What do you think of the ending?

Viral pulling off HIKARI NI NARE and Goldion Hammered Nia.

I didnt like the fact that Simon separated from the Team and just became a wanderer until old age... I mean it was hard losing his 2 second Wife but I wouldnt have given up on my future... at least that how I felt he did

It was a never seen end. I would rather than simon become the king of the city, but not to be an uknown old man. Viral's end is great, i am a fan of him.
I actually liked the ending, I think Gainax pretty much wrapped it up pretty well. I personally was never a huge fan of Nia, and pretty much expected her death. I know that some people aren't too happy with Simon kind of just... wandering off, but I never really could imagine him as the head of a government for his whole life; that always seemed too restricting to me. It just didn't suit him, in my opinion.
I liked the ending up until they did that time lapse and showed Simon when he was older. That was really weird. Overall though I thought it was a good ending. What bothered me was everything else that lead to the ending. Don't get me wrong, I thought the series was awesome but you have to admit how incredibly insane it was. Pitting the characters into a situation where there was absolutely no hope and then coming up with a totally bizarre solution. Maybe that was what kept it interesting.
The ending is awesome especially the battle with the anti-spiral! Nia HAD to die, they kill the anti-spiral, they kill Nia, but it pretty much sums up everything! I'd still give it a 5/5!

I was actually surprised that so many people died up until i realized that it was done by gainax. in anycase, i did like the ending despite the bittersweet feel to it.
I found that the ending didn't really wrap things up...they really left a lot of things open. There's definitely room for a second season, just 'cause of the two time leaps (the first 7-year one in the middle of the series and the time leap at the end). the fight scenes were awesome though XD kinda sucked that nia had to go and die D: but great series anyways!
I would have liked the ending if they had left out the epilogue. That was just strange.
That was a typical GAINAX-Ending though. Leaving so many questions open and stop without answering them. Actually at first I thought it might have a sequel... and I hate that idea, as much as I love Gurren-Lagann...
But that Epilogue was just strange.
Oh man, I hope they won't do that ;)

Ending is not bad , even Simon's squareface scares me. And also it's a shame that Nia left. It's not an extraodinary ending since Gainax's anime usually do not have good ending.

I think the ending is kind of sad because after everything Simon has done, he received nothing in return, and even Nia is gone, but I still like it though.
Come to think of Simon's departure, it also feels a bit like he's just given up just because Nia died. That's kind of odd considering how throughout the whole series, the whole motto was about doing your best and not giving up regardless of the odds.

I believe the ending was truly fitting for a character like Simon, who merely wanted to be a humble digger rather than a full-blown hero like Kamina. Nia's death made the ending not completely happy which I liked. The theme of sacrifice was an important one in Gurren Lagann.

I think that bittersweet endings is something truely unique in anime, just because you don't like the ending doesn't mean it outright sucks. I guess that just happens when people get spoiled by watching American films, all those happy endings are forced, I admit at the end that I didn't want Nia to die but I appreciate the idea that the anime is based in, the progression or growth of humanity and character. Simon didn't truly begin to support himself until Kamina died and his journey toward adulthood picked up when Nia died. The deaths of other characters struck home the idea that progress isn't something you gain without sacrifice or pain. He learned two of those lessons you have to learn to grow up, "you can't always have what you want" and the other is,"what you want and what you need to do will sometimes conflict an adult does what is required of them". I liked and disliked the ending and I personally think that a bittersweet ending leaves a more lasting impression than a saccharine-filled, tooth-hurting, candy coated ending that doesn't do the original concept justice. Just ask anyone who read Eureka7 vs those that only saw the anime.
