Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

I'm currently using Firefox and I do not use IE AT ALL. But some how this happens...
User posted image
By the way, I'm using IE Tab, however, even if I boot up my computer and haven't started neither FF nor IE this could happen.
The symptom is that each time the process starts, my current window would lose focus but nothing happens. Just losing focus and that's all. Sometimes I'm playing game in full screen, the game would lose focus and switch to outside but again nothing seems to happen.
Currently I'm using NOD32 and Spybot S&D both updated regularly because my internet is always on.
Lastly I"m using windows 2003 but I don't think it's because windows since I just noticed a while ago.

So maybe there is a error with the internet explorer program, what version of IE do you have installed? In any case you should try to uninstall it if you using a new version than IE 6 by going to "control panel > Add or Remove programs > select IE".

If you are not running IE 7 you could try installing it, that also may fix your problem.

Or you could completely get rid of IE if you don't plan on using it ever by doing the same but while in "Add or Remove programs" look to the left and select "Add/Remove Windows Components" a list will pop up with default applications that are installed on the operating system, click on the check box next to IE and then click next. IE should then be removed from your system, and if you want to you can always install it later.

Hope some of this helped.

I got the same thing at work. Its just spyware. I remember taht we used AVG Anti-Spyware to solve the problem. If it not Spyware. It must be some Virus that got on your system. Downlaod AVG and update AVG to the latest update. Do a full scan of your computer. Before you dow all that I mentioned, I think you should reinstall IE7 and Firefox and dont open them untill you have completed all of your scans. Dow the scans for both Spyware and Virusses. After the scan. Restart your computer and launch IE7 and Firefox afterwards. If the Anti-(software) doesnt detect anything, Run vcleaner.exe in Safe Mode. You can get all the AVG free products at free.grisoft.com.

I've ever got that problem too. It's a virus. Try to scan your computer, try several product of antivirus, such as AVG and Norton. You can download a trial ver. of Norton. After that, just hoping that it could eliminate the virus. ^^

Let me get this straight. You're using Windows 2003 as in Windows Server 2003 and you don't know how to protect yourself from spyware?

Use adaware - free spyware cleaner, always does the job... you might also want to check under administrator tools > services, you can check or check off which processes you want on boot.

As it did mine. Just as a 'question', why are you browsing with server 2003?

Isn't that what clients are for?

Aside from that, the rest of the solutions in this thread should work.

Though I certainly wouldn't recommend Norton for... anything.

This happened to me before but it wasn't IEXPLORER.EXE my problem was with SVCHOST.EXE. It's a spyware, this kind of problems happens when you fail to protect your PC. You must have a good protection! Use a good antispyware. I suggest you to get Kaspersky internet security 6 (it's an antivirus, antitrojan... anti anything that may harm your PC lol). I installed it a year ago and I never got a problem since then.

Sometimes it could b a rootkit so use the free avg rootkit removal software.
rootkits are hidden and keep reactivating the virus even when your antivirus removes the detected viruses.
use the avg rootkit... and don't click on suspicious emails...lol

I suggest that the OP installs FAR to see the parent process of the IEXPLORE ones and also to see their full path. It is common for malware to use common system filenames while running from elsewhere. Then, if iexplore is NOT in c:\program files\internet explorer, kill them and then delete the malicious iexplore.exe.
As a side note, I also use Windows Server 2003 as a workstation and I'm happy with it. I can play 3D games with no problems. I use themes etc. The main reason why I tried it is to experiment with web services.

The difference being that you seem to have a clue as opposed to the starter of the thread who I suspect is using XP but is either way out of their league.

I don't think there is any difference because he would get that virus on XP too (I love compatibility) important thing right now is to stop it (because best way to fight viruses is to destroy their source)

And by the way, I don't think that you need to be IT expert to do basic administration of any version windows (this is not my idea, I heard it from some old guy named William Henry ***** 3) but you need 64bit OS if you want to use lots of RAM (I think that especially here, people know ho to use RAM ^_^), and before vista there weren't any desktop 64bit windows (I know that there is 64bit version of XP but it so faulty that I will pretend that it never existed) so I think that for some people, 2k3 might be just the right choice. But I'm not windows expert that is why it might be that I am completely wrong.

The difference is that the tools available will differ. Virus scanner suites suited for XP will not always install on Server2003 as they recognise it as a server environment.

The other issue being that if the user is unable to report correctly the fundamentals of their system, the advice given to them will have to be pitched to suit. You don't need to be an expert to do basic administration on any version of Windows, you do however have to have a grasp of the fundamentals if you catch my drift.
