First of all welcome to AP.

Well if you're looking to submit a self-made wallpaper in the future, it would be good to have some opinions on it while you're still working on it. That way you can get good tips and hints on what's wrong/not good/misplaced/etc in your wallpaper.

As for downloading wallpapers...just browse through the wallpaper gallery and download the wallpapers you like...I'm not quite sure where your problem is.

I strongly encourage you to read the FAQ, it helps a lot (even after 100 posts, I still refer in this when I have a question about the site)
you don't HAVE to post your wallpaper here, but you can have a lot of help here wich can avoid your wallpaper to be rejected.
