Clearing up some Confusion
Obviously my last announcement confused a lot of people. I've come to realize my use of the word "simple" was a bad choice on my part, so I apologize for that. Hopefully this time, everything will be crystal clear.
First of all, none of this is a change of the guide. It's a reminder. We've noticed lately that there have been a few wallpapers that have been scan-to-walls. Meaning that it was just a cleaned up scan with text. there have also been a lot of walls that are scans that are just smudged or painted over. These are considered to be low effort, and according to the guide, they are not allowed. While repainting a scan takes a great deal of work in some cases, there is no creative change to the image, so we consider that to be low effort. Because it's not really yours since it's still the same as the original artists.
Now, focusing on what I called a "simple" wallpaper. By simple, I meant low effort. Nothing you see in the gallery falls under that category, but there were more walls coming in that were not being approved, by people just to get papers. These kinds of walls looked something like this. I was afraid to use the term low-effort in the previous announcement because I was afraid that would be taken the wrong way, but I guess either way I would be in trouble.
The scan-to-walls and painted walls were being aimed at the community members, while the low effort wallpapers were a reminder to people that want papers, that that is not the way to get them, and if that’s really all you can accomplish in photoshop at this point, then you should be posting your wallpapers in session zero, where members with a better understanding of the programs can help you.
We're not trying to limit the creativity of artists or submissions; we're trying to remind people of what the guide already says. If this is still confusing (which I really hope it's not) please let me know. We're not trying to be a group of mean staff members; we're just trying to direct you in the places you should be going if that’s the level you're at, and reminding community members that they were given that status because it showed us we could trust their submissions. Anything in the galleries now is fine and there’s no need to delete it, but in the future, please do not upload wallpapers that are simply reCGed scans and text. Adding texture also does not make it worthy of the gallery.
Hopefully this should clear up any confusion that may have surfaced.
And again, i apologize for the confusion in the first place.

I agree with everything said...
and Kalico, don't worry, cause in any moment you were agressive or mean with anybody... ;)
i guess that everyone reading that should be mature enough to don't misunderstand, and if the wallpaper of someone fits in the description Kalico just gave, think about that on how improving your skills in photoshop/gimp, not that you were "nothing good"...
i hope that everybody understand the message that you tried to say...
bye

Thanks for clearing that up. Your last announcement did indeed raise some alarm over in session zero, some of which was probably unwarranted. At least now we have a better idea of what you meant about simple/low effort.
Curious: just how many walls like that get submitted and rejected, say, in a day?
Although I guess the people who keep submitting stuff like that probably aren't the ones who will take notice of the announcements or use session zero. Even worse, some complain about being rejected. =X
You poor, poor, mods, having to deal with all this stuff. Thanks for all your hard work!

Well said and appreciated, keep up the good work!
That is much more clear but I don't think it will solve the problem, because a lot of the people who do submit simple walls like that are new to AP and are new PS, so a lot of them won't even notice this thread. But hopefuly they will
Well if they read the rules they will know. This has made things alot more clearer! hey a quick question, how do you consider a "ripped" WP? because im designing a wallpaper with a simlar idea to one i seen which i started on a few days ago (yes, im going into the unknown here!) and i was wondering if i submitted it, would it be concidered me ripping?
The one i was talking about
So, if it is a picture of a desk (this will be all hand-drawn) with pictures and such, would that be a copy of the above wallpaper?

Its ok to go after the same idea, just state where you got the idea from, or who you got the idea from. Ripping off a wall is posting someone elses wall and claiming it as your own, or using parts of it in your wall.
Well i don't do that kinda thing since its against my beliefs. I got the idea before i saw it and it is quite different, well will be. i won't tell any more since someone may just take it xD
for the record, this wallpaper im making is the hardest yet XD

Lol GL Evinta, hope your new wall will be as good or better then the hmm...other one, let's say ;)
And about the announcement Kalico made, yes,I think you are right .Really wonder how people admit to themselves to make such ...horrible images as the one you gave as an example, and then pretend they are ...walls! O.o Lol,they should revise their oppinion about wallpapers, and not treat walling as a joke,or something like that.
Thank the whole AP staff for the hard work, can't imagine what you people are going through, getting all those "walls" and having to actually loose the time to reject them&explain WHY you did...But you're doing a great job :)

Well as Kalico's idea is nice and all. But some wallpapers that were made in like 2 hours with simple filter effects are still geting more atention then people who spent a few days only because they used a grate looking scan with all the effects and stuff already on it. WHat about that Kalico??

In your dreams?
Did you even look at the current top rated wallpapers or are you throwing this assumpition out of nowhere?
Kalico... if that’s really all you can accomplish in photoshop at this point, then you should be posting your wallpapers in session zero ...
On a side note (OT and not really that important):
You know, Photoshop is not the only program to make good wallpapers. I don't know if my wallpapers can be considered "good" wallpapers (well, they got accepted), but I'm using Inkscape and/or GIMP (both open source). I just noticed that most of the members here say Photoshop instead of image editing program (or something like that).

unfortunatly in cases like that, we really have no control.
since we personally check each wall, if we think one looks decent enough to pass through, then it will. granted walls that have the cloud filter and some lense flares just won't make it through.
but popularity due to a character we have no control over.
we can't just start rejecting decent walls because they have characters from bleach or something :/
