Tokyopop, Viz, or DelRey?
I have mangas from different campanies. But my al time favorite is VIZ. :D
I like VIZ since they translated most of my favorite titles. I don't have anything from Del rey. But the best one would have to be Tokyopop, since they have the best translations. VIZ translates the names of the characters, and that sucks.
I buy from ADV, and some from Viz. They got my favorite manga. I never have a chance to buy from Tokyopop yet.
but they are quite expensive in my country. I only buy them if they are not published by other local manga publisher.

Most of my stuff is from Tokyopop, but I don't really like them. I think they're too liberal with their translations and it seems like they like to Americanize their manga far too much. I still have a grudge with them because of DNAngel...
I especially don't like the whole new 'OEL' thing that's going around lately. I don't have a problem with Americans making comics or graphic novels that look similar to Japanese, but it's like TP is trying to push them off as not any different from manga and that just irritates me.
Viz is all right. I've been annoyed with them before for editing pictures, but I do like them (somewhat) better than TP. I just wish they'd print their Shojo Beat line on better paper. The paper quality is so much worse than their normal stuff and yet it's only a dollar less!
I've only read one title by DelRey, but I think they're pretty good. They leave in the honorifics, which is cool, and it seems like they try to preserve the Japanese authenticity. I also really like their previews of the next issue.
ADV is way too slow and I think it's dead now *blinks*
Can't really comment on Go-Comi!, Ice Kunion (they do Korean stuff), or Dark Horse since I haven't read much by them...

I think VIZ is a really good company because they translate a lot of the good mangas. I actually have no favourite, mainly because I can't really tell the difference between the good ones. One thing for sure, like others, I dislike Tokyopop because they are publishing manga from amateurs who happen to submit "interesting" stories. Half of them are lame and the artwork is terrible in some... not even, many of them. Its just not right, some people have amazing stories and such but don't have the ability or time to submit them in, and these amateurs are getting stories published. :( Its like Japanese people trying to make shows like family guy.
I usually just read the summary on the back of the manga and if I like it, then I get it. I have TokyoPop, Broccoli, SJ, and Viz. So as long as it's a good story, I don't care who publishes it.
Del Ray is the best, they provide notes on cultural references in the back, and they edit most of the text without leaving white bubbles behind where the kana was.
Tokyopop and Viz are "okay", they're standards aren't as high and somehow Tokyopop likes to change covers (ie. Girl Got Game covers are waaay different than the original Japanese ones), and leave huge white bubbles behind.

Del Rey definitely. I think they put the most work into their translations and bonus bits. Tokyopop is great for the amount they can produce, but whereas some of their titles have a hell of a lot of work put into them (for instance, Tokyo Babylon and Loveless), some of their less popular titles are really rushed out. And they do license a lot of crap.
Some of Viz translations have been great, but then a lot are very lackluster. I think they sometimes go overboard with their alterations to sound effects, especially in shounen titles, blanking out other elements of the page, and I'm miffed that when they started to re-release X/1999 in the smaller format, they didn't unflip it as they had with so many other title at that point. I have the first 9 or 10 mangas of X in the large format and if they were unflipped, I would have rebought them, therefore giving more money to them.

I agree that Del Ray is the best company to publish manga because they do the best job at translating Japanese to English with translation notes at the end. Thanks gosh that they are doing Genshiken and xxxHolic otherwise I will cry at how horrible the translations are for these series! Especially Genshiken, since this is a manga about anime fandom, it's important to keep the translations as close to the original Japanese as possible and Del Ray does an excellent job of it.
Viz is alright even though they don't keep the honorifics they are getting better at keeping the names (oh important are the names!) to the original. I remember reading Naruto in the English Shonen Jump and I daresay, it sux horribly. The name of the moves that that they translated it really made me want to rip it apart (ie. Neiji's Byakugan became the Evil Eye *cries*). Oh gosh, I'm glad that they changed some of the name. But I wouldn't get my mangas from them if I can help it.
Tokyopop, eh, they could be better but their manga selection is huge and they have most of the manga that I want to read. In terms of translations, they at least have honorifics. I can't say every translation is perfect since there are a couple of times when I ran into some wrong translation. But I don't mind getting my mangas from them.
The worst that I've experienced is ADV. They brutualized Tactics! I'm so disappointed. I'm glad Tokyopop picked it up, it's way better than ADV.
We can only pray that a good company like Del Ray pick up the good titles.

I don't have a favorite. But if I had to pick one it would probably be TokyoPop.
The vast majority of my manga series (especially my absolute favorites) are published stateside by Viz. However, they do some pretty poor editing and they tend to have a lot of typos and grammatical errors. They even have characters calling one another by the wrong name from time to time (I've seen this in my Prince of Tennis manga the most). I love that they put their stuff out early, but sometimes, I wish that they wouldn't so that they would take more time to fix any mistakes before sending series to be printed. Tokyopop also has the same problems with editing that Viz does, so they could use some work, too. Del Rey will have a few printed errors show up in their releases, but those errors are nowhere near the level as the ones that Viz and Tokyopop makes. So, if I had to choose one of those companies as the best, I'd have to go with Del Rey.

Tokyopop has a couple of my biggest favorites like D.N.Angel and Furuba, but Viz has a lot more that I like. And I read Tsubasa and xxxHoLic from Delrey and i really like their translations and translation notes. Tokyopop most the time doesn't have notes and i wish they did for some sound effects because even though i can read it, i don't know exactly what the sound is a sound for. Viz sometimes has translations and sometimes doesn't. ADV has nice translation notes too.
TokyoPop desecrates manga (changes it -_-). Del Rey gets credit for retaining the honorifics and translation notes, but it's kinda expensive here. Viz puts out straight, honorific- less translations but the price is ok.
So, I'll have to say Viz.

I have a large number of manga from Tokyopop and they did an all right job. I have a few manga from Viz, and I found that they did a rather poor job with the editing, for example, in the first volume of La Corda D'Oro, they switched Len's spelling from Len, to Ren, then back again a few times. I own about 9 volumes of Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle by Del Rey, and I love the translator's notes and how they left in the honourifics. Del Rey is my favourite, currently, even though they're a few dollars more expensive >.<
