What do you think of the ending?

I liked the ending. Unlike most animes this one actually had closure for most of the plots. The only small complaints I had were Boota had to go back to his old tiny self and that we didn't get to see more of Viral's fantasy life in the dream universe.
I think it would be cool to have a movie based on the squad they formed in the end that went into deep space. Might also get to see what Gimmy can do with the core drill.

I thought the ending was awesome! The whole robot battle at the end beat Gundam by a mile! I was sad how at the very end Nia had to die but she was kind of the reason for a lot of the chaos and everything so maybe she wanted to go.

I feel ambivalent about the ending. In line with the tradition of depressing endings from Gainax, Gurren Lagann ended the same way.
Spoilers!!! Do not read until you finish watching the show!!
Yoko seemed to have remained an old maid, still teaching on that tiny island. Her one and a half romantic interests (Kamina is one and Kittan is a half) died violently in battle with no closure for Yoko. Her youthful look is now replaced with a big masculine jawline...
Rossiu turned into his dad in looks, voice and way of thinking. Leeron... oh just sad...
Then somewhere in a Mediterranean inspired town near Kamina city, Simon appears in his ragged clothes and a tacky beggar stick. His voice is the only redeeming quality about him in the epilogue. His only family - his aniki and Nia - are long dead. He now walks a path of solitude... and teaching a random kid how to crack a coconut.
For 27 years, Kamina's sword is standing tall. Heroes must die young, huh? I wonder how dirty his cape is now.
I want the ending redone!

The ending was good but I kinda wanted Simon to end up with at least Yoko at the end. Since both of them have so much history together but instead he just drilled alone.
I would've like an ending a bit on the happier side but otherwise the ending to Gurren Lagann was pretty good.

Not satisfied! yoko is unlucky in issues about love, simon also. it's just it didn't go too well at the end.

Why didn't Simon stay with Yoko at the end those two went trough a lot together. I guess Nia is still in him memory. That's the only thing I don't like that Simon stayed by himself in the end same thing goes for Yoko.

The female lead died, what else could ever make me happier, lmao.

I like it but, i want more D:
I was actually pleased with the ending. There was much crying on my part (XD which was actually a GOOD thing, since all the other times I cried during this show, it was for something terrible that had happened). Despite my love for the canon pairing, I think it was fitting that Nia had to go, and so I wasn't totally broken up about it. I wept for Simon, but at least he could move on. I mean, once Nia turned out to be an Anti-Spiral, I knew it wasn't going to work out, and I think they resolved it in a way that wasn't a complete wreck. So I enjoyed it.
I cried to
!!
despite the fact of the nia's death and the loneliness of yoko ... all the episode is so... epic... i think after a war (even in anime) theres no much happines...
and is so epic!!

Somewhat disappointing. Didn't want Nia to die... especially like that D: It would've been better if Simon died with her or something. The part where Simon just walks off is not Simon-like either =/ Hated the older Simon, lacked... Simonicity.
An ending where Nia and Simon live on separately from the modern world would've been nice. Them with a family and that happy 'feel'. I don't really care what happened to the other characters, though I object to the part where Simon gave his key away T_T
Simon ageing, the key being given away destroyed the hope of there being a new season with Simon still actively in it. If Nia just died, everyone went on WITHOUT Simon leaving, there could've been a season where Simon and co. find out Nia is still alive and there's a huge anti-spiral (or even worse) organization or something.
I watched it all in one go because I was simply hooked to it. O.O The ending left me feeling empty and wanting to see more between Nia and Simon's relationship. Just really sad it ended the way it did. Almost like being heart broken (though I haven't felt being heart-broken... yet)
