Hikaru No GO
Read hikaru no go a long time ago and i was obsessed with it ^_^ the artwork is great! when i read the manga tried to learn go but i got my ass kicked when i tried it...lol didn't like how the story ended...could've been alot better though...
Ah, I loved the manga for a little while. It was interesting and I loved all the characters. ^_^ But later on, it got sort of old-- it was just the same thing over and over, although I was happy with how the characters were growing up and such. It was good. But like a lot of people have said already, the ending was sort of disappointing.
I tried the game, but it was too hard for me. XD It looks so easy when other people do it...

One of the skills needed is to read deep into your opponents moves. So you can predict where they will counterattack, cut them off, and etc.i do read it. and try to play it also via yahoo, but i guess i just not good at it.
The reason Hikaru pukes is because when Sai is sad, his emotions get to Hikaru and he pukes.I find the manga a bit unusual, especially the part of the dude puking everytime he denies he can't play Go...
I didn't really read the manga. Just the first 3 volumes from Viz. After that, I went and downloaded the anime. It was great. If there was an alternate ending in the manga, please tell me.

I love Fujuwara no sai!
Hikaru no go...well great manga but crap ending =_=' other than that it was one of my favourite series, and it was hikaru no go that got me really into manga. ^^I've gotta say that for a story about go, it really is great...i mean it's gotta be good if it makes you wanna read a story about go. Not that i'm dissing go or anything, i've played it a few times and it's quite fun^^ though i suck at it XD But a story about go, is like a story about chess...not that interesting. However hikaru no go has this shine in it that pulls you in pretty deep.
i've read it, but i haven't seen the anime series, i've played go before, but its kinda hard for me.
I started playing Go after watching/reading Hikaru no Go. I never knew a game like that can be so addictive. But i am so bad at it. Need to be better, but I guess that will never happen. I hope that i have Sai skills, if i do, winning the tournament will be a piece of cake ^_^

I liked the manga, although I think it ended to soon.
I played go online before, but not very good at it.

Love the manga AND anime LOTS! Though i tried out go before and my first day, i had to play with a regular there coz' my friends abandoned me and so i was like trembling hahas. I felt totally lost while playing, no more feeling that i'm putting those black seeds onto the board hahas. Oh wells, don't like go but LOVE hikaru no go ^__^ i like hikaru and akira sooo soo much, especially watching them grow up into such charming and handsome young men hehes
I like the manga, but I haven't finished reading it yet. The story still continue , and published in Indonesai until no 15. Maybe it still a long way until I finished reading it... he..he..he... :neko:
Hey, I'm from Indonesia too but I've finished reading the manga. Probably b/c you read the manga which is published by elex media. I usually rented it and they've some manga which you can say not from a legal publisher but faster. But both the ending in anime and manga dissapoint me

Good anime serie, but it is too boring imo...
The only thing good about the anime (imho) is the first opening song 'Get Over' >>
Anyway, Hikaru no Go is one of my all-time favs and it got me hooked on Go. I like playing it but have a hard time finding opponents in my area. :s It's more fun to play in real life than on the internet. o.o

Ive been wanting to read the manga. Anyone know of any sites where I can direct downlaod it?
If there was an alternate ending in the manga, please tell me.
There wasn't an alternate ending per se, but the anime didn't follow the manga all the way to its end. The anime series itself ends with Akira and Hikaru's match, which was a very good stopping point, I think. There is a New Years Special after that which follows the manga through the preliminaries for the Hokuto Cup (a company-sponsored go tournament between the 3 countries of China, Japan, and Korea for players under 18). After that the manga goes on to include all of the Hokuto Cup arc and ends there. It's a fitting ending, I suppose, but I still want it to go on cause I absolutely LOVE Hikaru no Go!!
I first read it when I bought two volumes of it from Waldenbooks. After reading those, I remembered that I had downloaded and burned all 23 volumes onto a CD, so I got that out and finished the rest of the series in one day. Seriously, it was so good that I couldn't stop. Then, since I was on a Hikago craze, I went and downloaded all 75 eps of the anime and the New Year's Special and watched all of that. About a year later, I completely reread the manga and rewatched all of the anime. Yes, I know I'm a bit obsessed, but it's just that good. I've never found a series that draws me in as much as Hikaru no Go does.
I have been interested in learning how to play go after I watched the anime. I know the basic rules, but without lots of practice, it really is hard to get any better... Someday I hope to own my own go board...
