Well neways, I didnt think my GiTS wall would have so few comments =/ not even a rant on it or nething.

neways this topics about this: wip1

I'm going to try myself on a scenery wall again...this time I'm gonna take my time and make it good...

so i was wondering how to do this one. either ill have her standing on the cliff looking down into the pit as i have it now, or have her facing the viewer her back towards a sceneric of a cannyon/mountain chain/etc standing on the said cliff =/ well for the moment it looks like ill stick to the first idea of having her look down on the viewer XD as if the viewer is falling down >_>

neways rough erm concept as you see i made the basic colors of the sky and i tried to make a cliff =/ didnt succeed on the cliff though...ne tips on how to do that one? i brushed, i smudged, i took a stoney texture and filled it, and smudged again, and added noise then motion blurred it >< didnt come out too well though..

neways ill keep you in touch with the proceedings of this wallpaper.

here as you see i smudged+deleted the cliff to give it erm...the style of the scan...since it wouldnt fit if it had perfect separations XD

here someone on irc told me i had to many...erm edges in the cliff so i smudged, clone stamped back the original form and smudged and deleted slightly softer than before. i think this looks WAy better, also the clouds are added now :3

VERY NICE

Love the pic you used for Jo (I gotta find that!), sky looks nice, the cliff looks good, and the only thing i would say is that the shadow is off. The sun is in the top left, so the shadow should be going towards thr gith, not straight down.

But other, than that, GrEaT wall! Keep up the good work!

The thing that bothers me about this wallpaper is that there are LOTS of unused spaces. i think it would be best if the overall character image was bigger, or maybe fill up that space with additional character or jo's mech.

the sun also needs work... add some light rays or reflective effects on it and elaborating on it would be nice.
her extraction also seems a bit flimsy, as there her cape edges seem cut off on each side.

in a high tech city that bakuten takes place in, i would've probably have chosen jo to stand on top of a building with other buildings towering over her or something like that, but im sure you could make this work. good luck!

thx for the input :D keep in mind though that this is only a work in progress and not the actual wallpaper so im far from over with this one ;D

I would make her a little bigger in the frame. I'd also add a buzzard or two flying about in the background somewhere and probably go with a bit of funky text. Feels like it needs somethign to sell the wind, though - her cape is sorta flapping up on it's own. Dunno how you'd really do that, though :/. Those are all personal ones, really, though.

Generally it feels to me like a wall that needs to remain fairly open and empty - it's in the desert and there's not much in the desert. You could add another cliff edge in the bg, but given the perspective it'd have to be a really big cliff :/.

tbh, the main thing I'd work on would be completing the ends of the cape, a neat extraction and then it's kinda done bar the frills.

;D you thought right there, I already started recging the cape even before reading this. good input ill make her a tad bigger now D: (d'oh need to recg the cape again D:) alrighties yeah i lots of people on irc told me to add some birds in the skies. just need to make some u_u (doesnt know how to make birds but will try)

made her slightly bigger but figured if i go nefurther it just wont look good =/ also i fully recged the scarf and i changed the sky background to a better gradient. also notice the scan has some noise on it since i didnt take care of it yet.

compare this head on head with wip6, yes the scan is now cleaned :3 looks better ey? and no more grainyness, now for teh birds and some other things ^^

Hmmm sorry if i unintentionally just repeat some input..since i didnt read the others XD it's 2:30 am...=p

anyway..would suggest to change the color of the sky and make it seem like dusk, since the image suggest that time of day

well i guess you know you need to fix the edges of her scarf

i'm ok with her size..makes it a bit diff..just add some clouds (dusk remember) either she's amidst some ruined city...or amidst some rocky plane/plain? lol..and add some debris flying around her..to suggest wind movement since her scarf is flying around, yeash like tris said buzzard will be cool (just refer to the scan for the position of the setting sun)

anyhoo hope that helped

Er, to me, in the latest ones the scarf looks a bit... weird. If you want to make it look like wings I'd go with reshaping it as a big mass, rather than those thin trailing things.

Well I have seen quite a progression! Very nice indeed. I absolutely love the scan you chose I must say I haven't seen it before so a big thumbs up from me :) The critiques I have so far would be ditch the little strings coming off of her cape and sharpen up the rock ledge a bit right now it seems s bit to blurred. But otherwise it looks really great!

so eh basically what happened is, from wip8-wip9 i changed the recged scarf parts' colors with a lighter one...it fits much better. i dunno what i did from wip9-wip10 but i think i deleted some strokes visible on the clouds >_> i guess my wall will look very different on other ppls monitors *needs new tft D:* from wip10-wip11 i changed the sky color, it just had to be dusk/dawn since it fits better with the colors of jo's clothes. from wip11-wip12 i resituated her and the cliff to the right side...most people have the icons on the left right? and also a fellow from irc told me that that's more realistic since the lightning on her back isnt so strong so when she'd stay on the left side of the canvas it'd had to be more stronger...or so...then from wip12-wip13 i couldnt withstand my urges as celestial waller and add a moon behind the clouds >_> i made it much smaller then todays celestial people XD they tend to overdo it, since the moon WE see is like ionno 1 inch in diameter XD ? oh yeah also from wip11-wip12 i started to simulate the wind =/ ne suggestions? im still wrestling with those lines...should i blur them? smudge them? erase some parts to get the feeling of wind? and ill add some more stuff in the background...some birds and such...

Hey lima i like the one with the intense sun (not the planet >.>)some would complain about brightness tho =\
justifies the intense light on jo's legs
but needs more rays that passes through the clouds
i dont like the planet -kills the planet-

i like what you did with her scarf..seems mystical
add birds
add some dust blowing in front of her with some bits and pieces of leaves or just bigger clumps of dirt

the rocks she's standing on is better

can you try making the birds darker? like brown XD..dunno just try it, and blur it a bit, try to see if it looks better XD

for the text
the japanese text looks fab IMO..but the outer glow for the "angel's landing" kinda overwhelms the text..

but all in all your wall has some OWNAGE Possibilities XD

Hmm I think it would look better if you used the edge of a building instead of an edge of a cliff. I've seen a few episodes of this series and the setting is mostly in a cityscape rather than a landscape. Besides that, it looks really good^^
