Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

I think that it doesnt matter if the manga has been created in Japan or America, its manga just the same. Ex: Applying this to if only Japanese manga could be called manga, does that mean that a pizza cant be called a pizza unless its cooked in an oven in Italy?? (yeah i so got that from a manga, bonus points if you can guess where its from :D) Manga is manga no matter where it was created.

Personally, when I say manga I mean any comic that uses the unique paneling style and storytelling found within Eastern comics, not just Japan. When I say comics, I think Spiderman, Sin City, and the style of visual storytelling that is uniquely...well...American. Whether or not the comic is actually made in America, or the manga in Japan, really makes no difference to me. It's just a way to organize my bookshelf easier.

Wikipedia
Manga (漫画?) is the Japanese word for comics and print cartoons. Outside of Japan, it usually refers specifically to Japanese comics.

This is saying, basically, that manga ARE comics, and comics ARE manga, its just languaje differences.

I think that manga should belong to Japan becuase that is part of Japan's culture as well as their techique to read from left to right, any other manga outside of Japanese ones should be considered comics

Manga belongs to japan. other country have their own name for their comic. ^^ for example manhwa from korea, manhua from taiwan, and maqita from indonesia. ^^

and.. in my opinion, manga are comics but not all of the comics are manga. ^^

Uhm... interesting topic!^^ but first i want to say my english is too bad.....so please don't laugh and sympathize.....
i think ""manga"" were creat in Japan long time ago. when it was appeared, japanese called it is ""manga"". so manga ... just still be cartoon in japan, by japanese creat it..... in american, europe the call it is ""cartoon"" not a ""manga"". obviously, i think no one can call all products outside japan is ""manga"". it merely is a copy of ""manga"" in japan. i think so!!

(I'm sorry if this gets out of topic, but I think they are the samething.)

I think anything that has Japanese style should be called a manga, but lately this argument has being on for sometime. Manga should be called manga if it has an japanese style that is widly used in manga. American comics have a certain style and manga has thier own. I think if it is made by an japanese person and is outside of Japan it should be called a manga, but if it doesn't have the manga stlye that we all know and is not created in the stlye of manga than it should be called a comic.

This is almost the same argument with cartoons and anime. If they don't have the traditional japanese style that makes it a manga or anime. Anything that doesn't belong to that theme that is called comics or cartoons.

Well, i just think you could call them lowmangas or something like that! or you should just call it comic! in fact the japanese ´´invented`` the manga and the japanese ones are really the best! it is okay that others try to copy it, because it´s good for the manga-fans, but in fact the best mangas are really from Japan! i read many others, but the Japanese ones are the best^^!!

Manga= graphic novels from Japan
Comics= graphic novels from the USA
Manwha- graphic novels from Korea
Manhua (spl?)= graphic novels from China

I prefer to keep the names of graphic novels catagorized by their own country because, like it or not, no matter how much Americans copy off of manga, or vice versa, each country has its own style and cultural insertions into its graphic novel that makes it different from a different country's.
So overall I call them graphic novels, but you'd never see me call an American comic 'manga', even if it is done in the 'manga style'.

Technically when you call it manga it means a comic book from japan right so eventually when you make a comic book outside japan i think it's not called as Manga but just plain comic book
