This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

After seeing a comment on a forum (not here) about my mum being a gamer i decided that this would be a very interesting topic.

So do your parents share your love of gaming? even if its a different genre and im not meaning oh they play card games! I mean playing games like Heroes 5 or Final Fantasy.

Well both of my parents do and heres a quick profile of each ones gaming likes.

Mum...

She owns a packard bell Imedia M581 (at the time custom bulit = more expensive) and made the sales person cry when she got it back in 2003. Reason? she said that she wanted a gaming/office/internet computer that would last at least 3 years and he pointed out a HP if i remember correctly which was priced three times and not as well bulit as the one she chosen. Also he was shocked when she said that she would be playing the games. It has a 2.8 P4 processor, 512DDR ram, 80gb hd, 128mb radion gfx card and yes it has lasted the ages so far, all she needs is another 512mb ram and shes laughing. Anyways before those people say go custom, its her computer, her money and i don't want this thread turned into that kinda thing ok! The games shes into are games like Heroies Chronicles, Might and Magic, Dugeon Sege (sp!) and im sure theres more, but its mostly RPG computer games.

Dad...

He on the other hand, updates his computer every 2-3 years and goes custom since unlike my mum he knows alot about computer hardware and even though hes over the hill still keeps up with new techlogy. Hes got 1gb ram, 2.0ghz processor (it is a AMD and at the time got told it was equiviment to a 2.8ghz) a 256 radion graphics card, 50gb hd (hey why need more when you don't need it) and including a mouse which is 3 years old and still going strong! Anyways with a 5.1 Sound System and a joystick you gamers problery know whats coming up, he likes games like the X series (not to be comfused with Xmen, its a space game which the third one, i suggest you double your specs because hte recommended isn't what the games needs) He also likes Civisiation, Railroad Tycoon, Heroes of might and magic Five (awesome game!) as well as the games my mum likes.

So the fact that i am a console gamer unlike my parents (a computer gamer as well) is no surpise since i basicly grew up on computer games then console games. (sometimes the other way around, just can't remember).

So are your parents like mine or do they think that games are a waste of time?

My parents don't like games at all. Whenever I play games or listen to soundtracks, my mother sighs :P are you listening again to those game songs?? Lol, it was a day I wanted to show my mom the excellent graphics of advent children and she only sat for 5 minutes and then started doing other things in the house. My dad told me to take it away. Lol, I was pissed off... how come they didn't like such a great movie?? but it was probably because they don't like such movie genres, and they didn't even know the ff7's story either ...:P I think they have a bad taste of movies.. haha, I have watched advent children about 25 times..
My uncle on the other hand is a very strong gamer. I used to play Diablo 2 about 2-3 years ago together with him. I suppose that you know what a game it is; if not, it is an online game where you create an acoount and choose a character(or some iif you want later) which you can raise up its level, find weapons, armours, shields, you can use different kinds of magic and so on. It was my best game for a while there, because everyone went inside and you could talk to your friends, fight, help out each other whenever you started on a new character and needed to go through all the 5 levels. From level 1, you get 6 quests I think, the last quest is to kill a boss of course. There is 5 levels. And after that, you can open a secret level that includes cows inside :P Loool,I know that it sounds funny, it really was! And they were holding a big axe which you could be hit of. The boss there would be the cow King:P lool, and you could hear them talking, like... mumumumu :P
Anyways, it was only in the beginning when my dad was a bit gamer I think. It was when we first had Sega and played Sonic the hedgehog. A very old game, but quite popular though huh. They have now made new Sonic games for GBA and for Dreamcast, PS2, I guess that the next game of Sonic will be in PS3? (I didn't mean that the new games they did came out now, but in comparison to Sonic 1 in Sega). I remember when my dad and my brother sat until 12 o clocks in front of the tv to play Sonic lol, and they couldn't beat Robotnik... they passed the whole zone and always losed at the boss.

I think that they think games are kind of waste of time right now, because we always play and play and never get tired of playing :P If someone would be even a little gamer, that would be my dad. But not my mom, she doesn't have the slightest interest in it. My uncle on the other hand still loves games. I showed him God Of War some time ago, do you like that game? It got 9,3/10.

Ahhaha! Parents playing games? That's the first I've heard of it. lol. Though my dad fixes computers I never see him playing games. He normally just uses burning programs and java programs and stuff. Never quite playing games. And my mum, she couldn't care less. Listens to music and uses the computer but sees games as a pointless thing and a complete waste of time to play. lmao. People who do have parents to play games have awesome parents! Wish my parents even looked at games. heh...

I think that they will do a new version of Diablo, also Diablo 3. I have the second, lord of destruction. But I think that you will have to pay every month and if that's the case, I think I will consider about it some more :P
Diablo 2 is not a new game, it has been out since.. I don't know how many years, but as said before, I really liked it and enjoyed playing it about 2 years. I hope they will do a new one, even better but without having to pay every month.

My mother and her sister and her brother are the ones who gave me the game mania ...
It's my mother who bought me my first console at 6 years old and didn't even know what it was :-)
We were and are always challenging each other with high scores ...
We are fond of games & movies :-)

All my life my mother *hated* video games. She's always accepted that I love them and that I'll never change my mind about them, but I'll never change her mind either. I quickly got to the point where I wouldn't bother playing video games in her presence because I wanted to avoid the snide remarks that would inevitably follow. She claims she doesn't do that anymore, but I don't believe her.

As for my Dad... Eh... Maybe. I've never seen him with one before and he strikes me as a little... technologically imapired sometimes.

So on this one, it's a solid no. They don't.

Video gaming haven't started that long, but I suspect gamer parents will become more and more common

As for my parents, they don't like it, but they gotten used to me playing it all the time now. When I was younger, they tried to throw out my SNES because I was playing too much

My mom never touched a video game as far as i can remember. As for my dad I used to think he was the sweetest Duck Hunt player ever since he could shoot both of the ducks in doubles.

My mum doesn't play any kind of video game, I don't think she ever has in her whole life. My dad enjoys his classics like Space Invaders, Mario, Galaxia etc.
