do you think america can make better anime than japan?
No.. That's it!
Anime from Japan had some aspect that make it special! From Chara Design until the storyline, that in my opinion can't be copied.. That's in my opinion, coz I love their culture!

Im It completely agree with you
I also think japan is the best. from the storyline to the op\ed themes, they surpass america with flying colours! to be honest, it is strange when you watch animes from america. don't you feel that they're missing something and finally, it kills your interest to watch it anymore. unlike japan, when you're watching the anime from the very start of its op song , you started to giggle and scream in excitement.this is what i think. what about you guys?

Well... i am not too sure if I can agree with you about the giggling and screaming :D
However, i can definitely agree abou the fact that there does appear to be something missing with regards to American Anime. I am not sure exactly what it is, anyone have any ideas?
I don't think America can match what Japan has perfected with many years of experience. There is just something about Japanese anime that sets it apart. But then again this is just my bias, and if America wants to prove me wrong, I say go ahead. XD
1. Anime is not a genre. It is a name of the medium.
2. If you want to talk about characteristics or style … There would be no point for Western production to imitate Japanese animation’s style, because, even though Japanese Animation has become popular in the Western society, the majority market here is still familiar with its own. Disney. However, I have seen it (mimicking Japanese style) is happening in North America. A couple of new DC series.
3. As many guys have already mentioned, ‘Anime’ is all about Japanese culture, I believe. Well, Manga is, for sure. Some Mangas, you need to know decent amount of Japanese culture, if you want to fully enjoy them. Anime is nothing but Manga on celluloid, so it would be better to understand its backdrop. Not to mention the nuisance of its language.
4. If you want to talk about how advanced their technology of the production … well, I’d say US and Japan are just about the same. But it seems Japanese productions try ’more things,’ since it is more concerned .

I don´t like to watch anime on tv!!, if United States begins to create it´s own anime, it won´t be anime, because anime is Japanese only!
Western anime won´t be the same as Oriental ones, the characters, the plots, actual anime is uncomparable!!!

when they put anime on sations like YTV in english. it sucks OUTLOUD! so i don't think they could make good anime.
Mm i dont think so...
Maybe a combination between Disney and another japanese animation studio could make a good anime or sth...
Maybe...

Well honestly i think no. NO! Yes true that MANGA in fact had their origins in Comic Novels of the west. But really what is Anime to us all? Its the Japanese qualities of thinking and manners that defines anime from cartoons. i mean take western " cartoons" like Spawn and Spiderman. What differences do they have with or beloved anime? well, i feel they do not have the traditional cultures within them. take a certain parrell series like Ghost In a Shell. It is modern but it holds the japanese culture within and not taking that culture like some sort of "Arty Farty" kind of gimmick. In The Matrix(which has mixes of western and japanese stylising) the Oracle's Body Guard is a stereotyped chinese man in chinese clothes with chinese Gung Fu. it felt somewhat uncalled for. Chinese guards aren't all like in Hong Kong Movies...Speaking Funnily accented english.
western style stories are very much different. i find western shows very one tracked. yes, in both generes, the good guy always wins. but, western "cartoons" are very much have a feeling of being seperate from emotion. Almost all japanese anime have emotion in them, (i'm taking the mature anime) no matter how comical or bloody it is, there are always the japanese qualities within. Feelings of responsibility, deep friendship, love. devotion, prosmucuity, pride, manners, social service... Anime mostly make a good balance of it all. Take Elfen Lied, its bloody, lots of topless scenes... but ultimately what is it in the story? about guilt, friendship, family and devotion. not many western "cartoons" have this quality. look at "the nightmare before christmas", "Sin City", Superman. They probably just skim these qualities on the surface. and not as deep as anime has. they try to stir feelings but always fall far far short. unlike how shows like "mai-Hime" and "Fullmetal Alchemist" have given.
Recently, There have been more mainstream "cartoons: which try to take on the name of Anime. Yup, teen titans for on. Even Totally Spies! or Samurai Jack. but they fail in terms of the story presented. The episodes are so segmented of sorts. You might say "Samurai Champloo" is just as such. but that series is connected with the three characters' emotions for each other. How their feelings for each other grows in each and every episode. though Disney's " Aang" (about a boy with special powers trying to stop a war) might come close.

You got to be kidding :D

chocokudosNo, American voice dubbing has no feeling.
same thought here too
i admit there are some anime with decent dubbing but overall its not very good
about making an anime
i dont think that America CAN a great quality anime perhaps they lack unique inspiration
some american anime always fall into cliches and the animation are all ripoff of Japan
for example make the girls eye bigger just to get the 'moe' factor
