Introduction:
Hi everybody! There where a few reasons for us to create this contest. The most important is to popularize a bit more the less know series also less known doujinshi artists, living in the shadow of overrated mainstream series. The other reason give a bit of spotlight also for capable vector artists, cause not everyone of them are creating also wallpapers, despite their high skills. And yes, as you noticed the contest is not related to any group and will be held direct on AnimePaper, of course with permission the AP Staff.

Who can apply:
No restrictions, just be sure that your work is your own and has high quality.

Rules:
*The scans used as sources must be from AnimePaper.
*The submitted entries must be just a character vector, no full wallpapers are allowed.
*The submitted entries must fulfill the requirements for vectors in AP's FAQ.
*The submitted entries must come from a gallery where are 5 or less wallpapers.
*Only one entry per person.
*One character only. Full or close-up, depends on you.
*No limitation in style, you also can use colored lines, gradients or light effects.
*No extra background decorations. Keep a solid one-color overlay arround it.

Prizes & voting:
After closing the contest a voting topic will be created. Everybody can vote, who is a member here at least for one month. Prizes will be banners with the achieved placing, and also everybody else will got one for just mere participating. (first 3 places also should receive free scans of their choice)

Important:
No need to write here who will or not will join, just submit your entries in this topic and we will take that as participating. Link a full resolution JPG version of your work from some free hosting site, so that everybody can zoom on it. (we recommend Imageshack, Picasaweb or if you have a Deviantart account) You are free to make a new entry or updating the existing, until the contest is ongoing. Would be good if you could write a description and guess I don't need to remind you guys to sign your own works.

According to the Animepaper submission guidelines you aren't allowed to upload doujinshi artist scans, vectors or wallpapers. I've had several of my submissions removed for this reason.

You are right but it also says that Animepaper accepts well known Artists. Anyway, if you vector a scan that has been accepted on Animepaper, I don't see why your vector is rejected (except if it's a crappy vector). I guess the definition of a "well known artist" is quite subjective but if before submitting a vector, ask a staff member. This way, you will not be rejected (again, except if it's a crappy vector).

One small (and probably stupid) question: do we have to have a solid color background? 'Cause when I submit vectors to AP I submit them as PNG's, without a background :3

It's just for the voting phase. By giving the vector with a solid background in a big size, people can view it without you giving it away credit free. You can submit it to ap in PNG afterward if you want ^^

I'm not sure if I can join this contest. I have a lot of school work to do. I barely have time to sit down in front of the computer and work on PhotoShop.

But I seriously like the idea of promoting less known series.

Yes, it's ok ^^ One of the goal of this contest is to put less known series and artists under the spotlight.

You can vector a monochrome scan. There is no limitation in the style used ^^

Yes we are mean X) Normal Members can enter the contest if they submitted vectors on AP before. Why making this kind rule ? Apart from being mean, we want some level quality (do you want to get eyes cancer ? )

Wow only community members, of those who vector, restricted to an obscure category. I hope this serves a lesson to you guys to practice tolerance towards 'lesser' member when you don't receive many submissions. You guys submitted vectors as regular members to AP at one point too.
