What do you think of the ending?
It was a pretty good ending in my modest opinion. Gurren Lagann was originally going to have 52 episodes, but they cut just to 26, 27, because of this the anime got a fast development of the characters and of the storyline. That's why it could be better(if had more episodes), but it's satisfatory to this great anime.
As an ending it was pretty damn good. I mean the fight was great, but I found the ending with Simon and Nia to be just plain terrible.
I mean Simon fought so hard to find Nia (And..yeah..To Save Humanity) but he fought so hard only to lose her later? I know she was in pain but why end it off with her dying off? The series lost too many good characters, and to end with a loss was just kind of annoying.
I don't really mind that Simon -passed the torch- and began wandering the world and such, although I would have preferred something else.
At the time I first saw the ending I was quite pissed off, but after calming down I find it still to be a bit annoying, but still great none the less.

Nice ending...very touching...i love the sprit of them fighting....they never gave up!!
I thought the ending battle was very fitting to the series. As for the rest, I thought it was fulfilling and pretty much wrapped everything up. Though maybe not an incredible ending, it was solid and it left me satisfied.
That was one of the greatest ending I've seen!
The final fight against the anti spiral was an epic and the way the fight ends was unexpected, and that's what makes it that damn good! the epilogue was complete, well a little bit disappointing considering Nia but still fulfilling. Overall this series is one of the best anime offered for the year 2007!

Its pretty sad that Nia had to die, but in a way it was sort of needed in the story, I didn't like it all that much since Simon had lost a lot already and losing Nia for him has got to have been a big blow. It was disappointing how he amounts to nearly nothing in the epilogue, as shown by the little kid ignoring his traditional phrase of Who do you think I am? but still it shows that Simon's time was over and someone else had to take over. It had really deep meanings behind it, something you don't really expect of an anime that started out comedic.
The ending was of an epic scale indeed. Watching as the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann emerged from the galaxy gave me the chills. I enjoyed the end of the fight as they properly showcased each of the Gurren Laganns, each one moving Simon closer the the target before finally striking the Anti-Spiral down.
Nia's death was beautiful indeed, but Simon and Nia were happy in the end. As for Simon wandering off, he has already done his job. He was the drill who pierces the heavens, creating a hole for the rest of the Spirals to emerge from the despairing oppression.
The story was well told, the story escalated and the Gurren Lagann scaled up in size, much like how a spiral grows geometrically in size.

Epic Ending!
It was a great finish to the series, imo. There was the gargantuan fight taking between the Spirals and the Anti-Spirals, and they were throwing galaxies around like shuriken, it was hilarious to watch but it really showed the extent of the battle taking place.
It was sad that Nia had to leave him behind, but in the end he accepted Nia for who she was and she was also able to see that. I think there couldn't have been a more touching ending to the series.

I really didn't mind Simon becoming a wandering bum. I mean, he obviously doesn't prefer a lifestyle of leading a city as commander-in-chief. Sure he could've chosen a more modest decision then becoming a bum, but being someone who led the Gurren-dan, I don't think he'd care for frivolous details.
The death of Nia is something that could've been avoid plotwise, but in the context they put it, I can't think of anyway to disprove it.
Anyways, the epic scale of the finale fight is all I really need, since the Gurren-dan has always had a incredible fights to close chapters of their tale.

I liked the ending and I think a lot of what occured made a lot of sense. You knew that Simon couldn't handle a desk job and he would be much much happier out there with people and doing things. Nia dying also made sense and I can't really say that I expected it persay, but it was something that had to occur. Yea generally speaking I was happy with the ending up until the part that was after the ending sequence. It was somehow disheartening and left me quite unsatisfied! It's one of those things where it's I would have been happier not knowing what happened that far into the future of Gurren-verse
Nia didn't really 'die'. She just went poof! But in my opinion, I really liked the ending and made me shed some manly tears.

Totally agreed, Simoun lost alot of precious people and now he lost Nia too which is really was a totally shocked and touching to me. Yet
I admitted that the ending was really epic and memorable.
ORE O DAGEDA TOMOTE YA GARE!!
Epic anime. At first I though it would be one of those easy animes, no talk, no philosophy, just fight, fight, fight! But the last 7 episodes denied that. The ending was awesome too, I especially liked it that Viral and the Emperor joined them, Viral cause of the voice actor lol (same voice actor who does Madarame Ikakku in Bleach).
Also Yoko is my new love.

The ending was one of those kickass rocking endings that just makes the viewers and fans feel totally fulfilled, yet still wanting more. Nia had to "die/disappear" to close it out, but maybe she should have died in battle like how Kittan and Kamina both did. Having her just vanish when her and Simon were at the alter was a little depressing. They should have at least gotten together long enough to have a kid...although losing Nia after that would have probably been more depressing cause Simon would have to raise them by himself and all. You know, I kinda wish they they would make a 2nd series based on the younger pilots (Gimmy, Darry, etc) encountering a new enemy and having Yoko and the rest come back to lead and trying to recruit Simon to get back in the Guren Lagann. It would only work if they got the same staff to work on it and stuck to the same passion that made it such a great show. It'd be easy for a 2nd season to be a failure, but with the right story and staff...it would be just as easy to crank out a success seeing as how it is so well-loved.
Actually I did not like the ending, Nia died and Simon left everyone. It's kind of sad, since Simon was a good friend to everyone, and Nia just married Simon... It's just too sad the ending T_T
