I just got mine off yesterday, so I was wondering, who here has or has had braces? What was your expirence with them? I know some people get them off and get them back on, sometimes because they didn't follow all those rules so they messed them up. So, what about you?

I've never had braces, and I hope I never have to have them. They look so uncomfortable and I hear that they are a real pain to clean.

For 4 YEARS!

I've had them off for 2.5 years now and am loving every single second of it. No problems with the teeth moving back or anything, either. After you've had them for a while they don't really hurt at all; you develop a tough inner lip.

I've never had them and I probably will never get them. Although when I was about 10 my dentist said I could use them on my lower jaw, but he probably said that in some vain atempt to milk money from my parents ¬_¬

And yah, I don't think I would like it when the tighten them, I hear it's quite painful

From what i know people don't like em...but i've never had braces and thing it's a pretty good thing since then afterwards you get basically perfect teeth... and they dont make a person any uglier or prettier...

I had them for around a year...I should still be wearing my retainer, even though i got em' off around 2 or 3 years ago now but mm...I kinda lost it ^^;

Have braces? never did, never will, unless some obstruct idea forges in my head.

I might hold the world's record for this, so let's see... i had braces from 4th grade to the summer of 11th grade, so... (counts fingers) ... 8 years?? x_x

well i didn't have the actual braces on for 8 straight years, i went from braces to a retainer to braces and then to a retainer again... because i was so young i had to wait for certain teeth to grow before they would implement braces again. and when they did grow i would have them yanked out by a dentist prematurely to make room in my jaw. yeah... my teeth were a real wreck before, but they're fine now. i give props to my orthodontist... even though i would've strangled him any given day when i was younger. <!--emo&:o--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ohmy.gif' /><!--endemo-->!

the pain is excruciating! ¬_¬ well... it's not that bad, actually, but it definitely isn't very enjoyable. the metal scrapes/rips your tongue and lips and if you have those crazy tight rubberbands they could snap at any time and it feels like a slingshot went off in your mouth... and every time they tighten the wires you can't eat anything for days because of the pain...

oh, but i'm all over it now though, but it still feels good to get out those years of frustration sometimes... next time you see someone with braces, give them a hug <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Sorry to one-up you misu, but I had mine <b>nine</b> years.

However, I get the occasional comment on how perfect my teeth are, and it seems all good.

I had braces for about 3 years though I've been rid of them for about 5 years now.
I started out with a retainer, but then I developed something called church bite and had to have braces.

I didn't mind the braces that much except when they had to be tightened, though I was really glad to get rid of them.

Ah I remember the crazy elastic bands, they used to go everywhere, particularly annoying when one snaps when your eating something or if you swallow one.
