Movie based Games
Alright im one to buy some movie based games such as Constatine, ghost rider, tc. And its always a 50 50 chance of the game being horrible or alright. Here's my question though do you think its bad to make games from movies?
As long as the game is well done, fun and highly playable, I don't mind if it's based on a movie or not.
The Lord of the Rings games from EA (Two Towers and Return of the King) are a clear proof of that. They don't only look and sound great, but they're totally fun... of course, if you like beat'em ups. They're not very complex games, gameplay wise, but man, they are ultra fun to play... specially Return of the King, with the 2 players mode.
Another example of a good game based on a movie is Riddick for XBox. Even though I haven't had the chance to have it for myself, I've played it, and it's a pretty impressive game, with smooth graphics and a really good gameplay. Hard to believe Vin Diesel was the producer of it, lol.

Yeah, most of the games made from movies are incredibly dorky. Good examples are the comic book games. Like ummm, Spider-Man wasn't that great. Neither was Fantastic Four or ummm...something else. XD I haven't played Ghost Rider, but...yeah.
Enter The Matrix wasn't great either. It was okay at first for the gameplay, but after you beat it, it is incredibly boring...
LOTR, ultra boring unless you like to hack-n-slash. Which, I like, so I liked Return of the King and Two Towers. I didn't like Fellowship of the Ring though. I fell asleep everytime I played that game.
One game that was really horrible though, Happy Feet. If you even consider it, just go hang yourself right now.

Jajaja Hang yourself...Yeah..don't even think about playing that game...
LOTR is a very good game if you like hack-n-slash games special the cooperative way... Spider man games are good...Well I think the ones specially from the movie because the other spider man games weren't that good...
I wouldn't waste money in Hulk game though... Enter the matrix was great just because of the idea of fighting and shooting at the same time...But it don't got replay value so...It became boring.

I don't usually even bother playing game adaptations of movies. I think the only one I have played was Enter the Matrix, and that one was ok at best.

Basically what Kyosuke said. If its a good game and well done and fun then yes it is. But if its unoriginal and a pure rip off of other games like Ghost Rider or Aeon Flux then no

Fellowship of the Ring was based on the book, not the movie, so it doesn't count as a movie-game.
Last movie-game I played was Aliens, and I downloaded that for MAME. It's a lot like other Konami arcade games at the time, but is still an excellent game.
As long as the gameplay is great, then I wouldn't mind at all. So far the only MVB game that I know of which is awesome would have to be Lord of the Rings: ROTK and also The Two Towers. That's it. =/
Good or bad, movie based games "happen" in a similar way s*t does.
IF a movie gets along with the box office, then it is fatal this kind of merchndise will pop.The producers want to profit as much as possible.
Now,i am quite certain that 9//10 of those games are dorky, like ChaosNataku said.
The only memorable ones were those based on LOTR as most of the guys/gals mentioned.
I'll just add Battle for Middle Earth and The Third age to them.
Note:Speaking of merchndise, did you know that My little Pony animation was produced solely t promote the pony plastic figures?

I think it's bad to make games out of movies and even worse to make games into movies >_>
Hhhmm..In my opinion..I don't like movie will making a game..I think it's horrible..but I do agree if they will make a game based on anime because they do have a nice graphics unlike the movie, it's really hard to cope up the graphics if it is based on a real human being I just don't like it..
Examples of games based on movies that MUST not be done:
-Jurassic Park for SNES. Seriously, this is, by far, one of the perfect examples of "average game based on the hype of a movie". Game's graphics were OK, and the first person scenes (when you infiltrate a bulding or a facility), but controls didn't even respond accurately during the top view parts, exploration was frustrating, the hidden eggs side-quest is boring and unnecessary... and the worst thing of all is: the ending is a total and complete piece of trash :/
-Batman Forever for SNES and Genesis. Seriously, the idea was good in theory (a platform game with fights similar to Mortal Kombat, with even a similar control and way to do the moves, plus the motion captured sprites, CGI backgrounds and etc) but it failed totally in the practice. I won't deny I kinda liked it for the first hour, but after that, the game stopped making sense, specially when you see Riddler's form as a final boss, hahaha.

Movie games are under a curse becuase they usualy suck or are bland. there are a few of good movie based games out there.
1 the chronicles of riddick. They did this game perfectly. The fact that they managed to do stealth well in a fps is great. The only flaw is that it is way to short.
2 the lord of the rings. I like the hack and slash ones a lot but the ones that really nailed is battle for middle earth.
I know there are a couple of others but I can't think right now.

I'll be honest and say that I haven't played many movie to games, for the obvious reasons that most of them are terrible. But I have played/brought them if I was obsessive over a movie such as LOTR and Enter the Matrix. Enter the Matrix was an awesome game even by itself, I think they did a good job with that by making it so that it add's more to the story. LOTR, to be honest I only brought because I was obsessed with the movies, I don't really like the game so much now, but I did enjoy it when I first brought it, a good action game especially ROTK with the two player. I wish more games had multiplayer like that ( Obscure did this aswell - why can't more games do that?)
Not all movie games are bad. Return of the King and the Path of Neo are really fun. You get to use guns, weapons and martial arts in the Path of Neo, and every single type of weapon has a different set of moves. You can see that the developers put a lot of work into it. Then again, the Path of Neo has many scenes and locations that aren't in the movie. >_>

my kitty is more evil xD
