Movie based Games

I would say that the closest to any decent movie games were the two final fantasy movies in which I hated both. Although Spirits Within had the better story line, AC was way better in execution.
I'd have to say that it would most likely be Final Fantasy. The games are generally heralded as something beyond anything the people have ever heard of. Because of the fact that the movie is building on the story rather than trying to execute something of similar effects, they generally are a lot better than other movies based on games. However, something that definitely has a following are shows based on games. Shows like Shuffle and the Tales of series are not that good but at least they try to keep the stuff intact unlike the Americans who mutilated the crap.
Well..me I don't buy a movie based games but I do buy an anime based game..I think movie game based is just suck..that's all I can say...
A good movie-based game is very hard to find.
Riddick is the only good one I've ever played, and that game is exquisite.
Knights of the Old Republic may not count, but it Star Wars based. And fantastic.
Games --> Movies has been a lot worse off, thanks mostly to Uwe Boll. He's turned the idea into a joke.

One big problem with a lot movie based games, specifically ones directly based from a movie, is that they have to stretch out a 2-3 hour experience to around 10 or more hours, you know? it seems like the only real good ones are the ones that are based from the movie but still have an original storyline, like riddick.. or kotor.. or... um... damn, i guess that's about it huh?

It's not bad to make game based on a movie but they should make it more fun or challenging. Most movie games are either boring or stupid to me, that's why I never buy them.
Its not a bad thing if the dev team has a good plan and is in constant contact with the writers / producers of the movie to coordinate.
but you know, no game company wants to intentionally put out a bad game, a lot of the time its because they dont have the time. the game has to come out when the movie comes out, not the other way around, so its a rush job and things dont get done that the producers might want.
look at superman for example... game kicked ass for about 2 hours... then it went down hill real fast just so it can release side by side with the movie

Does anyone know Dragon the Bruce Lee story for Super Nintendo? The movie with Jason Scott Lee who was portraying Bruce Lee, was really incredible, and the game was also really neat, but quite challenging to play.
This game not only featured the Characters for the movie, but also additional ones like the two Amazon women which were really, really tough to beat. I mean they had weapons, and when you were between those women,... you were doomed. There were some characters which weren't in the movie. During your fights you could increase your chi when you handle the opponent well, but you would lose chi as well, when you do a bad fight...
Technically that game was one of the hardest Super Nintendo Fighting Games that I ever played, but I was able to beat it in Arcade Ace mode. The final boss, the Phantom was a real bitch to beat. My god, with two blows he would beat you in no time. When you failed once in the Final level,... there is absolutely no chance to level up your chi to get Nunchaku, the only weapon that could defeat that ApE

King Kong was okay. Playing as Kong is amazing. Adventuring as Jack is fun at times, but not so much at others.
It's not quite a good movie-->game, but you have to at least play as Kong once and fight the V-Rexes.

Lord of the rings is a example that the videogames and the movies are a good convination, the first game (the two towers) and battle of mittle hearth are exelents games based on movies.
desafortunality i don´t know about other good examples
is sad

I really don't care if they make games from movies but i find that most of the time they just aren't that good.So I gave up on playing games that are made from movies. every now and then a friend might play a game and show that its actually good but other than that I ignore them in stores.

You need a decent developer. Although not really a movie game, the only good marvel game before Alliance was the Marvel vs Capcom games done by that awesome company Capcom.
kyosukeAs long as the game is well done, fun and highly playable, I don't mind if it's based on a movie or not.
Same here. x3
Spiderman on Game,... now that I think back of it... it was a really crappy Gameboy Game with a crappy Character design and limited techniques. There were bosses like Mysterio, Goblin, Scorpion, Rhino, Dr. Octopus und Venom.
I played one of the Batman Games on Gameboy as well, but that was a long time ago. It was pretty much fun...
