This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Ok, Kal did superb job at vectoring this scan for me.. it was a real mess and it must've been a hassle for her. i know it was! but yeah.. i need some ideas at what to do, because i'm really lost and i've been brainstorming ideas for days.

What was the original background? I'd probably just do a new, swankier version of that, tbh.

Otherwise I'd go for either a vertigo instilling scenic background - Ie she's just falling out of a building/off a cliff/out of a mobile suit. Or I'd do a space background (uhhhh) where she's either been/being sucked out of an airlock or a hole in the side of a ship, or something equally dramatic.

Maybe trying to make it look like it happens in a technologically advanced scenary, with a glass separating them, while you can see the outer space through a window somewhere. =P Something like that.

Can't give an exact look but i would suggest..
buildings and mechs at the BG
and wind movement! debris!
i'm throwing in some stuff that might get your design juices flowing in XD...

If your still running into problems,
Or you could also do one of those falling of the cliff scenes, since that happened in the series when they first met.

It wasn't a hassle! shinn was just being a pain in my ass!

as for a backround...the more you can avoid a space backgruond, the better. because...even thought it's gundam and it takes place in space...i think we've all seen enough space walls. the techy-scenary idea sounds good, but i also like jays idea of the cliff. but...SHHHHH! i havn't GOTTEN to that part yet! -tapes JaY's mouth shut-
anyways, good luck with the wallpaper :3

Hmmm falling from a building might suit that scan :\ or.. from a cliff.. but lol the perspective would be tricky...
abstract background might do well, but that depends how 'twisted' it is going to be... otherwise it would be quite plain.
Oh, and space scenery wouldn't suit it (they aren't using any astronaut suit).. so.. yeah.. ;)

Ok here's a new link with my progress on the wall.

http://usera.imagecave.com/kitsuneking/ShinnandStellar2.jpg

i've tried to add textures to the walls and put glass, but with the tutorials i found, they looked very out of place and crappy. so yeah.. that's where i'm stuck at

as for the outside (the darkest areas) i think i'll put a transition from sky to earth, as if the ship were leaving the atmosphere. if anyone has anymore suggestions feel free to post them.

Nice idea, but I think it would be better if you make the spaceship (it is a spaceship, isn't it? O_o ) a bit angular... in order to make the perspective and angle more interesting...
and add some mild reflections on the glasses to make it more dramatic-looking.
Overall, it's a very cool idea
I'm looking forward to the next progress =3
