When I first saw the series, I was shocked! OMG what a GREAT series! but then I read somewhere they where making a Gurren Lagann movie, and I was a little bit scared of what the outcome would be (I mean: the series closes up great, if they add a new end to the story... could be marvelous... or a complete disaster!)
So, I heard recently they were to release not one but two movies, the fist of them called "guren-hen"... has anyone seen it already? what do you think of it? should I watch it or would I be disappointed by Gainax yet again?

I'm assuming you're talking about the same movies I've heard of, in which case the first one is pretty much just a re-cap of the first half of the series, with some new scenes/animation. I haven't seen it myself, but I've heard the new parts make it worth sitting through the old stuff again.
Can't say anything about the second movie, though. I haven't heard much about it.

“gurren hen" and “lagann hen" were very good works. It is a good improvement though there were some changes in the story.
I wonder what the animation looks like even though it was done by the same studio as the anime. I was surprised they could compress its story into 26 episodes can't imagine what it's like in a couple of movies. look forward to seeing them, TTGL was an amazing anime.

Well, you´ve somehow encouraged me to watch the first movie, and, to my surprise, it´s great! I spècially liked the first minutes, where they make a summary of the spiral war really briefly. I also liked the battle against all the generals (Viral rules!), instead of battling one at a time! I´m looking forward to the second movie!

I heard the movies are remakes from the series. Were there any changes done from the original series plot-wise?
Honestly I'm a bit hesitant watching the movies because I'm afraid there would be changes to the story (which is very good as is, by the way)... I kinda like how the plot unfolds in the series...

I've heard the movies are long OVAs made from scenes cut from the original anime with parts missing to create a different feel for the same events. I haven't watched them myself but after hearing this I must agree to being a bit hesitant.

Wow, so they are good^^ have to try them
I think the movies are completely stupid and unnecessary to the story as a whole. The first movie was said to go more in depth about Yoko but it was almost all rehashed material from the original show with a new fight seen and more new Nia scenes then Yoko ones.
The second move is even worst in the fact that it's all about Nia Nia Nia and her relationship with Simon. Seriously, I had enough of her and her Mary Sue act in the original show but then Gainax had to go and make a movie all about their awfully contrived, and generic lovey dovey fluff romance.
