He was one of my favourite characters in the manga. He wasn't a good guy but he wasn't evil either, it's just he had his own code and followed it.
He was a big help in some of the battles Kenshin had to fight; and was a good influence on Sanosuke.

He think he is one the kick-asseste characters I have ever seen, anime or otherwise. His fight with Kenshin in the Kamiya dosho is one of the best of the entire series and his attack on Sanosuke is awe-some! His motto is also very effective, kind of like "wipe out all evil immediately" and he stands for what he believes, no matter what the price. He is a little bastarda, but gets the job done. I slute you, sir.

He was a killer, man. Very barely below Shishio he would have been the strongest rival for Kenshin. But I guess since Kenshin isn't a Battosai anymore there is no need for Saito to fight Kanshin ever again. He mentioned that at the very end of the Manga-version.
Gatotsu is an interesting Fighting Style. What I like about Saito is the fact that he has such an evil sarcastic humor towards certain people,.... like Sanosuke. Saito's Motto: "Aku Soku Zan" Evil must be punished at once....

Saito is very sarcastically-nasty to Sanosuke... I guess Sanosuke wouldn't have had a chance against him, even with Futae no Kiwami which he learned from Anji... Saito would still beat him up... and I guess he knows that and therefore might have declined another re-match with Sanosuke.
Yeah, I also think so. but it would be an intresting fight....it is poor that Watusuki didn't make any moore books about Rurouni Kenshin...

I love the scene where he says that he has a wife. It's probably my favourite scene in the entire series (not sure if it occured in the manga, but I watched the anime). I started Rurouni Kenshin through reading it though.
I'm sort of neutral on Saito Hajime. I like him, yet I don't go by his ideals, and I don't really understand them. Nevertheless, he is a cool character and I respect him.
