I thinks that's is the better anime of horror and pshycical terror.

The best saga is of Shion, that little and little she transform to devil.

I'm currently watching it and I have to say I'M IN LOVE WITH IT Rena is WIN X3

I'm watching the series currently and am on episode 19, but I'm really having a hard time understanding it. Some of the chapter things go together, but some are a totally different story. It is scary with the animations of their faces and the blood and their evil laughs, but I guess I can handle it for now. I don't know if I'm going to be able to watch the second series. I'm desperate to watch something new, but I just don't know if I can handle watching this when I don't understand how the things works. Watching different events happen on the same festival really confuses me.

There's a number of sites that can explain stuff to you if you look for them. Personally I think this series is extremely well written, and I like the way Kai ties them all together to make them into a continuing storyline instead of only individual stories.

Rika is basically Oyashiro. She's trying to get out of dying each time by resetting the time back and trying again, and each of the chapters or arcs are actually new resets. The invisible person Rika is talking to in Kai is Hanyu. She appeared in the Higurashi Daybreak game, and according to the story she can only be seen by Rika, which is why it only shows Rika talking to a shadow.

And about the first series, there are numerous explanations for each of the events, but simply put, each of the chains just shows another person going insane because of them seeing things that aren't happening (according to the original game and manga). For example, in the first arc, Keiichi thinks he sees Rena and Shion going insane, but in fact he's imagining it. He even imagines the needle in the desert, which is why he can't find it later. Oishii's information to Keichii only feeds his paranoia, to the point when Rena and Shion capture him and play the 'punishment game' they pull out a sharpie like before to draw on his face but he's lost his touch with reality so much he thinks he sees a syringe. It's similar for the other arcs as well. Oh, and the syringe Rika carries in Shion's arc, is actually a drug to try to help cure Shion of her insanity, but since shes too weak she gets beaten by Shion. Having the drug injected into her doesn't have any effect, but having lived through Shion going insane before in an earlier reset, she decides to kill herself instead of being tortured painfully to death.

I have to say though, here in the US Geneon's dub is pretty impressive. It even appears they went out of there way to find voice actors that actually sound close to the original voices! Shion in fact sounds so close between the versions, I swear it sounds like they got the Japanese Voice Actor to speak English!!

I was having a hard time understanding the plot of the story. All I could see was blood all over. It's like there are more different stories in it.

There's much more to the story than just who Hanyuu is. Those who actually have played through most of the chapters of the games would know what I'm talking about. Higurashi is a massive story of manipulation, illusion, experimentation, revenge, and all around mystery.

Maybe I'm looking into your post too much, but you can't just summarize Higurashi in one spoiler box. And besides, that spoiler might not even be true:

K1 was infected with the pathogen from Rika (the main carrier)OR was injected by Takano with the pathogen which caused him to hallucinate about etc., etc. And Rika didn't kill herself as convincing as the anime portrayed. She was tortured to death by Shion.

Originally I think this is just a beautiful young girl animation, having a so terrible condition unexpectedly. There are a few conditions to run blood very much, pulling out a nail particularly to frighten me.

Afterwards I had to played game, but too many Japanese and no CG. So I have to give up. I also saw the manga ,and it is also a very good work.

However why there are maids with mini skirt in that time generation's willing ,that made me have been feeling very strange.
In addition, I am worthy of to recommend of work absolutely.

I have not finishing watching this anime untill end.

but when she is angry, that makes me have gosebumps.

This anime if very scary. Try watching this at night!

I have, and I still really didn't like this series. I don't like series that require me to do research projects just to figure out what's going on. I mean, I like a show that makes me think, but this is not one of those series, IMO. It doesn't ask me to think for depth, just for breadth. Also, I didn't care for the way the story restarts itself every 4 or so episodes.

To people who did actually like it: more power to ya. Hope you enjoy the dub that coming out.

I just watch Higurashi no Naku Koro ni kai first epi and it really creep me out this time. but i feel sorry that Rena that she lost all her friends

This anime changed my perception of cute anime girls. I have watched all the episodes and I must say, I was shit scared /(oOo)\
The opening theme was so creepy I had to skip it each time. Overall its a good show and as a plus it gives your brain a workout trying to piece all the episodes together.

The style of presentation for this series is one of the best. The characters are above par, but not amazing. Story itself, thanks to the presentation, is really good. I also like the different perspective at times for the sub characters, which gives of many variation of vibes. Definitely would have been the top title of the season a few years back if haruhi fever didn't take over that year.

I still see it...i love all most characters in there...they are so cute...:)
