This series is officially driving me out of my mind. Never before have I been lost so deep in thought, forming theories of things seen and heard and read. I. Love. This. Show. As for a theory on the first "arc", or first four episodes:

Anybody else think that Keiichi imagined the whole "My friends are trying to kill me." deal? I have a small theory that Keiichi and family initially moved to the town for a mental illness, similar to how Rena had moved out, was diagnosed with a mental illness, prescribed medicine, and after moved back to the town. Keiichi then, due to disregarding his medicine, paranoia about learning of a death, head trauma after falling in the garbage dump, Oishii making him even MORE paranoid by telling him his friends may or may not be involved, even Rena and Mion seemingly following him, which I believe was to make sure he wouldn't hurt himself, so they follow him to keep an eye on him. I also believe that the men in green coats who keep going after him are mental doctors, whom he hallucinates to be people after his life. At this point, Keiichi begins hallucinating and interpreting things wrongly as things he had experienced in the past. Such as the needle. He said it made him bleed, but we clearly see no blood. It wasn't really there. This sparked a massive chain reaction. Another point in episode 4, when Rena restrains him and Mion attempts to inject him with something. This scene is very similar to the scene in an earlier episode where they restrain him in order to write on his face with a marker. So, they aren't really trying to inject him, rather they are just trying to write on his face again, as a "penalty" for not answering the ohagi riddle, which was "Which one did Rena make?" Of course, Keiichi, in a fit of paranoia and adrenaline, sees this as a needle, and flashbacks to when the photographer dies, and was explained to that it may have been the cause of drug abuse, which caused him to claw out his throat. After beating Rena and Mion to death, he sees 3 - 5 adults pull up to his house in a white van. Now, if you recall, he talked to his mother on the phone, and she said her and his father were on business in Tokyo and would be back the next day. Well, this IS the next day, and the people pulling up aren't "murderers" after Keiichi, but are rather his parents and/or the doctors trying to restrain him. So, he flees to the telephone booth and calls Oishi. Now, again, if you recall, Keiichi flashed back to when the photographer died, by clawing at his throat due to what was believed to be an unknown drug. Keiichi thought that Rena and Mion had injected him with the SAME drug, so, because he BELIEVES that the same drug is in him, he begins to claw at his throat, just like the photographer did!

So you see? I believe Keiichi is a mental patient, and due to extreme paranoia, disregard of his medicine (which, now that I think about it, may have been the shot the doctor had given him when he visited the clinic), and fear of his friends due to Oishi's warnings. He hallucinated everything, killed two innocent girls, and killed himself, thinking he was drugged. This is just a theory behind Keiichi's actions, as I have no clue about Oyashiro-sama and the curse and the one death and one disappearence each year. I'll have to think a lot more on that when I see upcoming episodes.

Phew, that was quite a load. You see how this show brings out a creative spark? Man, I can't wait for more.

That was the way the photographer died. Oishi clearly states that he clawed out his own throat. They thought it was due to drugs, but they weren't any detected.

I've come to the conclusion that a situation similar to Keichi's happened to Satoshi: due to some trigger, Satoshi went insane, as Keichi did. If you'll recall, Rena and Mion start saying that Keichi is beginning to act a lot like Satoshi, and they begin following him. Possibly to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't hurt himself, or become "transferred out" as Satoshi was. Remember when Rena confronted Keichi and told him to talk about his problems, and that she hadn't gotten to talk to Satoshi in time? Maybe Satoshi had the same mental illness Keichi has?

That really only covers Keichi and his friends. There's still a large gap as to why all the other people are dying on the night of Watanagashi. I'm hoping to be able to fill these holes in later episodes.

Yo has anyone seen the las episode arc of chapter 2 man that is crazy but it doesn't seem to fit.

if you remeber back in chapter 1 at the begining it showed Keiichi killing Mion and Rena and and at first you had no idea what was going on until the end, when he kills them. but the end of the chapter 2 didn't follow the same way. because at the begining of that chapter you see Rika stabing herself in the head but at the end you see a dead-zombie like Mion kill Keiichi. so I don't get that. but hey atleast Rena was on his side.

the next chapter looks good and the main focuse seems to be on Rika and it well talk more about her brother Satoshi.

Episode 8 roxors... i love that freaked out expression.

Decided to watch Wind's version after Triad is taking so long to release ep04. Watched ep04 - ep08 in one go.

Damn...this is totally gruesome.

When they explained the intestines part it was totally bizarre. And the illustration was like...intense. And 5-inch nails. XP

I was like clenching and unclenching my jaws throughout the episodes. But I loved Rena in the second arc. Her detective-like theory totally rocks here.

But still...bad ending (i.e. unfortunate outcome). I wonder if a good ending will appear.

good ends will be really limited, since there practically aren't any. Some aren't as gruesome as others, but if you plan to stick around to solve this mystery, you may have to get used to it.

Doing lots of thinking, I believe I've figured out just what is going on in the first two arc, I'm pretty certain this is correct but I haven't played the game.


Every year the festival is a disguise for a ritual to keep the demon of the village under control and it needs two deaths to do it.

When the blue haired girl messes up performing the ritual, the ritual fails partially and the demon's power leaks into the inhabitants.

The demon has the ability to control anyone with demon blood (most of the people in the village).

In the first arc Kei1 starts finding out about the strange goings on and reports it to the police. Kei1 is injected with blood from a villager so he can be influenced by the demon to kill the two main suspects (who get controlled by the demon at certain parts) the police are interested in and then kill himself.

In the second arc. Mion, in a fit of despair that the guy she loves doesn't see her as a girl, invokes the demon.

The village eldar and the blue haired girl both notice this so she kills them so they won't be able to seal her again. Making the girl kill herself in that nasty way shown at the start and possibly making other villagers kill the elder. The other loli was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The demon gets some of Mions jealousy and tortures her sister continously.

Mion then uses either her control over the other villagers to make them believe she's dead so they won't hunt her our completely takes over another villager and uses a glamour to appear like mion.

Had to watch 5-8 two times in a row, and it still boggles me. I'm really hoping for a logical explanation, but the way things are going now, it seems something supernatural may be a cause.

Oishi said at the end of 8 that "The dead are walking around way too much in this case." and explained how they had found Mion dead in the well before K1 was stabbed by her. And how the lady who was "burned" (I forget her name.. Takano?) was dead before they had gone into the storehouse. With that, I can't find a logical explanation at all. So far, it looks like the people of the town may have "demons within them."

By the preview, it looks like Satoka and Satoshi will have a larger role in the next chapter.

The twist and turns of the story line is very interesting I've been watching it and I cant wait for episode 9 : ) it has all the elements of a good mystery/horro/comedy.

I'm disappointed this show doesn't have a bigger following!

So far this third chapter is my least favorite. Keichi just loses his charm and becomes inhuman through his over-the-edge actions. I thoroughly enjoyed the second chapter, throwing in some super natural elements increases the creepiness factor.

The corpses coming back from the dead adds to the mix, and the villagers' demon heritage implies that any one of them could lose control and become possessed.

But the real hook of the second chapter has to be the fact that Keichi actually sticks up for his tomodachi! In the first chapter he was all like ZOMG YOU GUYS ARE TRYING TO KILL ME *FREAK OUT*, instead of trying to understand or help his friends. Granted he's only been friends with them for a month, but it seems to me he's gotten closer to them in 1 month than I would with anyone in 5 years. So when K1 sticks up for Mion, that made my day!

I wonder how these question chapters can be interpreted and how the answer arc could possibly wrap them up. Will the answer chapters mix and match information, or will it completely debunk some scenarios because we can't really trust the perspectives of each character?

I think the biggest question in this series is whether the events are caused by something supernatural or if its all some sort of conspiracy by normal human beings. I'm inclined to think that its the latter as something supernatural would take all the fun out of the mystery of the series by explaining it all as the doings of Oyashiro-sama or something.
