I've been watching the English Dub of Gurren Lagann on Sci-fi. I, personally, watch some things in Japanese, and others in English. I don't swear by solely dubs or solely subs. I think the English dub seems to be pretty good, I even recognize the main guy from the dub of Girls Bravo. What does everyone thing about it?

I've heard a lot of dubs before, and I can't say that I like this one. The only voices I could say that I liked had to be Leeron's and Nia's. However, Simon, as the rest of Yuri's other roles, sounded the same (I swear, I've only seen a clip of one of the episodes, and the only line by him was "NIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" which sounded just like Haseo's "ATOLiiiiiiii" scream that he always does, which sounds the same as EVERY OTHER ROLE). I can't say that I disliked Simon, but I didn't like him that much either. Same for Yoko. Didn't like it, didn't dislike it. Voices I disliked that I heard were Kamina's and Kittan's. They really messed up the Double K. I don't really remember Dayakka's enough to judge it, but I remember disliking it. Viral's I loathed. I had only heard Sam Regal in one other game, and that was also .hack//G.U. (Well I've heard Yuri in more, but that's the only thing that I saw through to the end, or well, played, thus I can mainly judge his voice based off that role.) Aidene's wasn't too good either. Yeah, it sounded kind of close, but I loved her original voice (I'm just weird like that.)

If there's one voice that I definitely don't want to hear, its Attenborough's. I don't know how they replicated it for the dub, and I must say, I'm scared.

I've been watching the English dub on the sci-fi channel as well and I don't have any problems with it. Simons is probably the only one I have a bit of a problem with, but it's not bad.

See, I didn't care for Nia's voice. It was so high-pitched and oblivious sounding that I half expected her to cock her head and go "Chii?".

I guess its just an /a/ thing to like Nia's dub voice... Everyone I see that posts there loves it.

I didn't even know there was an english dub but now that i know its airing on Sci-Fi i'll be sure to watch it. Can anyone tell me what time it airs?

Certainly. It might depend on where you are, but here on the East Coast they've been running two episodes a night during Ani-Monday from 11pm till Midnight.

I'm usually a subs person, but the dubs on this I can tolerate (that and FMP which i love the english voice actors for =D)

I've seen a few episodes of the english dub and I just can't get used to it. It's not that it seems bad at all, but Gurren Lagann is my favorite show and hearing anything but the voices I heard the first 3 times I watched through it in Japanese is just wierd. It also probably doesn't help that I got attached to the translation of my fansubber's version of the show so the new official translation doesn't seem right at all. In the end I'd probably say that Gurren Lagann like most shows now is getting a better treatment when it comes to dubs (because anime is getting bigger I guess), but it's just not something that I'd be able to sit all the way through : /

I saw only clips, and I do not like Kamina's voice. The rest of the voices that I heard were ok. I did like Leeron's voice though.

I must admit that I was frightened by the idea of the dub at first. Like seriously. And while I'm behind on watching it, I'm not appalled by it. Granted, there are things that aren't perfect, but I still think that it captures the spirit of the Japanese version well enough.

I also don't really like the dub, especially when you get into the complicated/simple speeches Kamina and Simon make. It makes even less sense in English somehow, where at least they sounded cool in their subs.

I was actually not into GL enough to watch it and read subtitles, too lazy~! When it came out on telly I watched it! I guess I'm not a hardcore fan, because I like the dub. And I hardly ever like dubs, being the Japanese-loving sunova Asian mail order bride that I am! Viral's voice is nice...

Englich voies are the worst with this anime my ears are exploding!!

I haven't had a chance to hear the English dub, I'm usually quite supportive of dubs though since I watch a fair bit of anime at night when I go to sleep and it's annoying trying to read from my bed lol (also speed reading sucks, I like to be able to watch the action instead of read and then catch the end of whatever happened on screen). I really liked TTGL so I hope they did at least a decent job, I'll hold off my judgement for a bit, but I'm still optimistic.
