Ai Yori Aoshi

Anyone a big fan of this anime series? I must admit that it took me a long time to jump in on this series and I waited long after the series had been released through Pioneer Animation and Geneon Animation. When I finally broke down and purchased the first few DVD's it was with Volume 2 and Volume 3 of the Ai Yori Aoshi ~ Enishi series. I think the whopping $25 dollar tag for each volume was a huge deterent but I was able to get them from Best Buy for like $18 per each volume when they were running this anime discount sale through their brick and mortar stores.
At any rate, over the next few days, after buying them, I watched them and was greatly addicted to this series. It took me about a month but I then again managed to obtain the rest of the 8 voilume, 36 episode series. I'm always watching this anime series when I have nothing else to do because the sweetness of this anime really keeps dfrawing me back. It's a very touching anime series that I highly recommend to anyone who's a core anime fan. I just hope that they do a new anime series and finish up the anime series the way they did with the recent ending to the manga series.

This series is highly recommended to those who love cheesy anime flicks, romantics and those who are all lovey-dovey...
... actually, it made me cry, or i'm just a crybaby that is :(
... the story is great, and aoi-chan is just plain cute and sweet
... i do hope those kind of girls exist... ( naaaah, enough of the anime fantasies :headbash: )
... im a big fan, and it's like telenovela you never get tired of!

It made me cry at times as well, but the anime is really cutesy and it's hard not to like Aoi-chan anyway.

Overall, Ai Yori Aoshi ain't too bad of a series despite its cheesiness. Nice, story, slick art, great opening and ending songs and interesting characters. There's this nagging feeling of lack of realism though due to the "total perfectness" in the relationship and the way the two main characters interacted with each other.
That aside, what annoys me though was the "Kaoru-sama" part. Aoi basically repeated that word up to the point where I'd like to tape her mouth just to shut her up.
AYA ~Enishi~ was a bit of a dissappointment though. When it was released on fansub, the general impression was to resolve the issue of Kaoru being accepted into the Sakuraba family but that wasn't the case. Instead, it focused on another character (name withheld due to spoiler concerns) towards the end of the series.

I have to say that the tension that existed in the first series was left out of the anime for the Enishi. It was still rather enjoyable and still annoyingly addictive but still rather enjoyable.
I have seen like 8 episodes. Not bad (Aoi
), nice art and all but I didn't think that AYA is something special until I started to read manga. I have read 6 volumes and I'm an addict. It works (imo) much better than anime. I think the biggest reason is that when reading manga you can concentrate to pictures and fast-read parts you don't like too much. :P (I have some issues about harem series: in that "genre" there is good stuff but I have seen too many series that are too much alike)
I have heard some comments about how anime is better than manga. Heresy, I say. Heresy! ;)

I felt the same way about the anime until I finally broke down and bought my first two volumes from Best Buy. After watching those two volumes of the anime I was hooked. I ended up spending another $125 at one shot buying up the rest of the DVD's through the Overstock.com website at a discounted price. All 36 episodes, of course.
It is a very good love story....I will buy it when i have extra money...

I hear you, in the end it cost me around $200 to purchase the entire DVD series from the Ai Yori Aoshi anime series. It's one series I don't think I'll part with. Some of my DVD's are some titles that I would part with but I consider this series one of my favourites.
I love the story of this i only have the manga but i am going to order it when i have the tim. the thing is that they stoped the dvd's it looks like but the magas are still coming out. i have to but it when i can.
I thought it was a good one. Even my roomate that ussually dosn't like this genre liked this show. They did what ussualy they do at endings in the first 5 episodes. Then it was all cool from then on! 9/10, good show.
This is like my favorite siries i read it all the time
Hm...Ai Yori Aoshi....It's my favourite Anime. The anime is little wird and the story too but i think that this is the best. But i can't belive that in real life such a love exist. Dont you agree? I dont think that i would wait for 18 years and i dont even know that my boy/girl friend has a boy/girl friend or has married or something. And when i dont even know that he/she whent away because me or not i dont have the hope. But Aoi has IT! ^^ She searched for Koaru and found him. In a little wird way and whit luck but she has. But.... they are a few question's left. Why did Tina go away at the first pleace? And why did she come back? Or...i dont think that Koaru has been mood all his life until he meet Aoi. And Tina was and is his friend. I dont think that they had a terrible time together. And Koaru...how did he meet Mayu? Did'nt he run away after his mother died? Or the party was befor that?
Well...I dont understand everything. I should whatch it 3 more time's then maybe i understand everything. And i read the manga's too. In the manga's is the same thing like in the anime's. The sentence's are unchanging too.
AI YORI AOSHI RULES! And TINA is the BEST! ^^
Please help me by the question's. Thanks!

Well fairly enough the overall story is nice :) though it's a bit too much too cheesy... as for the women in the story, Tina Foster wa iroppoi yo!! but i also like taeko-chan :)
tina's story on the ova was quite sad, sadder than the series. i as so touched when she left: when they went into her room and saw all the pictures she had taken. that sure was sad :(
i bought a DVD copy of both the series and the OVA... also looking for the songs and other OSTs... XD
yeah, now that you've mentioned it. why the hell did the producers do that? hmm...

My friend recommended me this anime. she said that it was really good. well, i took her advice and saw it for myself. i like it. it's a sweet and nice romantic story that gets you all warm and bubbly inside. Kaoru and Aoi made such a lovely and cute couple. It made me kind of wish i could get a guy who loves me as much! hehe.
