What do you think of the ending?

Typical 80's anime ending. I hadn't seen anime like this for ages and the ending is fitting for such anime. This has to be expected and you can see for the type of animation and abuse of mecha as well as the characters (go watch some old school anime and you will see it).
I thought Nia dying was a little unnecessary, but other than that, I felt fulfilled. P:
It wa okay. It kind of made me sad. But, I guess we'll have to wait for the sequel to come out.

It was little sad when nia died, and the end of simon like a vagabond, he could be anything he wanted, but he decided that. i'm proud of Viral, since he's first appearence in the serie i knew he was a very good character.
I think Nia should have stayed with Simon at the end and keeps on living because of the love she has for him, even though that may have made the anime more corny in a way I would have loved for that to happen.

I personally don't like bittersweet endings >.<
but i really saw nia's death coming so it was too shocking but i still got really depressed afterwards x.x

Just watched it all in 1 go, Seriously why did they kill everybody off, it brings me to tears to see what Gainax have done :_( And WTF, every man that Yoko gets dies, well I mean Kittan is like "yeah w/e I love you but I'm gonna go die now, maybe I'll brb" and she's all like "well thats ok with me, cheers". Other than that I think the fanservice was a little toooo low but it was an enjoyable anime.
I watched this anime some time ago, but in the end of Gurren Lagann I had this really sad felling in the pit of my heart, but on the other had I felt good that it ended the way it did! Sure I complained but why not?
Nia dying was in the end I think necessary for Simon to move on and become the vegabond he did! The ending was over the top but all in all great!
Hard to explain what I am thinking in words here on forum! I do not express myself that well!

I think more fan service would have actually make the show lose quality. I believe there was enough with Yoko... although I do agree that in the second part of the show, we didnt get to see as much

It was very well done! If Nia didn't die, i would have been soo happy but still, it was a fitting ending.
Was I the only one who predicted Nia was going to die when she was introduced shortly after Kamina died?
Personally, I thought the ending was quite weak. Too typical really for me. It needed something "manly", it needed something Kamina would be proud of!

Was alittle disappointed with the ending...i thought it was quite sad for simon..to lose his loved ones...
Somewhat disappointing. Didn't want Nia to die... especially like that D: It would've been better if Simon died with her or something. The part where Simon just walks off is not Simon-like either =/ Hated the older Simon, lacked... Simonicity.
An ending where Nia and Simon live on separately from the modern world would've been nice. Them with a family and that happy 'feel'. I don't really care what happened to the other characters, though I object to the part where Simon gave his key away T_T
Simon ageing, the key being given away destroyed the hope of there being a new season with Simon still actively in it. If Nia just died, everyone went on WITHOUT Simon leaving, there could've been a season where Simon and co. find out Nia is still alive and there's a huge anti-spiral (or even worse) organization or something.
I watched it all in one go because I was simply hooked to it. O.O The ending left me feeling empty and wanting to see more between Nia and Simon's relationship. Just really sad it ended the way it did. Almost like being heart broken (though I haven't felt being heart-broken... yet)

i want more !
The ending was disappointing for me. Poor Simon became a vagabond... I expect more for that anime. What a drag...The ending is so sad.
