What do think about a teacher that slap or punch his/her own student?
I think the Teacher is little bit crazy and I call him a bastard! My sister tell me the story when I return to my hometown at Chinese new year..
The story is like this..
That teacher is teaching about Mathematic, and my sister's friend don't bring the book!
And when she said that, The teacher told her to stand out of the class..
Then, after 15 minutes, he call my sister's friend to come in to the class..
He told to all of the students to do the question at the book..
Then My sister's Friend say that she can't do it, you know that she don't listen to the teacher coz she was at outside!
Then that teacher just " SLAP" it!

I tihnk that now-a-day kids need a whacking. Some schools in my area have kids that push+shove the teachers and the teachers can't do anything because of the law.
I think they do need to bring the Cane back. As to your sisters friend though...well i tihnk people get whats coming to them so he/she was pretty much asking for it...i'm not sure because i don't know the whole story. But i don't think that a teaher would just shove a student for no reason..unless they used to be a preist...J/J!

One of my history teachers got suspened after calling a girl a Bi^^h and lifting her and shaking her by her arms...
He is now my teacher...

Ummm... Kind of abusing... Yes, if I was the person that was getting slapped, I would get really pissed. In fact, I would probably start KILLING and tearing him from limb to limb if I was the victim. But I also think from the teachers point of view, I would do that too. I would slap the student for being not responsible. Also I think the teacher is kind of a good teacher. Instead of being too easy on the students, he shows the student how he/she should not forget or do something bad.
Well, if the whole story is true, i think thats too rough and out of question.
i agree that students nowadays need a little whacking if they broke rules or being irresponsible for many time but no slap, punch or whack in head's area for simple mistakes cuz its HEAD. okay maybe if students act really out of bounds, just dont go too far like whacking with 1 meter wooden ruler to your leg until that ruler break (sure your leg feel numb after that), my math teacher sure do this if we cant answer his/her question cuz he is sure is damn smart and dont like stupid student. but after few months he got heart dieses and when hes back to teach our class he never whacking anymore just yelling at us. i guess thats karma
anyway, we may hate teacher like that but dont hate what he/she's teaching

Eh, teachers aren't as strict as they used to be.. If you let the teachers smack the disrespectful ones on the hand with a ruler.. kids would straiten up. I would take a 'spanking' over a 'time-out' anytime. The pain is a great deterent to keep from doing things. For instance, tell a lab rat not to eat cheese.. becuase it has a strong current running thru it, it's still gonna bite. If you let it bite, it'll get shocked and won't do it again. Pain, my friends, is possibly the only way to get this generation's youth under control. (That, or take away their devil music... darn that rap!)
err but then again.. fearing your teacher doesn't make for a good relationship either, but most teachers these days haven't the talent to gain respect any other way, and they are left powerless to do anything to control their students, who.. for the most part.. would walk all over them. Teachers can't get through to their students if they won't show up for class.. backtalk the teacher.. interrupt teaching.. or any other rude guesture that could interfere with the learning process of themselves and their peers.
My dad told me that my primary school teacher had an electric paddle. I always pictured some sort of device with a tractor seat and big levers and stuff and a ten foot long wooden paddling arm. Needless to say, I never found out if it really existed. I was too scared..

He should be erased from that school!! or better: LOCK THAT TEACHER IN THE PRISON!! NO ONE (not even a techer) IS ALLOWED TO PUNCH KIDS!! >:(
A little whacking can do good when someone crosses the border too many times, too boldly. But only in high school (the later stages of elementary, years 7-9, students aged 15-17). There is simply no other way to keep their hormones in control.
Myself, I'm in uni and if anyone of the teachers dared to humiliate me publicly or -worse- slap me, s/he would have it coming and bad. Straight to the hospital with a broken nose and bloody face.

His/her own student? You presume that it's incorrect. But the society is going downhill because of unpunishable kids.
There isnt really a need for physical discipline if youre taught right at home. Scolding and class humiliation is enough to scar a kid. If a teacher were to provoke and strike a child past the 7th grade, he'd find a gang of kids waiting for him after school to either kick his ass, steal his car, shoot his head, etc... It'd be ugly this day and age.

I for one just think that is just plain wrong.
Yea sure, I agree that kids nowadays are getting kinda out of hand and doing things that are begging for a slap.
Teachers nowadays are also getting soft in their control and disciplinary actions but assaulting a student is just out of hand.
Kids go to school for the education because it is requested by their parents.
Yet this request is not acknowledged by the kid themselves and they practically go to school thinking its going to be all fun and games not taking anything seriously.
They even tend to learn alot of vulgar stuff and use it so often that they think it makes them cool.
Most of the time I don't even think they understand what they are saying.
A good whacking probably in my mind would only teach them more that this world is build on violence.
I would just settle on the teacher doing their duty and help the students if they could.
But if this is not going to be accepted by the student I suggest that it would be better for the teacher to ignore the whole prospect of even bothering to teach the upstart kid.
Harsh to say but the kids brought it on themselves by refusing to learn the easy way and practically forcing others to let them learn the hard way - in the world of reality.

It's alright for parents to spank their children, but I'd prefer it if they found some other way to get their point across.. Teachers don't have the right to inflict pain on their students anyway.. it's illegal. Federal law is against injuries of children by anyone except their parents. And, they tried the spanking thing in the old days, and what did it turn out? I'll tell you; a bunch of red-butted crazy high school dropouts. =_= Hell, a child can press charges if their parents hit them ((doesn't mean they will be successful, though)), so why would a teacher touch them? If the kid is misbehaving, lock him/her in a pitch black, bug infested closet or something. I think that if a teacher ever whacked me when I was younger, I wouldn't have hesitated to bite him/her in response to the assault. Hit me as much as you want.. it's not going to hurt nearly as much as that chunk I took out of your leg.. ><
Just leave it up to the parents and their methods of discipline..

Personal i feel that kids can serisuly get out of hands some times and some can only be treated with corpal punishment
it todays sociaty every one expeacts adults to hand things in a diffrent manner
but in order for adults to diciple kids using condtiong or other forms of punishment we are accpecting them to become profficent in physcology sorry but thats not very realistce espacial when a good wack will do

I can't say I blame teachers who have to resort to corporal punishment to get their point across to those hard-headed kids. There really are kids who need a good punch across the face just so they can behave, since kids nowadays think they don't have to go to school or listen to other people. Brats. I live in the US so there is no such thing as corporal punishment over here since teachers will get sued if they hit the students. I haven't come across any jerks at my school, which is a good thing. I rather like my teachers since they managed to gain the respect of their students without having to resort to violence. That's probably due to the students who are good people in the first place anyway. If a student accidentally forget his or her book, the teacher would just say, "Then find something else to do, but don't disrupt others." I think that makes more sense than slapping the student unless the student said something mean. After all, if the student didn't bring his or her books, it's his or her grade that is at stake. Even if the student said something offensive continually, the teacher would just send the student to the school administrator's office. I've seen students who do nothing in class except sleep. If students feel they have to act all hard in school and don't study, that's their problem. It'll come back to bite them sooner or later. What I don't support is teachers who throws things at their student because that student happens to talk to his or her friend during class. Or if the student sleeps in class, the teacher comes by and slaps him or her across the head. That's when it gets out of hand and the teacher should get some counseling, or put behing bars.

I agree about the fact that some students really need to be punished... Dicipline is very important to me...
However, I think that corporal punishment is not the solution...
I would agree to send the student to see the administrator, give him some extra things to do (which in my sense is a reward to the student because he would work and prepare more than other students...) or even send him out of the class...
Being violent with a student has only one consequence in my opinion: make the student hate school and teachers... the result would be that in some cases, the student will prefer to stay out in streets and hung around instead of getting to class and get an education that will serve his or her future...
However, I already seen some teachers driven mad by students... and I can tell you that some teachers even get sick of teaching at the end, and just give up doin it... others just can't help use violence... and even if I think that it is not good at all to be violent with students... I just cannot say that I would not done the same in the teacher's place... However, these are extreme situations...
