Don't you use Microsoft?
I use Mac OSX Leopard on my own computer, my MacBook. I use it 99.9% of the time unless I'm using the PC for some reason. There's an iMac in this house, the other family computer, that runs Tiger.
I've used Windows and Mac for years, but now I only buy Macs. It's just a lot more stable, less prone to crash and burn (and take six years of files -_-) so I like the lack of headache. I do backup everything, so with what I was able to salvage from my PC I put on here and never had any problems.
I like the features, ease of use, speed, and reliability. I'm not bashing Windows, I use it and I still do. However if I have a chance, I'll use and continue to use Mac OSX for the reasons listed above, and so much more.

Wow that's terrible T_T" Windows is pure evil. At my school we have Mac OS X, Windows XP and Vista. The Vista lab is just full of problems all the time, so I just avoid that lab altogether. The funny part is that the Vista lab is for programmers. >_>"
Only windows for me because I am a gamer. I have used Linux due to some programming related work, but personally I use Windows
I use Fedora (red hat linux) with dual boot XP pro. I've used windows for most of my life until i got sick of it crashing on me and constantly getting viruses (sort of my fault too :P ) I use XP for photo editing because even though open source has GIMP, it's not as good as photoshop. Also, i've found printing photos is a lot harder on linux than it is on windows.
I'ved also had vista for a while, but i sorta killed it when i was fooling around with my computer cause i tried to dual boot xp and vista but i totally screwed it up. Vista in general is slower than xp and i'd say useless unless you're a hardcore gamer and MUST have the direct X 10.
If you're looking for a new linux distribution to use, i'd say fedora over ubuntu because i've used ubuntu and it's pretty much the same (both use the Gnome? or was it something else) but the surface is exactly the same. The terminal commands however are entirely different. And i think fedora looks cooler :D Fedora also has a more sophisticated installation process and when installing things in the terminal it's a lot cleaner.
EDIT: just ps, if you don't already know this, adobe refuses to make an x64 flash player for linux, but there are open source alternatives being developed (gplflash and gnash). It gets annoying at times cause they don't always work. A lot of people just install a 32 bit OS onto a 64 bit computer for linux to avoid things like that.

Yeah, i used to tinker around with various linux distributions but i've gotten lazy and i pretty much stick to windows 2000 (yes, the ancient one) still.
when i build a new computer, i'm gonna have to figure out what o.s. i want to move to because i refuse to use windows vista with all of its problems and invasiveness.

I used Window XP Pro and Media Center.. hate window vista cos so many problems
Windows... always windows
to me mac is a totally lock down just user friendly and wont let me do stuff. In windows, i know Vista is annoying, but then once you disabled all those annoying pop ups and it works like a charm and haven't crash at all pretty stable.
But then this only last awhile if your thirst for speed and efficiency, you then can start pushing the system to max and of course there will be crash.
for me i dont mind it crashing coz i want it faster
so really depends on your personality... if you just want a simple user friendly OS then go for mac if not WINDOWS XD

What kind of stuff were you trying to do? Are you just talking about modifying the look of the OS?
You said to go for Windows, though I noticed in your profile you list Linux as an OS that you use. As Linux isn't locked down at all why would you go for Windows instead?

If you're talking about overclocking then yes if you push it too far you have to expect crashes. Though as this is a hardware problem the OS is not really relevant. Running stock and without hardware issues I expect any of the OS's I run to cope with sustained loads. Whether that be Windows, OS X, Linux or something else.
Speed and efficiency wise wouldn't a lightweight Linux distribution be better than Windows as there should be less overhead, maybe a minimal installation of Gentoo.

First: SIDUX (Debian SID + KDE) amd64
Second: Ubuntu (8.04 , customized) amd64
Fallback: Debian Lenny - amd64
Athena: Kubuntu 8.04 (Hungarian) amd64
Thor: Kubuntu 8.04 -amd64
ThorSEC: Fedora Core WEREWOLF amd64
Server: Debian Etch 32
8.04 is pretty bugged ATM. The X just fails sometimes..
Solaris is not too advanced, have a look on BSDs too. By the way I wouldn't prefer any of them for desktop use. They are only good for "hey look I have BSD on my PC" sentences. But they are rockz on a server. BSD have the most-advanced threading+smp system.
I have XP only on VM.. ..(shame on me :)) By the way I hope VMware or Parallel will release a DX support for VM machines, and then I will delete WIN forEVER... I hate them all.. :P Bugs ..on bugs.. (*caugh* features ..) :))) (I don't want to start flamewar.. I just wrote down my personal opinion)
Mac user friendliness: Like GNOME? Write CD! But what speed? What mode? .. Just write it.. ehhh... I prefer KDE cause it let the user have choose.

Funamusi .. can you write it down in english? Or anybody? :D The rikai-chan plugin doesn't seems to work in FF3beta5. Please.. :P (if this is in other language..not just characters^^)
I'm not complaining about windows
as long as you know what you are doing, and do things properly.
i cannot see what would be wrong in using windows.
used windows ever since i got my first computer though (windows 3.1)

Hi Axilya, Me too works with some windows 3.11, 95, 98, 2000, XP, and tried with vista but... Don't works with my PC.
It's true that if we do the things properly, Windows don't crashes, but with another OS like openSuse or Ubuntu (I had downloaded yesterday
) some basic problems don't exist (With Suse the last crash was about 1 1/2 month) and I think that Linux systems are day with day more interesting...

Atlacatl .. if you want to have VERY stable os, then download Debian STABLE. It gives a relase every 2-3 years, and I NEVER met any crash on the system. BUT you have to deal with the default old kernel, old applications. Old.. uhm.. half year old..maybe. But you can use a new kernel from (backports (google!)) and you can update the applications by yourself. If the stability is what you need.. (Btw the new Ubuntu crashes always..don't install it...^^)

I used to run Fedora/Red Hat and Windows XP. Now I'm only using Vista since it shipped with my laptop... and it would have costed more to get XP professional. -.-
But so far I don't really have any complaints about Vista; it runs quite smoothly, looks nice, and I haven't had any problems concerning compatibility issues... so I don't really see any reason to use anything else at the moment.

The only problem about Vista is the caching. Its caches up to 8gb memory, what is "GOOD" for laptops, work places, but who wants to play few game..thats just simply s.ck.. I used it only for 2months, then it killed my hdd. Lately I installed it again.. I thought: whoo SP1.. maybe it can run my favorite japan games + I can watch anime.. but NOT?! cause the SP1 don't installs my sound driver. AWESOME WORK!! :D Full of bugs.. (cough..FEATURES?! :D)
