worst genre of anime and that I would never watch one again. Along came Gurren Lagann and I had nothing to do and I decided to watch episode 1. If it wasn't for that fated day, I would not have found this EPIC EPIC EPIC anime which is currently me 3rd favourite behind Code Geass and Claymore. It's awesome that AP has a section for this! TTGR ftw forever!

You can always stream it....:) Like Crun...chy....ro...ll... I hate downloading nowadays. Streaming is so much better. Only a lil wait.
