This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Generally i'm against watching anime on tv, i pefer watching it on the computer of course, but as you know america loves to keep buying & buying the anime we love so dear........... but honestly i was thinking and all of a sudden a certain topic comes to mind......... if japan stop selling anime to the US, and the US decided that they were gonna start putting out it's own brand of anime, do you think it would be better than japan anime, and do you think it would do good in sales? or just how do you think it would turn out in general if america did try something like that?

i know it might be far fectched, but i think it's something worth talking about =/

It would be nice if we started pumpong out a small amount of anime, though im talking english and not be racist by excluding only the us in this, but anyways it would be nice to see a few less japanese cliches, but i would still want to see japanese anime, even if they did stop there's always fan subbers you can't stop them, its like internet piracy, or porn.
i would think it would be better, it would just be it i mean japanese animes aren't all on the same level of "greatness", its all a matter of personal opinion.
Good in sales im not to sure we im pretty sure we dont have as big an audience for this as they do, and besides i dont pay for my anime.

You know,.... Anime,..... is something that is already created IN JAPAN by the Japanese Animators. I as a Westerner or at least as a person living in Western Culture wouldn't concentrate on copying anybody's Style in the end, IF I were a talented Animator in apprenticeship.

Japanimation EXISTS already... If an artist comes up with an own style it would be better and more profitable for him IMO...

Anime was created in Japan. As the poster above me so nicely put.
Western animators making anime wouldnt look good in my opinion. Its just not their thing, each country has its diverse sub group of styles and each artists has his own kind of twist on a specific style of a sub group. If he were to make his own style, tha would be cooler. American anime can be good, but in no way can it be better then Japanese because as far as I know, the only real american anime made from scratch in the actual US is Teen Titans ( I dont watch much TV so there could be more ) and that cant even touch some of the other anime in Japan with a low fan base.

I dont think Western Anime will be very successful because everything that is on the Anime channels and such are all original Japanese anime with horrible English dubs. If an original American anime came out, it would be overtaken by the superior Japanese animation studio.

I don't think the United States should create anime. It's just not their style. I enjoy watching their shows that aren't anime like Spongebob mainly because of the humor and puns. To me, what makes a good show is the content and animation, not necessarily the style of artwork. The US should just stick to its own style and work on the story and the animation instead of trying to make the artwork nicer. Japanese anime may have nicer artwork but the animation itself, is very lacking. For example, when a character is talking the camera zooms in on his/her face and if you look to the background, the people in the background aren't even colored or even moving. Then if you watch cartoon shows in the United States, the artwork may be far simpler but the animation is greater. If it's animation, what matters is the animation, not necessarily the style of art. Don't know if I'm making much sense here, but that's what I think.

Anime is made from Japan ONLY. America cartoons with anime-like style is not considered anime, like Teen Titans. And culture WILL effect the way anime does in the U.S. Some shows with western themes/cultures will generally do better in America than in Japan.

I think that, by the point, animation is so Japanese-saturated that there is the potiential for excellent American Anime; Boondocks is an excellent example of this.

My answer to this is no. America can replicate the style of Japanese animation but it will not be the same as real anime from Japan.

America, Anime? Nah. Teen Titans is not an Anime. It is Wannabe, but it ain't the real deal. And lets not overlook the not so Cliche Japanese Animes that carry Western themes as well, such as Zombie Powder (could have been a good thing), Full Metal Alchemist and Mobile Suit Gundam. They don't particularly focus on Japan, rather they exist in a more modern and western feel.

Also, Things like Fire Emblem and Final fantasy stray very far away from the Japanese culture, dragging things from nearly every country and culture. So the Japanese can handle themselves. The Americans shoulde stick with what they do best. Crude Comedy.

That's a pretty good one to think of but i highly doubt it, it's not about economic capability or availability of technology, simple placing this in clear perspective, part of the success of japanese animes is the involvement of japanese cultures and their traditions which makes their anime highly attractive and entertaining..

In fact,... as some of you already said,...there are just a few Action Anime, in which every Action scene is animated or choreographed well. Street Figter, the animated movie is such an example in which the Action sequences look very well animated and choreographed..,...in too many Action Animes the Action scenes are drawn rather in sparely Still sequences,... you usually see the Characters doing just one Slash,... and then it's freezed for a few seconds... which make the action look freezed and stiff.
which I don't like... or sometimes when you see a kick or punch,... you just see the Character readying himself for a move and then you just see a short fist or a short kick in short cut scene,...
