Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

Have you ever loved a series so much that you want it to go on forever. I know it might sound stupid to have a series go on forever, but there are those series that just get to you and you can't put it down and your constantly waiting for the next volume. I'm just wondering if anyone else has those feelings about a favorit manga of theirs. You don't have to comment if you don't want to, no duh. I'm just curious about what people think out there in cyberspace.

While that sounds great in theory, you eventually reach a point where there isn't anything really left for the characters to do without repeating storylines or resorting to very corny or cliché plot points. (Like, "he's my brother!" or when the two main characters whose sexual tension the show relies on finally hop in bed...) Some people in television refer to this as "jumping the shark" - something that is either so ridiculous as to be unbelieveable or to disrupt the "world" of the plot, or that somehow resolved the primary conflict of the show/series.

These sorts of things are prone to happen in series where the entire plot hinges on star-crossed lovers, or sexual tension between two characters. Let's face it, if Honda Tohru (of Fruits Basket) had happily settled down with Sohma Yuki or Sohma Kyo in volume 6 of the manga, the proceding 16 volumes would be pretty damn boring! You can't keep a series going forever without resolving the conflict(s) that drive the plot, lest your readers eventually get bored and wander away, but once you've resolved those conflicts, what else is there left to talk about? (This is, in my personal opinion, why many sequels are simply dreadful - authors have trouble coming up with a new and different plot line that is as compelling as the original.)

There will always be series we wish had gone on a little longer - manga series like Legal Drug that were cut short for reasons outside the creators' control, or animated series like Fruits Basket and Kare Kano that were never really finished at all because their manga incarnations weren't completed. But let's face it, there's nothing better than an immensely satisfying, well-written ending to the journey our favorite characters have been on, whether it's 4 volumes, or 24.

Just look to what happened to dragon ball, because fans didn´t want it to end they made dragon ball gt, and we know how bad gt was when compared with the rest, but even the cell saga or the buu saga was worst than the freeza saga, because toriama wanted to end the series after the freeza saga, but people wanted more and the quality was not the same from there on.

As much as I love a certain series it needs to end or it will get boring and everyone will get tired of it.

Just look to ichigo 100%. Its a great manga but it got boring with time, the situations were the same, and every time something was about to happen someone appears and the whole situation starts again, we can see the author prolonged the manga too much.

Well if the manga don't drop off the quality i wouldn't mind...
for example naruto/bleach goes worse each chapter that pass, so is realy any point on making it longer that expected when the original plot (guess this is still on the original plot) is going worse and worse each week ?

but berserk is still going for more that 15 years i think and it never disappoint me...each week is more interesting to me...(maybe thats just because i started the manga a few years ago) but well maybe it depend on the tastes...well the mangakas always can do that , like evangelion the manga ended but "girlfriend for steel"(was called that ) (stopped reading due to don't find the manga on english and the place were i live is slow importing/traslating or whatever they do) started a few years ago (i know it doesn't have to do much with evas but is still interesting) so..
vagabond is also other good example..is a good manga but unless they do something weird it will end or it will become stupid and boring (even though is a wonderfull manga and i wouldn't want it to end)

Lol. I used to feel that way about some of the manga I read, but the author always proved to me that it was a foolish thought. Eventually, there's nothing left to write about and the characters start to bore you and the sitauations get more boring and you just want to see the conclusion that you've been theorizing and reading fanfic about for so long. Even now I sort of want my current manga to continue forever, but I know I'll get sick of them eventually.
What's really important, I suppose, is that the author keeps their original plans and goes through with what they planned to do. If they start drawing it out, then that's most likely what'll deter a reader. If they keep the series going but still manage to keep a good plot then its usual still readable, it's just most of the time they don't keep up a good story and it just turns to drivel until they lose everyone and have to end the thing with some tacked on something-or other.
I dunno what I'm saying anymore. If I'm enjoying it, then I want it to go on forever. But if the manga does what it set out to do, then I don't have much problem if it's over.

Manga series that go on forever will get boring after awhile... i know some people will disagree with me but ranma 1/2 and inu yasha has been going on for too long =_=;;; they need to cut back on the not needed junk and just finish the series

Yes. The two series I wish didn't have to end are Hana Kimi and Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon's a classic and I can watch it anytime. As for Hana Kimi sure it was already 23 volumes but the story was still really interesting. Wish that didn't have to end for a while.

Well, as much as I'd like a titles to go on indefinitely, it's just not a good thing for the most part. Oh! My Goddess shows no sign of ending any time soon, but then again, there's no real plot or goal in mind. As long as Fujishima is interested, he'll keep working on it. It's just that with OUT these goals, it almost seems like there's no purpose. It's no longer about Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship, it's just about random going-ons. I'd like it to have some sort of resolution soon.

A title like Hajime no Ippo, which is like the 2nd or 3rd longest running title ever as far as I can tell (at 76 volumes+) shows no end in sight, but in it's case, that's a good thing. The art is consistently crisp and detailed, whcih means that Morikawa still has an active interest in it. The story has long terms goals, so it could feasibly run for many more years to come, which I hope it does.

I'd like Hunter X Hunter to run forever, or at least until two major plot lines are wrapped up (Ryodan and Gon's father), but it's problem is that Togashi is of poor health, and has not only had to resort to less detailed art, but has been on several haitus' (his current one being 6 months long so far). Unless he makes a full recovery from whatever illness he has, I don't see HXH running much longer if he should return.

I don't want to see Berserk run forever, but I do hope that Miura knows where he's going with it. I feel that he got side tracked for a bit, since the story didn't have much to do with Griffith for a while. He seems to be getting back on track. I think Miura actually knows how and where he wants to end it, he just needs to get to that point.

I guess in summary, I don't really want anything to run forever, I just want them to end with clear resolution (unlike most of Takahashi's works... I agree with omgitzkye, Ranma went on too long; it didn't even get a resolution. Inuyasha is also at the point where it needs to wrap up soon).

When a manga series ends, I cheer myself up saying "aaa, more moneys for gunpla now!"
However, some series makes me really sad when it ends ._. Shojo series for sure... always too short.

Thas true because of all the twists and turns and stuff but sometimes we dont want it to end ecause the ending might suck after everything that has happened. but all things must come to an end. cliche, yes i know. after that you can feel kinda a sense of comfort that it was a good ending like a storybook
