Why does Every One Seem to like Inu Yasha?
3 years 1 month ago
I mean, it bothers me sometimes, because I know a lot of people who enjoy that series. I mean, I really hate it, but I know people have different opinions. But it's annoying because it seems like every one likes it even though the characters are weak, I hate the art, Story line runs of a monster of the week theme, the characters point out the most obvious, there's no Romance, or just a little, I didn't see Inu yasha kiss Kagome once! The only thing I like about it is it's music and the demons are pretty well drawn, but once they have dialoge, it just ruins it. I mean, maybe all the characters who talk are just plain awful....
It's ok. I watched up to ep/78 and couldn't bother watching anymore of it, though. Just feels so dragged out. I don't ever feel this way when I'm reading/watching other stuff that goes on for more than 3 seasons or 20+ volumes.
Some of the characters in it are good, but like ~Hostile, I couldn't watch the whole series, I got tired of it after about 50 episodes. It's not only that the story is dragged out, it's also very repetitive, they re-use the same plot devices over and over again.
I think it could've been a good series if they had condensed it to no more than 4 seasons (aprox 52 episodes).
EDIT: Just realized this was the manga section, I was talking about the anime, I've never read the manga, so I can't really comment on it.

Shikin: Are you talking about the anime or the manga?
Oh well. I watched one episode of the anime, didn't even finish it and I couldn't bear to watch it for a minute longer. Kagome was a whiny ass...girl I swear. Inuyasha himself is just plain stupid. Every anime fan who I got to know at school keeps asking me, "Have you seen Inuyasha? It's so cool!" And I'll be like, "Uh, no." Why do people even bother watching it? The story stinks and it's freaking long. I can't bother to watch anything long like that, especially when the story keeps repeating the same thing over again like DBZ. I don't even think that art is pretty. Oh well, everyone got their own opinion. That's mine.
Lalo: Stop doing the whole "soo" thing. It don't need to be that long and from what I can see, you just want the papers from that post.

Just to defend Inuyasha, it was a great manga series for the first nine volumes. It actually moved at a relatively fast pace back then and in my opinion, the artwork was much better as well. It was pretty innovative and I always found the characters to be adorable and funny. xD;;
Now, since this is a bashing thread, here's what I need to say. First of all, are you guys dissing the Inuyasha manga/anime or are you criticizing its American fanboys? The Inuyasha manga has a lot of flaws and most people don't keep up with it anymore (including me). It's gotten too repetive and drawn out just to earn some more cash for the mangaka. But I don't think the entire series sucked, since the beginning was pretty well-done.
Now the fanboys annoy me too. But think about it. They're at the beginning of the story, when it was good. We're just getting over it because our scanslations proved to us that the story now sucks/is too repetitive. They'll all get over it too when they realize the same thing. Sure, they've become obsessive compulsive freaks, but I obsess over other series myself. A while back, everyone was making threads about 20th Century's Boys and Monster on manga forums, but no one called them stupid fanboys. I think it simply depends on the popularity of the series. If many people like a certain manga (such as Inuyasha or Naruto), they'll get bashed for making a lot of threads about it. On the other hand, people can make as many threads as they want about less popular series without getting bashed for it.
All in all, I'm simply trying to say that we should give those annoying fanboys a rest. They'll get over it in time. The real problem is how long the manga will run. I've just checked that famous Inuyasha translations website and I read an interview with Rumiko Takahashi that states she will continue the series until its at least 500 chapters long. I doubt anyone will read that long if there aren't any new plot devices. O.o;;

Hey, I don't watch/read IY either. It just doesn't interest me very much... but I do love Takahashi's other works like Ranma & Mermaid's scar.
10 first episodes of the anime were very interesting, but after that it simply became stale. Out-of-character cast (like Inuyasha suddenly deciding that he would much rather love you-know-who), fillers (75% of total?), and like with the authors other works: a story that does not have a satisfying conclusion. It just drags on, playing the old jests back and forth again and again.
Now if I just could get my hands on the manga... it might just prove to be a little better, at least. It's a bit sad though; IY had such potential. :mad:

It has a reason for being so long:
thousands of peices of a jewel scattered all to hell and they have to find them

Well, we don't exactly have to watch them find each and every one, do we? ¬_¬
Thats why some of their enemies possess more than one peice of the jewel
i still agree that its a bit too long. . . i prefer the movies, though ive only seen 2
i REALLY want to dl the 3rd and 4th movies, but i cant find them (and i cant buy them cause my parents would flip out over me watching a cartoon with demons in it. . . damn religion)
